Lousy law enforcement. Bribe officers and dirty bus companies don't get fined. This is Malaysia. We need to change.

The system do not come on line yet.

It is still under installation process.

So far, it is being installed in Kelana Jaya, Bangsar and 1 Utama bus hubs. Larger panels will be installed in RapidKL bus hubs (potentially that means Maluri LRT might be the next one too).

According to this, it should be operational by end of this year.

Most likely in bus hubs and selected major bus stops. In Melbourne, this system (on trams and buses) have similar systems like that. This too announce the arrival of the transportation system.

PETALING JAYA: At least 850 new buses will be required until 2012 by RapidKL to achieve the target of 70% coverage for bus ridership in Klang Valley.

The Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) said that RapidKL had already purchased 470 buses to achieve the target.

Pemandu said its newly-launched Bus Expressway Transit routes BET7 and BET8, servicing commuters in the Sri Nilam and Semenyih districts to travel to and from the city, was on track.

Since the launch of the two routes in July, BET7 has benefited an average of 254 commuters and BET8 an average of 214 daily.

BET7 and BET8 are in addition to the existing six routes.

The BET service features RapidKL buses utilising existing highways to travel between the selected destinations and the city centre to avoid traffic congestion on more fre-quently-used routes, resulting in faster journeys.

BET7 provides transit between Sri Nilam and Lebuh Ampang using the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH), which saves commuters up to 20 minutes of travel time.

The BET8 route offers commuters a shorter travel time between Sri Semenyih and Central Market using both the Grand SAGA and SILK highways.

This route saves commuters 30 to 75 minutes of travel time as previously there were no direct routes between Semenyih and Kuala Lumpur.

The fares for the BET7 and BET8 routes are RM2.50 and RM3.00 respectively.

The introduction of BET under the GTP's Urban Public Transport NKRA in 2010 has significantly reduced travel time for commuters who live in suburban areas that are further away from the city.

Engine so thundering noisy, honking no one's business, speeding as if their own road, broken buses and heavy smoke, driven by who care indon drivers, really run by a mafia gang, METROBUS。 Correction HELLBUS.
Why are they still very much existent? Very good question for Minister to answer.

I dont understand how they get away with a lot?Waiting for pax wherever they like,dirty buses,over speeding !I think SPAD should take away their operating license without any hesitation until they get their act together.STOP hiring foreigners once and for all!:bash:

From I have read, this a key area that need for improvement

Toward this they will setup new regulation regime to re-structuring bus system, re-route and enforce new regulation. In next five years, before MRT1 completed, bus system in KL/KV will be contract base. Operator will fight for the route, not they are creating the route like now..

Standard RapidKL bus is 12 metres long. This short bus serves around suburbs, housing areas.

Not sure about the "E", at least, the builder is SKS Bus, not sure about chassis supplier though.

8 metre long, I guess we should get more of these since we have very large suburban areas.

Mostly pedestrian crossing the road!DBKL cant seem to get it right with that stretch ,parking is such a mess!They need to repaint the lines at 90 degrees.

Noticed that they put up those plastic barriers to separate the lanes. Any chances permanent ones will go up ?

Can't really say whether traffic improves or not. Traffic was smooth when I got to work at 10:30, need few more days to know for sure.

We told the FT Minustry to build the lane in with the Brickfields redevelopment project, instead they offered it as a separate project that upset lots of people -so they delayed.

It looks like it was done in a rush, but it was just done very poorly, planned very poorly, and serious effort not made.

Ha ha, so true, I almost rode myself into an incoming bus this evening while trying to get into the slipway next to the Brickfields Post Office

RapidKL bus now talking with Len Seng and SJ Bus for joint operation such as marketing, scheduling, infrastructure, buses, tickets etc.

They should have done that from the very beginning!

These kinds of initiatives should have been SPAD's from the get go. Where are they now ?SPAD is dealing with the crisis in the bus industry the best way they know how - telling everyone to find their own way to fix the problem in the short term (subsidy, 'cooperation') while SPAD tries to figure out its own action plans to get the Bus Transformation Plan implemented.

i personally think the best place to start is Penang, since the Penang Government has had a past role and present role in public transport service, they have experience with contracting out services (CAT & BEST) and they have already got the Penang transport Council.

Not to mention, SPAD COO Azhar Ahmad was formerly CEO of RapidPenang, so we can be assured of cooperation on all sides.

As for the Prasarana proposal, it is a good idea for the supply side to take care of their side of the industry, but it should also be acknowledged that the presence of Prasarana & RapidKL is one contributor to the decline of stage bus services.

As long as the perception of unfair competition remains strong, why would private bus companies want to cooperate with RapidKL?

Now, if Prasarana is willing to support the gross-cost contract or net-cost contract model, and is willing to support the formation of a local public transport organizing authority, and most importantly, is willing to divest its interest in RapidKL (both the bus operating company and the service brand) then perhaps the idea is worth consideration.

Actually, the bus route is T625, not T624 as T624 actually starts at Kelana Jaya station.

I saw more of these buses at the compound of Asia Jaya station, so indeed, I think these buses will start appearing more often on PJ's roads.

New ruling for RapidKL bus drivers

Kuala Lumpur: RapidKL will no longer make it compulsory for their bus drivers to complete a certain amount of trips per day for extra allowance in their effort to enhance services for the passengers.

The director of the Bus Division, Zohari Sulaiman said the new ruling, effective early this month, hoped to reduce complaints against their drivers who were said to often detour from designated routes in order to complete their trips.

"We have told our drivers to keep strictly to their routes regardless of the traffic situation. They do not have to rush as we have decided to do away with the requirement of minimum trips to earn their incentive allowance.

"We believe that some of them were doing this to ensure that they keep their daily number of trips to qualify for their incentive payments," he said in a statement here, today.

Prior to this, Zohari said he was also informed that some of the bus drivers often took short cuts when their bus was overloaded at their own discretion.

"We will continue to keep on reminding our bus drivers on this in making sure that they do not take short cuts and they do not by-pass any bus stop and they are required to operate the system in accordance with the approved routes.

"We will continue to monitor the bus drivers closely and those found to be flouting the law will face disciplinary action," he said adding that RapidKL was also working on new incentives for the drivers. -- Bernama
