xzmattzx May 27th, 2006, 02:02 AM great pictures. not many people can say that they've seen greenland.
those "rivers of ice" are probably glaciers.

GrigorisSokratis May 27th, 2006, 07:14 AM mmmmm, I'm craving for an ice cream....
Dr. Dubai May 27th, 2006, 10:47 AM Nice pics. I've seen Greenland for several times too. That glacier on photo 7 is amazing!!
Þróndeimr May 27th, 2006, 10:51 AM Amazing photos, reminds me of Norway 10 000 years ago! ;)
Hviid May 27th, 2006, 02:29 PM Wow... look at all that green in Greenland ;) You know not all of Greenland is ice and snow! Pretty much all along the eastern, southern, and western coast/border, it's ice/snowfree (in the summer) and can even get "up to" +10 degrees :)
Anyway, thanks for showing us a part of Denmark not too many people have seen before :okay:
cphdude May 27th, 2006, 07:45 PM ^^Jep...And it is very beautiful in the sun...
El_Greco May 27th, 2006, 07:47 PM surreal...

Greenland is really green in the Southernmost tip, the rest is mostly glacier and packed ice.

Renkinjutsushi May 29th, 2006, 03:39 AM Amazing! It reminds me of when we flown over Alaska and I really love pic #10. :D

Pity me for my ignorance, but is there any sign of civilization in Greenland?

It's not much.. But what do you expect, from a province with a population of only 56,000 ;)
porcelain May 29th, 2006, 08:48 AM Kalaallit Nunaat, meaning "the humans' Land", still in English that is Greenland or Grønland in Danish. Thank you very much for these pics - I have never been/seen. Are the last two pictures taken in Nuuk (Godthåb), the capital?
Hviid May 29th, 2006, 02:34 PM /\ to be honest, i have no clue :) I would guess so...
cmoonflyer May 29th, 2006, 05:08 PM Impressive !
Neitzsche May 31st, 2006, 01:14 AM And to think scientists reckon that we may be close to setting of an inexorable melting of the country. Madness.
chris_yk May 31st, 2006, 02:30 AM there's no way those 2 photos are of Nuuk, the capital. it is a modern city of around 15 000 people where construction just finished on a 9-story building downtown, making it the tallest building in the country.
Renkinjutsushi May 31st, 2006, 07:16 AM Some pics of Nuuk:

messiah June 1st, 2006, 04:05 PM How is it possible to live there? I would move to any EU country instead of living there.
volvox June 1st, 2006, 05:32 PM I hope one day I will have the chance to visit Grønnland... I think it is fascinating.

It wouldn't be THAT bad :) Economy wise, they're doing pretty good (compared to their size), making around $20,000 US on average (a year)..
When it comes to weather, and architecture, the place does kinda suck :D
icy June 2nd, 2006, 12:06 AM looks cool
hkia June 3rd, 2006, 06:09 AM What do people do there?
Hviid June 3rd, 2006, 05:15 PM /\ what do you mean?
They do exactly what normal people in the western world do... they work, play sports, go to school, go to church, fish, hmm..
cladiv June 3rd, 2006, 05:24 PM wonderful scenery, possibly one of the last truly natural spots remaining on the planet.
