I know i'm not the most patient of folk, but all the current development in Sheffield seem sooooooooo slooooooooow!

- The Information Commons seem to have short bursts then nothing

- The Square never seems to alter

- St Pauls #,# & # shows no signs of starting (the machine had gone yesterday!)

- etc

.... yet the student accodomation off Hanover Way (or whatever that section of the road is called) seems to be flying along!

:wallbash:

It wont be any quicker elsewhere, we'd soon moan if buildings that were thrown up quickly began to develop structural faults.

The square IS altering. You cant see the Wilko sign where Parkway meets Park Square now, so its gaining in height.

And of course St Pauls is progressing, this time two weeks, the Yorkshire Grey was still standing, and now it isn't.

I find the timescale of the new road linking the M18 and the airport frustrating. It is only a few miles long but they currently have a completion date of 2012. It could take even longer.

As for a rail link, I dunno if I will still be alive if /when it opens.

The information commons is also buzzing along quite nicely and has reached full height. Im really excited about this one, i just hope the finishing is top-notch (which i have no doubt it will be) and it will be one of sheffields finest new builds!

Did anyone go to the exhibition of the universities proposals for Jessop's Hospital? This will involve the renovation of the fine victorian building as well as some high-quality new builds and will be another exciting project im sure.

I know, i know.

Now the summer's over - i need something to look forward to.

P.S. No mention of the almost complete apartment block at the town end of Penistone Road. What does everyone think? OK (dark) red brick but i think it looks alright. I like the floor to ceiling windows although i wouldn't fancy living by the side of Penistone Rd!

Are you crazy?? Theres more construction happening simultaneously in Sheffield now than for many, many years! Take a look around, theres loads going on and much more in the pipeline to come. There is much to look forward to and slowly but surely the changes and improvements will come but you have to be patient. :)

I fully agree, it's brilliant and very exciting!

... it's just that things seem to be going extremely slow.

Don't worry it's just me.

Ahh nice, it was about time something was done with it. I had started to think it was going to stay abandoned. Is the old Index going to be incorporated into the River Island shop?
