Bern's Shula's Longhorn's Lakelander May 9th, 2006, 06:58 PM (not within Tampa's city limits, but worth the drive) For the price: Texas Cattle Company: 2 locations in St. Petersburg & downtown Lakeland Tampa on the move. May 9th, 2006, 07:21 PM (not within Tampa's city limits, but worth the drive) For the price: Texas Cattle Company: 2 locations in St. Petersburg & downtown Lakeland Thx for those suggestions, Has anyone been to the Palm Restaurant or Ruth Criss???? moxwax May 9th, 2006, 07:27 PM Thx for those suggestions, Has anyone been to the Palm Restaurant or Ruth Criss???? Ruth's Chris os kind of overrated in my opinion. Bern's is better. Palm is good, but it's a bit more casual if I'm not mistaken. kjd4591 May 9th, 2006, 07:55 PM All very good, each a little different Fleming's...$$ Capital Grille...$$ Ruth's Chris...$$ Palm...$$$ Shula's...$$$ Bern's...$$ Pinellas Chateau France (Kobe, Wagyu Beef) ...$$$$ Bascom's...$$ Best in the south.....Bones in Atlanta...$$$ The absolute best......... My house, meat ordered from Lobels.com and cooked in my Jenn Air..$$$$$$$ tampamobster21 May 9th, 2006, 08:25 PM My restaurant...Fuego on 60 in Brandon. $$ TamBay May 9th, 2006, 08:35 PM Don't forget that Malio's is coming back tampamobster21 May 9th, 2006, 10:02 PM Are we talking about restaurants that are open or supposed to open? Also, I have to say it as a joke, but Golden Corral. FloridaFuture May 9th, 2006, 10:52 PM Bern's (Soho/Hyde Park) Steak and Ale (Westshore) Seltzer (South Dale Mabry/Westshore) smiley May 10th, 2006, 02:15 AM IS there a Seltzer on South dale Mabry - cause the one by the stadium is definitely NORTH dale Mabry cwat212 May 11th, 2006, 05:27 PM Pure Steakhouse Favorites: 1. Ruth's - pure steak 2. Charlies - filet and wife has the 20oz. lobster tail (great Martinis 3. Bern's - Best over all experience and best wine list in the world Excellent: Fleming's I have been to the Texas Cattle Co. in Lakeland and it was very good. More of a casual atmosphere. Worth the trip. Two others - Restaraunt BT and Tampania, both in Old Hyde Park and both are excellent. Rest BT is Asian/French fusion. Had a filet there and it was great. They had a lobster apetizer that was unbelievable! I had a filet topped with a lobster claw and crab meat at Michell's Fish at the Westshore mall and it was definitely a great surprise. Now I am hungry!!!! Jasonhouse May 11th, 2006, 06:55 PM Well, I don't eat much steak, but I do eat it... Bern's (only been a handful of times in 20 years) Fleming's (only been twice, but very impressed) Spoto's Steak Joint (in St Pete actually) I used to go to Shula's about twice a month, and never had a bad meal...Ruth's Chris is overrated imo. And for the casual chains, Longhorn is tops, with Outback close behind. tampamobster21 May 11th, 2006, 07:58 PM Fuego is finally opening up today. We open at 5:00. Our phone number is (813) 413-8369, for call ahead seating. Quegiebo May 12th, 2006, 03:35 AM 1. Jessie's (Brandon) 2. Longhorn 3. Bern's TampaTower May 12th, 2006, 05:25 AM I have not eaten at alot of places in Tampa(don't have the budget yet), but Lee Roy Selmons has great steaks. robbie May 13th, 2006, 10:27 PM Bern's was the absolute best steak I have ever eaten. I ate there a few years back when the original owner was still alive and running it. Had the Chateau Br. (spell check). It melted in my mouth. As for Chains, I've never been to Ruth Criss but have heard it's superb. Every time I've had steak at Outback, I've been disappointed. Sam Seltzer's is pretty good. Unfortunately, I cannot eat steak anymore. It gets stuck in the middle of my chest and I feel like I'm having a heart attack. My brother has the exact same problem. I'm also lactose-intolorate. I think it's mother nature's way of saying "AVOID COWS". But seriously, if you like steak, please arrange to go to the famous Bern's. Yes, it's very expensive but well worth it. tampamobster21 May 14th, 2006, 08:39 AM Has anyone tried to go to Fuego? Amazing, but always packed. I work there and we have been on a wait for a while, but I would love to have feedback on Fuego. leglace May 14th, 2006, 07:19 PM There was an Argentinian restaurant on 6th ave in Ybor. They were a great place for a good steak for very little money. Their Churrascos w/ chimi churri was to die for. I wouldn't go looking for good filet mgnon. That is a very good bland steak w/great texture. Look for a good ribeye (delmonico) or a good skirt steak (churrasco). Skirt steak absorbs flavor better than any other. As an example, try a skirt steak at the Cheesecake factory, and I guarantee you'll b licking your chops. Jasonhouse May 15th, 2006, 01:00 AM Has anyone tried to go to Fuego? Amazing, but always packed. I work there and we have been on a wait for a while, but I would love to have feedback on Fuego. I would love for you to stop advertising this Fuego place here. Enough already. Quegiebo May 15th, 2006, 12:34 PM ^^ I'd say we all deserve a free dinner at Fuego's! You payin', Mobster??? :eat: Tampa610 May 15th, 2006, 04:12 PM I would have to say my top three are: 1) Chateau France in St. Pete - It's French but absolutely the best steak dinner I have ever had in my life. 2) Ruth Chris - The steak is so tender it melts in your mouth. You can cut it with a butter knife. 3) Outback - I know it's a chain but it also kind of a local retsaurant as well since it was founded here and is headquartered here. I always have a great meal at Outback although it is no way as good as my top two. I have not been to Bern's so I can't rate it. The Argentinian place in Ybor (El Fuego or whatever) was horrible. My steak had more fat on it than meat and the Delmonico was so tough I could not even chew it. TamHavPolis May 16th, 2006, 07:57 AM Best steakhouses in the Bay Area, IMO 1. Bern's 2. Malio's (before it shut down... hopefully the new one is good) 3. Charlie's (if it's still open). Favorite steakhouses ever: 1. Peter Luger Steakhouse, Brooklyn, NY - The steak is pure, grilled money. You can order thick sliced bacon to accompany it that is just orgasmically good. 2. Gallagher's Steakhouse, Manhattan - a New York classic, with great salads, delicious steaks, and hundreds upon hundreds of celebrity autographs and sports memorabilia. cwat212 May 16th, 2006, 04:36 PM Hey TamHavPolis, I love St. Elmos! I agree on Peter Luger's - awesome. The trip over the bridge is a real adventure! Charlie's is still there and always crowded. leglace May 17th, 2006, 04:24 AM Anyone ever try Iavarone's? Jasonhouse May 18th, 2006, 01:54 AM ^I've been there numerous times over the years... Always for pasta though. cwat212 May 18th, 2006, 04:42 PM Isn't it Malio Iavarone? I believe the restaraunt is part of the same family as Malio's. I have been there and it is very good. Jasonhouse May 19th, 2006, 12:12 AM ^That is correct. |
