well i wuz working there in Landmark when the clients for Ali Tower came, like i mentioned smwhr in sm other thread, three proposals were shown the client and ofcourse i also got to c them, one was superb i should say, that really deserved to be placed on mmalam , the second one was okay and guess what this is the third on my list. But i hsould say that as usual are society is sick and stuck wid the concept of less giving and more taking back, the output is smthing like u c it now. Its not the fault of the firm i should say, but the investor bring broshures and magazine with western architecture or if not that their own ideas and would finally end up with their own design so the creativity and innovation that an architectural firm should put up does not come forward.

Secondly why is this firm gettin so many project? Well design is smth onwhich clients dont spend much money and they are concerned more on the floor space and saleable area in that floor so since the space designing is so good that the client is satisfied with its return that design is not much to be bothered about.

Now take 22 Storey 'IT Tower' with 22 Storey 'Ali Tower'......same firm isnt it BUT different CLIENT~!! Cresent Tower and Alamgir Tower r good....but Y....again CLIENT and then the firm! If people are concerned about design i would really say that they would go to firms like these then.....Our social behaviour and restriction on freedom in architecture is the only reason why our architecture sucks!! Thats one of my views...!

Now that I have thought about it, I think the problem could be the colour of the glass and the rendering.

If you imagine the glass to be blue like Boulevard Heights or IT Tower and that grey part as proper aluminium Tiles it can look good. Lacks curves though.

I can only make a rough guess.....but that is cost of design plus all the workin drawings....somewhr around 3-5million rupees!

Ur livin in Uk n u still dont understand the price of SPACE? Dont u get the construction trend around here....? Firstly ppl building a high riser on a tiny miny peice of land and u expect them to build a separate parkin complex rite next to it....no one is so damn caring about the socio-economic concerns....so ofcourse the mechanical car parkin got to be underground! What da hell did i write in my second post>>investment= 2 X output return......

They have introduced a new parkin system yet the design sucks! what good are they doin aesthetically....takin care of one problem and neglecting another....!

I believe this is the same tower that'll have a McDonald's branch on the ground floor. They have a small billboard at the site.

true... traffic conditions at mm alam road is Deteriorating day by day.. you find big pit holes and big traffic jams.. and adding to that the construction of these building are also making life difficult... it needs immediate attention of the authorities just like noor jehan road had...!!

well i dnt know what the gov. is doing they announced mm alam redevelopment plans last year to be completed by june 2007 but still it hasnt even started.

thats why i specially focused on these khotas.... way to go khota power....

but these buildings are being constructed at a very slow speed... they must speed up... its taking ages!!!

what kind of goddamned contractors are these who build 18 story buildings on khota power? No wonder supreme court has banned the construction of multi-story buildings. These people just dont have the equipment/expertise to do this sort of construction.

Its a amazing thing they says in the there ADs. that they will built it on worldclass standards i dont think that KHOTA POWER is world class standard :nuts:

basically for excavation work i suppose.. i saw these khotas carrying all the soil being left after excavation of the foundation n all... i guess that was the best solution they could come up with..!!

on my last trip to Lahore I noticed that these khota/ horse pulled vehicles were one of the major reason for traffic mess in Lahore And they were everywhere since they are widely used by small contractors when they are building houses.I didnt know big contractors (like the one in this building) also use them.

I was in a doubt wid that coz the site office is on the left side of the road if we come from firdous market.and just opposite to that is a building under construction which is on the right side of the road.If it is ALI TOWER than it had reached the ground level and work is going on the first floor.

also there is vogue towers which is on the left side before the ali tower office, has been under construction by RS group for ages now.

I was there at MM alam ROAD 2 weeks back i got update for u of vogue towers which is that it is under construction and they are working on the first floor of the tower.i dont know its starting date and no. of floors.I will try to find its thread in the SSC.

yea Ali tower is being constructed with no stoppage.. they have reached ground level and started working on the ground and first floor... i took some pics of the site but were not of the best quality.. will take the pics again to be posted here..!!

All approved drawings, structoral stability certificates, test reports, environmental approvals, TEPA approvals have been examined by the honorable Supreme Court that has granted clearance for the constrution of the tower.

To ensure optimum completion/delivery in the planne timeframe, the serices of M/s. Noor Durrani & Associates have been hired and all materials are used after going through proper checking processes and lab tests.

The non-stop construction work has been ensured under the supervision of two highly qualified engineers. Latest and speady construction techniques, round-the-clock operation and no compromise on quality would help the towers management to fulfil its commitment to deliver this high-standard, high-rise on time.

they are going good but now the work had stopped may be due to the construction of MM ALAM road coz it is closed by the admin for the work on sewerage system there and may be they also newly built MM ALAM ROAD.

hey this tower is going to be 18 floors high now its is just 6 to 7 floors high so how can u say that most of the work is finished .:)

And this one looks way too narrow to be 18 floors tall. Looking at the front picture, the ceilings in it seem to be quite low, so the height of 1 floor must be small, which is why this building would probably be 10-12 floors if its ceiling height was normal.

One reason is that during last 3-4 years construction cost has risen considerably because construction activity has risen manyfolds. The real builders have enough money and strategy to absorb these rising costs but the "hmm..lets make a plaza since we got some money" type are now in a mess because they started with a different estimate, had no contingency plan, and now things are turning out differently.

Another reason is that since we have such and efficient system that if the govt. doesn't like you (or sometimes what you are doing), a stay order will be issued and the authorities would go to sleep. Its now your headache to go to courts, fulfill cumbersome forms and requirements, bribe officials to come and give a go-ahead signal, and ofcourse hope that the court will not just keep giving you dates in the far future. And by the time all this is complete, your investors are gone and the prices have also doubled.

And not to mention that if you are political (all construction builders are) and the govt changes....you're screwed for good. Either change loyalties or wait till you favorite MPA/CM comes back to power, compensates your losses by awarding you contracts at double the price of which you have to spend only half of what you promised. And now you can continue with your construction work.

The authorities aren't to bear the whole blame.....most builders started with flawed plans and do illegal construction.

i dont think so that the work on this tower had halted coz if we look at the last update which idated as of 5 november it was having 6 floor and now on 23 december they are working on 8th floor so atleast they are working but with slow pace :cheers:

Inshallah. but so far we dont have any proposed or U/C taller building around this location. This is MM Allam Road not main boulevard. most of the buildings here are low rise but modern(Designer outlets and Restaurants).

Well, 15+ floor buildings still look good from the air, so if anyone is coming in to land at Lahore such buildings will still give a good look to the city.

^^ good update working on the 11th floor.

so this project also not behind too much as it seems and currently they are matched with the tricon tower on which we can talked about the speedy work on the site but reali i must say that Ali tower would not be so behind now. and hopefully the can complete that project without any further stop in time inshallah.

So according to the article above the tower is 19 storys not 18 so plz change the number of floors on the thread to 19 and it also says that the building wud be ready by the end of this year if i've read it correctly.

ya it may be but it is foolishness to said this thread only because rain comes only for few hours rest of the time it is all available for work. definitely it should be some other reason for that pause.

well thats no excus, it rains in london everyday, but they continue to build 50 story towers

ppl... that was only my guess.... there could be 1000 other reasons to it which i dont know as i am not involved in this project...!!

nothing... they have not added any floor since than... there were some preparations for floor no. 13 but work stopped...

i think it has topped up n they are working on the last floor.. it is not going to have any more floor.. it has reached 18 floors( 5 basements and 13 floors above the ground).. now they have to do the interior and cladding

yup they said so.. but i am guessing it wont be there.... either they ran out of funds and reduced the height or their plans were illegal to build 18 stories..!!

so mechanical parking is kinda doubtful...

Finishing work is in process with full swing. Brick work, plaster and public health work on shopping floor has been finalized. We are in contact with the suppliers of glass, cladding, lifts, escalators etc and the work may be started next month Inshallah.

All the milestones have been achieved with assistance of our clients which are the family members of Ali Tower family. We are thankful to all of our clients and assure that we will leave no stone unturned to safe guard their capital investment.

Been there couple of days ago yeah they have Mcdonalds with thm at Lower Ground Floor.
And its almost complete !!!

In Pakistan the material used for constructing a building is not equal to international standards. I have also visited the Pakistan and stayed at Lahore,Karachi and Faisalabad. In Lahore the Punjab Government demolishing the sky buildings due to prejudice of previous government.

In some areas of Lahore the car parking areas are not maintained and these are producing mob of traffic at road after office closing time. Government is not taking any action against it.

In Karachi the same situation is happening but in Faisalabad Buildings at Jaranwala Road near Koh - e - noor Bus Stop are last hope of modern building construction.

very good quality considering they used Donkey Power Technology to construct it, and god knows what other cheap tactics they used. Its come out quite good.
