Yea Marrakech nightlife is pretty good, that's why on New Year's eve it's flooded by people from casablanca and rabat (I celebrated almost every NYE there)
Casablanca's picking up on that though, shouldn't come as a surprise though, We've got much more nightclubs in casa than our fellow marrakchi.
P.S: Pacha in Casablanca? where did you hear about that ?

i heard it gonna be in the place of karting of sindibad
even if im casaoui but i think that marrakech has the best night clubs and the biggest , pacha is the biggest night club in africa, before it was paradise.

i agree with you , but there are no north african in this forum beside moroccans, even if there are here we never hear of them and they are inactice , then why bother to create a north african and i think a moroccan subforum will put more the spot on morocco and people can discover through it what is going on in morocco and discover a new image of Morocco, specially that most sites about morocco are done by foreigners and they focus always on the country side

hey man it will be great, but i think we have to wait a little bit more to see if the moroccan forumers are active enough , if we see that during two weeks moroccans are posting regularly and there is enough interaction we can request a moroccan forum , look the lebaneese they fighted very hard for it

Marvels of Marrakech
With Marrakech witnessing an unprecedented surge in tourist arrivals, the pink city is taking the lead as the engine of Morocco's tourism development drive.
The boom means finding a room in Marrakech for the weekend is becoming increasingly difficult. Last year, arrivals were up 22% to 1.4m, according to official figures, and there was an unprecedented 27% surge in the number of nights spent, reaching 5.3m. This performance allowed hotels to enjoy an occupancy rate of 68%.
Yet with a 30% increase in the number of beds expected for 2008, as well as an extensive infrastructure development programme, Marrakech looks set to achieve its ambitious objective of doubling the number of nights spent over the next two years.
Looking at the figures, the French market in 2005 remained firmly in pole position with a 23% increase in visitors over 2004. Arrivals from the former colonial power accounted for 52% of all arrivals. Internal tourism came second with 18% of visitors, but this only marginally increased over 2004.
The steepest increases came from the EU market, with arrivals from Spain up 37%, reaching a market share of 6%, while UK arrivals jumped 44%, making up 5% of all arrivals. The Belgian and German markets both provided just 2% of total arrivals, but displayed hefty increases of 48% and 40%, respectively.
The least dynamic markets within the EU were Italy and Switzerland - yet even these provided 16% and 14% more tourists than the previous year.
Quite importantly, while they account for just 1% each, the Arab and US markets also showed strong growth, with 20% and 25% increases. This is seen as a good omen for the future, as Morocco is bent on diversifying its target markets. This is with a view to reaching 10 million arrivals by 2010 as part of the government's widely-publicised Vision 2010 tourism development programme.
According to the Regional Tourism Centre (CRT) for Marrakech, the main reasons behind this surge - apart from the pink city's unbeatable charm - were a high demand from tour operators and the resulting increase in flights, which pushed the number of passengers at Marrakech's international airport to 2.2m in 2005, up 32%.
Other significant factors were Morocco's recent promotion effort, mainly targeted on the French market, and the development of niche markets such as golfing tourism and MICE events.
Another encouraging element is the success of guest houses, especially in the old medina, with many foreign investors buying old riads - the traditional Moroccan house with an internal garden and courtyard - to renovate and convert into guests houses. These can be rented by the room or privatised for groups, with a range of services including home-made food and often a hammam. This formula offers tourists an opportunity to experience the way of life of well-off Moroccan families, and is becoming increasingly sought after.
Yet while most tourism officials around the world would no doubt be content with such results, this doesn't seem to be even remotely enough for Marrakech - as evidenced by the ambitious objectives the CRT recently announced for the next three years.
Indeed, the CRT is working to boost the number of arrivals to 2.4m by 2008, up from 1.4m last year, and to increase the average length of stay from 3.8 days in 2005 to five days in 2008. Should these objectives be achieved, Marrakech would enjoy a 120% surge in the total number of nights spent, thus pushing occupancy rates up to 75%.
Yet the CRT is aware that achieving this will require some 40 flights per day by 2008, which translates into an annual growth of around 10% in passenger traffic.
With the pink city's international airport thus expected to process a traffic of 2.8m passengers in 2008, and to top 3m the following year, the airport extension programme comes at the right time. This aims at boosting total capacity to some 8m passengers per year, by first doubling the capacity of the existing terminal, then building a new 20,000 m2 terminal. A cargo terminal is also in the offing, as well as a brand-new handling building.
Looking at ground transportation, the authorities are building a new, larger train station. The city is also improving bypasses leading to main roads in and around the city.
With plans to attract more residential tourists, a hospital and a multi-purpose clinic next year are also in the pipeline.
While the authorities are also working on a dam to protect the city from floods, as well as improving sewage treatment, a number of observers are wary that a serious water crisis might be looming. The increase in arrivals and the numerous tourism and residential development projects - which usually encompass lush gardens and a flurry of swimming pools to make up for the absence of a beach - are putting local water resources under serious stress.
Yet that doesn't seem to be stopping the developers, with some 229 tourism and residential projects recorded for 2005 and 2006, for a total investment of Dh24.6bn (2.3bn euros).
According to Hicham Baiz, the head of marketing and communications at local real estate giant CGI, the best is yet to come as Marrakech has only realised 60% of its real-estate potential.
Yet the current rush on land and development might turn out to be the main danger for Marrakech's long term performance. Rather than its impressive - and mostly brand new - tourism infrastructure, the city's main selling arguments have long been its picturesque quality and tradition - two aspects that might be put in jeopardy if the building goes on without check. As one Marrakech-born tourism official told OBG, The city is at risk of losing its soul.
On that account, the key challenge for the authorities may well be to control and direct the pink city's development in such a way that it realises its amazing growth potential without damaging its unique magic in the process.

u are right nwusaad, and i don't understand why in foreign tv's always show the poor area of the cities or its country side , while in develloped coutries they always show the good part of the city. i don't know if it done in purpose, but i hope it will change.
because lately i just saw a documentary about dubai which shows only the gold sook , the tradional boats in deira , they just showed quicky the etisalat building, while they ignored the major parts of dubai which is very modern like seick zaed road and the dubai marina...... this is just an example that piss me off about the foreign documentaries about third world countries

I love marrakech.. but each time I read about the projects that are being made I am scared about the water supply in the region. So many new tourism projects incorporate golfs, I really hope that the authorities will stop granting projects for golf projects in marrakech and work to make the existing ones unique.
Its so nice to note that an area that dry is well endowned with water supply! probably one of the only places in the world like that!!

Big City Life TV show has placed Marrakech amongst the 10 most beautiful cities in the World.

Les équipes de la chaîne de télé Voyage viennent de plier bagages, après deux semaines de tournage à Marrakech où la chaîne a réalisé quatre épisodes de son nouveau magazine Big city life.
Une série documentaire de quarante épisodes, de 52 minutes chacun, sur les dix plus belles villes du monde : Paris, New York, Londres, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Rio, Rome, Moscou, Bruxelles et bien sûr Marrakech. À raison de quatre épisodes par ville, le magazine raconte chacune d’entre elles à travers les intérieurs de ses personnalités (architecture, décoration, mode de vie... Le tout entrecoupé de saynètes du quotidien de la rue. Une belle promotion touristique. Pour la peine, le maire de la ville, Omar Jazouli, s’est lui-même prêté au jeu et a ouvert la porte à l’indiscrétion de la caméra.
