lol Beirut! I spent 15 hours + on my butt doing nothing the whole time, I had to move lol :) The first hour I got to Beirut my cousin took me around the corniche and the hot air balloon :). It was amazing... but I got a bit tired so I had to take a little nap. It's 4 now and I'm awake, I can't sleep i'm to excited + the time differences lol :)

Well,maybe construction is done,but i can see that it needs final touches,besides it's not open yet for prayers and visits.

I think they are putting the final touches on the interior... I dont think it is open to the public yet.

No no no,this is bahaa din hariri mosque in sidon(another impressive one).it's now the biggest one in lebanon,not for long time,koz the mohammed al amin mosque is not open YET.

Hey guysssss, i'm finally in Lebanon. FINALLY :):):) and this place transformed soooooooooo fast. This is amazing Beirut is amazing and omgoodness I have so many pictures for you guys like I promiss. Great shots Nadini. I arrived in Lebanon on Saturday, but I've been busy with family. I only went to downtown once and did not yet get a chance to go on the hot air balloon.

The Mohammad Al Amin Mosque is not open yet. I think I heard a while ago that it will open during Eid al Fitr. They supposidly are still working on the interior, but the exterior is pretty much finished.

Yes, they moved it recently because the plot of land it was originally operating from was sold and they are going to build a building there.

This pic is indeed 2 floors. The mall which is 4 floors is located right behind this pic. If you look at the lower middle end of the pic, you see 4 neon lights of Häagen-Dazs. The mall is located behind that.

Last time i was in Beirut i realized they were painting all that area ...(on the highway that lead to the Mat7af) i think it looks really nice !

I noticed one in achrafiyeh, I just couldn't get down there to check it out, I really wanna know what it is it looks really tall, let me find u a picture of it from far

last summer they were digging for a new highrise in front of long beach/luna park on the corniche... do you you see anything rising by any chance? some pics of billboards would be nice if you are able too...

The colors in Lebanon are much lighter than this and look much better than that pic of Mexico.

I'm just saying that pink and yellow are tacky colors to paint a building. Maybe they look better in person. :)

To find the location of that building, I used that company's address that I found in a web page. However, it seems that the address is wrong. Sorry, my reference leaded me to the wrong direction. As Beirut! said, this building is close to Hamra region, behind Phoenicia Intercontinental Hotel.

I was in Lebanon for 5 weeks. I got back a week ago. I live in the USA, however I always take a lot of pictures when I am in Lebanon.

The most noticable difference is that the Horizon Tower does not exist in the first shot, it was still a parking lot back then. :)

Is that the Samir Kassir statue? The man was my professor, he was one of my recommenders when I came to the U.S.
I can't believe that when I come to lebanon this summer, instead of visiting him in his office, I will be visiting his statue....

Yes I am lucky indeed, he was a phenomenal person and professor, he practically built my historical consciousness and introduced me to many themes that I still think within.
His class was the only "fun" class we had in our first year, I avoided attending most lectures throughout my college days except for his. his style was impeccable, a memorable story happened between us on my very first day of classes in college (I cannot recount it, people in my cohort could recognize me by it :)).
and he really had a distinct personnality, so confident and mesmerizing.
Not to say that I agreed with his politics, he used to be a PLO supporter, and I never liked `arafatis, and in his last days I thought he pandered too much to right wingers in Lebanon.
But he was one of those people that you meet and never forget, and he really liked his students. I can't bear the thought that he was chosen to be assassinated, if anyone in Lebanon deserves to live, it is people like him.
