Also on the horizon there is ANA on the Gold Coast should also come on line soon Culwulla, 70 floors Mixed-use, 30 office, 40 resi, should be good for upwards of 240m I think.

Plus APH said 480 Queen Street in Brisbane will start early 2007, DA going in soon, def over 150m, rumoured at maybe even around 300m if we are lucky!

Cheers Culwulla. I think the BAC tower 2 on George street in Brisbane is also lodging a DA very soon, 60,000 sqm of office tower, starting construction without precommitments this year once approved, should be good for over 150m.

^^Well this is mainly about buildings that are UC - not every tower that's little more than a twinkle in the developers eye :) But what about Brisbane Square Cul - its UC and 151m. That makes 8 for Australia.

Australia - 8 UC of 150m+
Eureka (Melb) 297m/91s
Circle on Cavill B (GC) 219m/70s
Meriton Tower (Syd) 170m/48s
Verve501 (Melb) 170m/45m
Skyline (Bris) 160m/48s
Circle on Cavill A (GC) 158m/50s
Lumiere (Syd) 151m/47s
Brisbane Square (Bris) 151m/38s

I was having a little play with the stats and we actually compare really well on the international scene. I mean you can't compete with China, US & UAE but otherwise we're right up there. Let me know if I missed out any major ones. I used Emporis - I know some are data defficient, Russia inparticular but nevertheless, this is the numbers you get:

China - 75
United Arab Emirates - 66
United States - 58
Japan - 10
Australia - 8
Panama - 7
Russia - 6
South Korea - 5
Spain - 5

^i was going to include brissy square but its topped out and only some glass to go. its bulk wont change anymore. i understand techinally its uc with crane ect. as with eureka , thats done. it only has a crane on top now to remove.
.
basically if its in my monthy diagrams its in.
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=344118
next diagram (june1), brissy sq & festival towers will exit.
Conc south is just about there.
here is my list>

Australia - 7 UC of 150m+

Circle on Cavill B (GC) 219m/70s
Meriton Tower (Syd) 170m/48s
Verve501 (Melb) 170m/45m
Skyline (Bris) 160m/48s
Circle on Cavill A (GC) 158m/50s
Lumiere (Syd) 151m/47s
Aspect (syd) 150m/45s uc/hold

#cant compare to international scene. our little population ect.thats why i stick to the wonderful land of OZ.

Nice work yet again culwulla

Go QLD nice work if you get half the proposed towers built you will be doing well.

As for Melbourne reminds me of the early nineties when constuction all but stopped. At least we got 2 nice buildings out of this last boom.

yes its hard to say what is on "horizon". sometimes a devloper says its a goer or there is a big indication there project isnt far way from starting and it drags on and on and on. while othertimes a project starts straight away.with Prima, i feel it will eventually get built but maybe not for a while.while other projects like grand central and 565 collins seems to be moving forward.

Perth doesn't have a tower U/C over 150m just yet, but the way this boom is going, i reckon we will see some within the next 5-10 years:). we almost had the Parkwest towers(205m and 195m) but the project went bankrupt, so we will see great things for perth over the next few years. cheers fallas:)

Locke
May 13th, 2006, 11:06 AM
That would be nice, mixed-use is a recipe for good looking tallies. You get the great shapes of a sexy res (no boring square floor plates) with the nice glassy facade of an office tower. Hence why mixed use towers are better than office or residential I think.

It is sad news Cul...!
I walked past daily through Little collins st.. seems they are still buidling the back bit - with the construction seems for the tower (sorry I dont know the term of it - the big things in the middle of the building).
That things seems too big for 6 floor podium ?

Thats the core. The core will be used in the final building, as will all the supports. So if that's what you mean by "big", that explains it.

But I would love to see them just keep going. Such an awesome building, even if Archibomber thinks its a giant Barny the dinosaur..

towers uc over 150m
SKYLINE TOWER/BRISBANE- 160M/48ST- current status 150m/45st.crane should be gone in 2-4 months
LUMIERE/SYDNEY-151m/47st-current status 97% clad.crane should be gone in 2months
ASPECT/SYDNEY-150m/43st-current status-6floors.
Hopefully Vision and Soul , ANA,Oracle and Dolphin towers will start soon as Australia will be a laughing stock with a chance of just 1 uc in 2 months time being Sydneys Aspect.

Sydney=2 Aspect & (Lumiere-which is about to finish)./Westfield tower to start late 2007, also first Interchange tower at Chatswood.

Perth=0 Tower A of Capital square will start 2007.next two towers to follow

Gold Coast=1 Soul, soon-Dolphin tower A,ANA motel,Oracle Tower A

Brisbane=4 Vision,275 george,400 george st,(Skyline-soon to finish.)

to start 2007-Empire sq,480 queen st? 549 queen st?

summary-
Mlebourne
well the next 150m+ may start early next year, could be one of the towers for the large bomb sites-ie Power station,CUB or dubai style site? or if resi sales pick up,could be prima or 368 lt collins?
Sydney well sydneys next 150m+ looks like Westfields tower. there will be many just under 150m. there are a couple of approved over 150m but not sure about there start date. EDH will have a few which will start up 2008.
Perth
perths prospects look good because of the massive capital SQuare dev. # towers all over 150m which are set to start soon. Also the office tower on City Square site looks like it will be well over 150m.
Gold Coast
The massive 240m Soul has recently started and many more to follow. Each of the twin tower projects have a tall tower and a shorter tower just under 150m.
Brisbane Brisbane has the best prospects atm with currently 4 over 150m uc and many more to start 2007/8.

Yeah they do have balconies. Tower two and three we think are just provisional designs as these are to be built after tower one has started (the shorter one)

There is also going to be Bishops See towers 1+2 plus some smaller buildings in that same area. It will be very high density in the future.

will it be 150m+? will it start this year?

^thanks.
just 2 months ago ,Australia was at its lowest ever count of 150m+ skyscrapers UC with just 2.
them being Aspect in Sydney and Skyline in Brisbane.
Now Brisbane have kicked off with Vision,275 george, northbridge and 400 george st.
Also GC have started with Soul. no other city have added anymore.
so count is now -
Sydney=1
Brisbane=4
GC=1
This will no doubt change before years end.
