Muse May 7th, 2006, 08:49 PM I'm searching for a building which facade was designed like an famous photograph. I couldn't say if it's the "Regent Place & Meriton Tower" or not.
But i think it wasn't that high! The buildings i mean is located in the neighbourhood of Westpac Place!I see. You meant the 15 level "Dupain" which is not going ahead now due to the East Darling Harbour development
(the grey concept towers @ the end of the first post). Dupain would be hidden by the towers and just be a waste.
It was designed before they were announced.
Based on a photograph known as "Bondi" by Max Dupain:

sydney and australia overall oozes mediocrity,i mean look at those towers in the CBD they are just so bland.dont get me wrong i love this city just as much as my place of birth and always i've always defended it with vigour, but it always dissapoints me with it's tall-poppy syndrome.the entire city council with clover moore should be abolished and also frank sartor :gunz: .these guys are a disgrace to city planning.they should start appointing young red blooded people with a more forward looking attitude towards future development.
if this continues then god knows what will happen to this beautiful city :(
CrazyCanuck May 8th, 2006, 01:35 AM Most of the buildings look pretty good. Meriton tower on the hand looks like a jumbled mess.
Muse May 8th, 2006, 10:58 AM sydney and australia overall oozes mediocrity,i mean look at those towers in the CBD they are just so bland.dont get me wrong i love this city just as I think that's truer for the past & a lot of architects have understood this since, therefore have made an effort to come up with "better" (for want of a better word) designs over the last few years. 10 years ago, Sydney was pretty much a city of "flat-tops".

london lad May 10th, 2006, 04:36 AM Is that exhibition/model a pernament display as I now live in Sydney & would be interested in checking it out??
Bikkel May 10th, 2006, 01:11 PM Some great designs. I like 33 Bligh Street; holes in a building usually are meaningless but this design gives that idea a good purpose (sunlight at streetlevel I assume).
Muse May 11th, 2006, 12:09 PM Edit, see page 2 of this thread.
...
london lad May 11th, 2006, 12:15 PM I think your're meainng the East Darling Harbour thread.
There was and exhibition for it for it @ The Sydney Opera House going back over 1/2 months ago. It has since finished.
Are you sure it was for the east darling harbour exhibtion- the big model of the whole of the CBD where a lot of pics of the models on this thread is from or is it/was it something different??

Muse May 11th, 2006, 02:50 PM Some great designs. I like 33 Bligh Street; holes in a building usually are meaningless but this design gives that idea a good purpose (sunlight at streetlevel I assume).Yes, the atriam, below the main tower component for 33 Bligh @ street level is about 50m high and will include entrace/s to the lobby to the elevator lift wells to the above 27-level tower component.
I couldn't have said it better myself.Indeed, you couldn't have said it any better, because along with you Avatar, cyborg81 sounds equally as negative and cycnical.
cyborg81's profile, lists his cities as Dubai and then Sydney, so I'm guessing he's and ex-pat from Sydney, so it's easy for an ex-pat to cast assertions eg. the tall-poppy syndrome statement he made on this thread's previous page. Less and less Aussies have the "tall-poppy syndrome" nowadays as we have evloved from that.
