cyborg81 October 28th, 2007, 05:54 PM I agree too, if it's anything, it's a living proof that democracy exists in China...
Although i think the lady owner Milked it to death ($2.3 million dollars - give me a break) but she had the right-to-her-rights to the extreme...
i think it is till an underpaid amount.i inherited a 750 sq.mtr plot of land (similar in size to this one) in india from my grandfather, and i got it evaluated and found out the current market price is US $4.1 million.so this being in the CBD should have been more.
big-dog November 12th, 2007, 03:14 PM Pictures was taken on Nov 10 on my Shenzhen trip, the first two pics were taken on the observation deck of Shun Hing building. In the first pic, you can see the 6-floor bldg has been torn down and the construction has started :) sorry for the pic quality.

ZZ-II November 18th, 2007, 12:21 AM the pics are definitely too big ^^, my computer can't load them
Þróndeimr November 18th, 2007, 12:55 AM ^ They are big (5mb) and they are from a chinese source which makes them way to heavy to load! Can you just show the links to each image?
The renderings are great though, thanks for sharing! :)
velut arbor aevo November 18th, 2007, 01:36 AM would appreciate it if you provide a link to these pics, can't see anything.

Can you post some actual pics, and btw, is 439m its final height?

williamhou2005 November 18th, 2007, 03:37 AM Sry abt the big images. It took me a while to load as well. You guys have probably seen those renders before, but this time they are presented in a much higher resolution. If you are willing to wait for a while, you can see some details of Kingkey's design:)
williamhou2005 November 18th, 2007, 03:46 AM OK, I see the pics now.
Can you post some actual pics, and btw, is 439m its final height?
As in Big-dog's photo on page 13, it is a big hole a the moment...(I would like to see the progress as well, but I am not in Shenzhen at the moment)
Official height is 439m. There are rumors saying it will be 446m and even 485m, but it can not be confirmed.

the construction site is really crowed... and I am looovin it. U never need to waste land like shanghai does, that SWFC plot could put three 300meterer in there, chinese CBD is too planned
TU 'cane December 27th, 2007, 09:08 PM Really cool project
RSG December 28th, 2007, 01:59 AM This is one of the best looking towers that I have seen in a while. I want one in Sydney.
I love the area in the top. Would that be a restaurant of some kind? Anyway, looks great :)
Lawcheehung December 28th, 2007, 02:45 AM kinky tower! this is one of the most sexiest towers ive seen..
pun intended
CULWULLA February 1st, 2008, 04:47 AM ive just added this to world tall diagram updates.
fyi-
width of tower-45m.
height to hotel lobby-310m.
height to reataurnt-380m
height to highest observation pod-412m.
depth of hole-25m
total floors- 82.( +4 observation in pod)= 85.above grd
4 basement
TowerJunkie February 1st, 2008, 05:22 AM STUN GUN! haha  ^^

i think there are other reasons why SWFC plot is kind of empty. If i remember correctly, one side of the site actually has subway running underground, and another side is for future subway expansion.

You should love Chongqing Jiefangbei CBD then. Highest density.
Jhun February 8th, 2008, 04:16 PM You should love Chongqing Jiefangbei CBD then. Highest density.
sure, u bet, CQ CBD is my favorite in China, it's literally a shorter edition of NewYork(probably taller edition in the next 20yrs)
Jhun February 8th, 2008, 04:19 PM anyway, back to topic, i think they should change the name to King's Key Tower, that would be much better
AceN February 13th, 2008, 04:35 AM Just wondering, why they named it Kingkey ?... is it owned by a king named key ?.. or king of monkey ?..:jk:

Peloso February 13th, 2008, 11:28 PM the buildings in that crowded area look disgusting :puke:
fortunately they are building Kingkey Finance Center :)They not only were ugly, also must have been a nightmare to live in. No light, no air, no space around the windows... just look at those buildings in the middle... surrounded at four sides... totally absurd.
Speaking of skyscrapers, the concept I like the best is Lujiazui, large spaces and green areas between towers that let you appreciate their height better, especially from street level - and make you live better too. F..k the density!:bleep:

davee08 February 19th, 2008, 01:26 AM surrounding scrapers are great we demand more! progress on the plot of kingkey is so slow i've been looking back and forth through this for ages and when are they gonna get the whip to work fast like with most chinese buildings

http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/2706/shenzhenqy9.jpg
Wow, it looks like they really cleaned up the area. I do love the density in the old areas but it makes me wonder what happened to all the people living there. I hope they'll fill the area back in with more density. Also I live that parklike area on the top picture with the lake. What is that? Is that a new addition or has it been there for a long time? That lake looks beautiful.
velut arbor aevo April 20th, 2008, 12:03 AM I think all of them got compensations from the government for the move. If you go back to previous pages, you will see the talk about a family getting million of dollars from the government for leaving his property.
That park is Lychee Park, it has been there for around 20 years (almost as old as the city).
DarkTennouHito82 April 30th, 2008, 12:56 AM Oh yeah,

No! I really like those Japanese style residentials, ultra dense and too few of them in China :ohno:.
altuzarra27 February 16th, 2009, 07:38 PM In this R.C. structure scheme, the core has a similar arrangement to the steel scheme and the wind shear is taken out from the core at the lowest basement level and transferred to the perimeter diaphragm walls. In order to reduce large shear reversals in the core walls in the basement, and at the top of the tower base level, the ground floor, basement levels 1 and 2 and the 5th and 6th floors, the floor slabs and beams are separated horizontally from the core walls.

williamhou2005 February 18th, 2009, 08:34 PM they should torn down the surrounding buildings, they look hideous.
It's gonna be very, very expensive to torn them down after the tower finished
AvanGard February 19th, 2009, 12:01 AM They may get face-lifts.
By the way, does anybody know who is the majour investor behind all these projects in Shenzhen? Brave fellow he must be. Or company?
kingsc February 19th, 2009, 01:16 AM I like design of this building. I can't wait to see how this developes.
dachacon February 19th, 2009, 01:28 AM they should torn down the surrounding buildings, they look hideous.
why? they add to the density and character to the neighborhood.
but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
da_wei February 19th, 2009, 03:06 AM Nice progression...
Anekdote February 19th, 2009, 07:36 PM It's gonna be very, very expensive to torn them down after the tower finished
how come it will get more expensive after the complex is finished? or do you mean the land will become much more worthy?
I bet those building will be demolished soon anyway to make room for redeployments..
williamhou2005 February 20th, 2009, 12:34 AM how come it will get more expensive after the complex is finished? or do you mean the land will become much more worthy?
I bet those building will be demolished soon anyway to make room for redeployments..
The land will be more expensive as a landmark project is finished, and the residents in there have more bargining power, they are more sure that their old, dense and unsafe structures will eventually be demolished to make room for new development.
BigDreamer February 20th, 2009, 08:32 AM wow, major progress, pretty quick i have to say
Zollern February 20th, 2009, 01:50 PM Yes, it's a massive site and going full-steam ahead, but I don't think we can work out the tower envelope yet.

DinoVabec March 17th, 2009, 10:36 AM It's already that high??? Damn, that's fast...This is probably the fastest growing building in the Workd right now...Amazing...:):)
VRS March 17th, 2009, 12:37 PM nice up date....glad the project still in good progress...
SilentStrike March 17th, 2009, 05:17 PM woooohowww, thats some fast progress there!! damn!
Zollern March 17th, 2009, 05:28 PM The core is more likely to be where the red cranes are rather than the green cloth-covered small tower behind.
The difficulty with this site is that it's so large we haven't been able to precisely place the tower's footprint.
big-dog March 18th, 2009, 04:03 AM great to see the progress. It was a big hole when I was there last year. I'm glad to have another visit next year!

VRS April 8th, 2009, 06:35 AM massive project
CULWULLA April 8th, 2009, 06:42 AM im trying to workout what we are looking at?
that tall green structure isnt the core.
jhalsey April 8th, 2009, 05:47 PM I think Shenzen is near Hong Kong. Some competition is emerging.
SilentStrike April 8th, 2009, 08:26 PM ^^^^ maybe it's another building that belongs to the complex. There are many buildings there, and maybe theyll start The 439 tower later.
ZZ-II April 8th, 2009, 08:30 PM im trying to workout what we are looking at?
that tall green structure isnt the core.
the core is where you see the 2 red cranes to the left of the green structure :)
CULWULLA April 9th, 2009, 04:25 AM ^ah, that makes sense. what is tall green structure?
ZZ-II April 9th, 2009, 06:10 PM a small highrise of the complex, you can see it in the render:

VRS April 10th, 2009, 07:05 AM the restaurant / pub at top floor..??
Erebus555 April 10th, 2009, 07:08 AM What is incredible is that they are building the entire complex in one big phase. If this were Europe, it would be phased - usually with the tower being last to start construction! :|
