i like it in SC 3000 ;)
BGT September 28th, 2002, 06:30 PM 10; that's one heckofa box!
SteelCity32 September 28th, 2002, 06:41 PM BOXY. 5/10
BGT September 28th, 2002, 06:57 PM Yet no one said it to World Trade Center............:bleep:
RafflesCity September 28th, 2002, 08:41 PM 7.5/10
I like its base and its colour, but other than that its quite ordinary.
Sunflower September 28th, 2002, 10:36 PM I like it, but it's not great. 7.5/10
Jasonhouse September 28th, 2002, 10:41 PM Good, but not great. The facade is very bland, and simply lacks any kind of interesting details. It also seems so isolated, though that could be the angle of the pics...
7.0/10
Go7SD September 29th, 2002, 04:31 AM The original name of this building was the "Golden Tower". She's quite a beauty still remains to be my favorite building in Asia. I saw this building go up in April of 1984. In June of 1986 I went up to the observatory to catch a nice view over looking the Han River and the rest of the city. The exterior tube you see on the side of the building is the glass elevator. In the evening this building has an amazing glow reflecting the sunset. Those pics don't do it much justice. You will have to see it in person to know what I'm talking about. I give an 10 easy from experience. Gold facade buildings are hard to come by these days. It may very well be the tallest gold glass facade building in the world.
AG September 29th, 2002, 04:43 AM I love it's sloping walls, it looks good in sc3k as well. It looks somewhat futuristic. 8.5/10
Caledon1981 September 29th, 2002, 06:38 AM gorgeous!!! i do agree with mr. adelaide . .it puts a good finish on my SimCity 3k CBDs!!! 8.7/10
Peter The Great September 29th, 2002, 06:41 AM 4/10
I don't understand why anyone likes this tall box...I gave it a 4 for it's height.
SUNNI September 29th, 2002, 08:00 AM this is the tallest tower ive been to, there is a restaurant at the top floor,(or near the top floor) and u get the best veiw there.
one of my all time favorites
DrumCorpsAlum September 30th, 2002, 06:06 AM It's a box but it makes a statement. 7.5/10.
Winus September 30th, 2002, 01:49 PM Mwah :wink2:
mookiecece October 1st, 2002, 12:00 AM 10/10 u dont see that many golden buildings umm... anywhere.... I believe that this was Asia's tallest when completed, then surpassed by bank of china in hong kong a year later. like Go7SD said I give it a 10 from experience
TallBox October 9th, 2002, 10:18 PM its a nice building, specially in that night pic
hypermount October 10th, 2002, 09:18 AM 5/10
mystad October 11th, 2002, 06:17 PM The bias against boxes in this forum is appalling. This building is a stunner.
SUNNI October 12th, 2002, 07:19 AM how could you call this a box?
mookiecece October 12th, 2002, 11:54 PM y do people hate on boxes??? but u dont hear too many of them say the same about WTC.
RafflesCity October 13th, 2002, 12:00 AM Actually from reading various sources I believe the WTC was disliked before its demise. Labelled as boring and big etc.

BGT October 13th, 2002, 06:20 PM WTC WAS AN UGLY BOX!
mookiecece October 14th, 2002, 02:15 AM why do people call this building a box?? I think it looks more like a board....
SUNNI October 14th, 2002, 09:27 AM who voted under 3.5?
NickT October 14th, 2002, 04:50 PM I really like the sloping bottom
cgrassham October 15th, 2002, 03:55 PM This isn't a box, its a great design 9/10 I love its sloping sides
Dan October 16th, 2002, 02:40 AM 9/10 :)
Monkey October 16th, 2002, 05:02 AM Well, if it isn't a box, what do you call a building with a uniform flat surface?
This one seems to need light, both natural and artificial, in order to make a statement. 4.0.
SUNNI October 17th, 2002, 10:41 AM it has a slope on each side,
DamienK October 17th, 2002, 05:01 PM There was once a picture of this building with the sun striking the sloped side and it was all lit up like on fire - an amazing shot. Like a giant gold bullion. I give it 8.5/10.
mookiecece October 17th, 2002, 11:33 PM do you have that picture?
SUNNI October 19th, 2002, 03:09 AM http://cnscenter.future.co.kr/icisc01/images/63city_03s.jpg this is my fav
enzo October 21st, 2002, 01:36 PM Tacky glazing (I've never been a bronze fan) but I like the subtle curves and form in general.
7.5/10
CTroyMathis October 23rd, 2002, 01:49 AM The gentle slope, height, and view at an angle showing how narrow it is... 7.5.

nice pics
Umawi November 9th, 2002, 02:35 PM Very nice. I would have given it an 8 but with that night photo it gets 9 :)
Steven November 10th, 2002, 01:02 AM Its still just a big glass box with no real look of its own eccept the fact that it gets smaller the higher it goes.
8.0/10
Jeff from Winnipeg November 11th, 2002, 02:46 AM Meh -> 4/10
Liz L November 15th, 2002, 01:14 AM 8/10 - yes, it is a box - but definitely a classier box than some I've seen - it takes to the sky well, since it's tall and slender enough not to look too chunky even broad side on; the slope manages to be graceful, and that facade really dances with the light (OK, I'm a real sucker for that...) The narrow strips of contrasting glass on the narrow sides are a good touch, too.
This one, just like the WTC did, depends on the light for much of its effect - but it handles it pretty well...
giallo November 15th, 2002, 12:30 PM Very nice indeed! 9.0

D-Mac November 20th, 2002, 07:03 AM Very beautiful! The golden façade is perfect and unique. The sweeping out at the base gives it some visual distintiveness and saves it from being regarded as a simple box. Furthermore, it has a very powerful presence being surrounded by no other tall buildings. To top it all off, it's gorgeous at night. There's no reason why box-ish skyscrapers can't be appealing, and this is my favourite boxscraper (or box-ish scraper) in the world. 9.5/10
CG5 November 25th, 2002, 02:41 AM This "almost-box" is downright elegant. GREAT pics, BTW. I really like this one.
8/10
SUNNI November 25th, 2002, 09:36 AM well said D-Mac
well said indeed:D
Bobdreamz November 27th, 2002, 10:52 PM the sloping design and the gold facade makes this more than just a box...it's an elegant sleek building and not overbearing for such a subtle design....8.0/10...by the way nice pics mookiecece!!

London™ February 1st, 2003, 04:09 AM At least it is better than WTC or most of the buildings I know in design. Especially its colour. It would be better for Toronto's skyline if FCP was just looks like that. AMAZING. 10/10
renell February 8th, 2003, 11:57 AM i dont like the facade too much, but the design is fine, going beyond the normal box 6.5

plasma169 March 1st, 2003, 05:58 PM What? No one has not yet posted an aerial photo of a KLI building? :D
http://www.photopp.com/gallery/Seoul/aerial%20photographing/img/015.jpg
mookiecece March 2nd, 2003, 02:30 AM that pic's old but great!!! look how golden it looks
MFrobotH34D March 6th, 2003, 04:09 PM The shape is great, and it looks really nice from the base if there is a blue sky -- the gold reflecting blue gives it an awesome two tone look (silvery blue and amazing,$ check it out here (http://www.geocities.com/mfrobothead/Korea/kli63.html))$
I also like the way it looks at night. The red (becon looking) lights running up the four corners look really cool -- they make it look like an airport terminal buidling or something. The external elevator also adds to the overall coolness of night time views.
But during the day, especially on overcast and smoggy days, it looks gross. I don't like the hue of the gold mixed with these environmental conditions. I also don't like how isolated it is over on the tip of Yeouido (by the way, does anyone know what the construction project is thats going up right beside it? Apartments?)
The damned thing is hard to photograph. I still havent found the ideal spot. Theres always other crap in the way. From the other side of the Han it's too far for my 3x zoom to capter nicely. Anybody know a good vantage point to take night photos?
mookiecece March 6th, 2003, 09:12 PM I'm not a good photographer so don't know much about good spots to take pics... but anyway the buildings going up right next to KLI 63 is Richensia twin towers(150m, residential).
I suppose your familiar with hangul?? if so, go to http://cafe.daum.net/skyscrapers and register and you'll be able to view this pic showing Richensia and KLI 63 together

Really great! I like the shape and simplicity of this building, except those weird things on the sides near the bottom. Color bugs me a little as well, but because its a little unusual it is ok.
Rapid August 4th, 2004, 07:49 AM Isn't there one like this in Chicago, but this one looks a hundred times better because of the facade
Ellatur August 10th, 2004, 03:25 AM i never liked its design as i saw it many times on the way to the airport, 7/10
Ashram August 22nd, 2004, 11:29 PM I like the gold colored glass. It doesn't look cheesy, because the building isn't over-done with ornamental decorations. It's sleek. 7/10
Stratosphere 2020 August 23rd, 2004, 03:40 PM Very elegant, I guss it is the gold and slender vertical width of the tower. 9.

i_am_hydrogen November 28th, 2005, 06:40 AM The design is by no means amazing, but this building has a quietude about it that I find attractive. I also like the simple pattern on the facade.

Red_Dragon808 December 6th, 2005, 08:18 PM Gold in the facade does not look good ever even if today were the 1980s. 7 out of 10

Scruffy88 January 9th, 2006, 09:11 PM I love the sloping side. from the ground, it makes the building seem even taller. This was a worthy building to be the tallest in the continent for however long that was.
8.5/10
LordMarshall January 24th, 2006, 04:19 AM 8/10
JV_325i January 24th, 2006, 08:20 AM I like this one, although the curve along the sides could have been pulled off better, as the arc is slightly irregular and doesn't uniformly sweep up the sides. I also don't care for the facade, it doesn't give the building any depth and forces the building to rely on that awkward curve for its only source of visual interest. This building also highly resembles the Bank of America tower in Chicago (probably because they were both designed by SOM) and the one in Chicago seems like it worked out better than this one.

Manila-X January 24th, 2006, 08:36 AM This to me is Seoul's landmark scraper. The building looks nice though :)

Sister Ray April 22nd, 2006, 12:44 PM This is my favourite tower in Seoul.
When I first saw it I felt the gold colour was a little ostentatious and didn't care for the building that much. Then one day I was crossing the Han on one of the many bridges, and saw KLI 63 reflected in the water of the river. I've loved this building ever since.

this kind of wafer-like buildings normally look good only with a clean top and clean sides. the architect messed up both.

Barry_Hulk February 2nd, 2007, 07:02 AM Looks gold, tall, and powerful... 8
Also shows how far Asia has come with its skyscrapers in the last twenty odd years if an 817 ft building was its tallest in 1985. Asia rules now....
Doesn't look good in the future for Ford, GM, or Chrysler in NASCAR with Toyota coming this year... :)
imani February 2nd, 2007, 03:04 PM 4 / 10
a building like this won't look good unless the top and the sides are clean.
