* I decided to make a fresh thread for this project because the other one drifted way off topic and this tower (one of my favorites) has gotten ignored. That being said, could we please stay on topic in this thread and discuss this tower and related projects...what does everyone think about this design?

I miss talking about my fav U/C tower... for those of you in Lebanon have you noticed any construction activity resuming at the site?

When I left Lebanon I saw some construction workers at the Four Season Hotels, Marina Towers and at the Grand Hayatt hotel, the others I didn't pass by.

This looks like it was during the war because the city looks too quiet. Also, it only really rained and became gloomy when the war started (rumor has it that Israel released some sort of chemical to create rain clouds so that the view of their planes and ships could be obstructed!)

It's normal to rain in beirut in july for several days,especially in the morning...it even rain in august but just for minutes :D

Beirut! dont forget that when there is a lot of smoke, due to the bombings, it releases chemicals in the air itself and forms a cloud overhead.

I wanted to take a pic which shows the underground levels of the tower. There were at least 5 to 6 floors. Unfortunately, the security officer over there prevented me from taking pics from the inside. (His tone was very very rude!)

One or two new floors have been added.
Unfortunately, I cannot take pics during these times in Central Beirut because of the tense situation. The army is all over the place and probably they won't let me take some shots.

PT's middle block has surpassed Monroe. However, the floors have not. Currently, works are going on the eighth and ninth floors.

As it's obvious, PT is rising.

In the pic Hassoun posted, there are two updates for you guys.
First, you see the plot of Dib and Town Tower enclosed. (back of PT)
Second, you see DAMAC has set an "enclosed tent" (white colour) as an office for promoting La Residence. (back of Dib and Town Tower plot)

I was watching a news thread on Future tv tonight,they were talking about the Projects on hold due to current situation in lebanon,Anyway,,,The camera showed Marina area and the water front,,i counted 14-15 floors for PT.And it's Rising so fast,they r really working on this one :banana:

Ok,They talked about "la residence" Saying it was meant to be complete after 2 and a half years,but now,It's on hold,Also the "Beirut Gates" Facing some problems regarding its 'Shares' or something,UT,they said once the political crisis is over ,everything will be back on track so fast.

They Just mentioned 'La residence' and 'Beirut Gates'

But they mentioned that projects worth 5 Billion $ , are ON HOLD.

Beirut!, to answer your question, I guess it is still early to cover the building with the green clothing. When the construction gets finished, i.e. they reach 34 floors, they'll cover it.

Nadini, unfortunately I couldn't take a picture showing Four Seasons, but I guess work is needed with regards to the crown.

Yes,it's indeed huge,didn't look that huge in the renders :S nowif this is only 120 meters,i'm really starting to think that MT is not actually 150 meters high.

^^ In this picture the MT is further behind the PT so it looks smaller when really it is not. I think the PT only looks so huge from this side view, not really from the rear for frontal views.

Also don't forget that the MT is not 150m, it would have beem 150m with
the spire but we still dont know whether or not they are putting it.

^^ It's a different angle than we are use to seeing. Thats the AUB student center in the foreground and the Horizon Tower in the background. What I dont like is how the PT has totally blocked the view of the Beirut Tower from this view.

Hassoun what you are seeing is the marine defence system which alowed for the reclamation..it is 2 tired so pedestrians can walk..I dont see much difference in the 4 seasons

UPDATE: Guys i passed by Platinum tower last night some MAJOR cladding work has been done, unfortunately i didnt have my cam

^^ thats because the PT is closer to us than the MT. In any case, if im not mistaken, PT is higher then the MT if you don't include the spire on the MT (thats if they include)

Was this always the planned height, or was it increased at a later time? Because for some reason it was stated that the height was 134 meters.

^^there's something being built on top of the "Top three floors",what's that?

^^ They still have to build the frame at the top. If you look at the render it's almost equivalent to the height of 2 floors; however, the frame should be on the sides not in the middle, so maybe this is beit al daraj :)

Litrain- I can guess maybe they continued with the central shaft (they construct/ed all floors this way)..and will extend to the sides...Its probably for the elevators and mechanical structures on the roof (hidden)

The Most Interesting Part about this Tower is the Facade , The Color will Change throughout the day time.Can't wait Till it's Completed!!!!!Seriously the Should Start with the cladding and they should finish it ASAP :cheer:
