KJBrissy on the first pic Curtain extended the spire in PS, it's not that long, the 7th pic is also of the old design.

Also word is Vision is now around 265m to roof, 290m to spire.

It looks really nice, but what's with the crooked antennae?

The crooked spire is to follow the shape of the building, a straight spire IMO would look demented.

Vision looks like overweight Q1. its a great skyscraper. will be one hell of a project. unusual how observation decks will be down at 200m/61st floor, but should still give great perspective of city.

This is an excellent tower. It looks different to other curved glass towers. It has something to it I love. Brisbane has a bright future with this tower.

I'll agree that Q1 is more straight up-and-down, while Vision is curvy. Which I prefer is going to have to wait until I see the cladding....though hometown bias might rule anyway.

This is truly an amazing tower. Australia is very lucky to get it. And as someone said before, yes it does look a lot like a shark's fin, but that's a good thing.

We should just hope it doesn't get ruined like Q1 did IMO with the cladding.

Its getting double glazing.. ie 2 layers of glass... So even if its pretty pale (even IF) then it will get canceled out due to the 2 layers

The actual height is 259m to ROOF and 283m to SPIRE.

Great news all-round for a great looking tower! Even if it turned out 1/2 as good as its renders, it'll still be a winner.

Back when I was in Brisbane, in 1992, Brisbane Central towered over the city. Now it looks quaint. ;)

The display centre has shut down and it has 'construction site - no entry' signs there. All the cars in the carpark also have leaflets on all of their windows saying that the carpark will be no longer open! Maybe start before the end of the week??

This is certainly going to be a great project, one to watch in fact.

Austcorp Group Limited has confirmed that a construction contract has been signed with Grocon to start work on the $900 million Vision project this month. The inital works include demolition of the Vision display suite and the carpark facility currently on site, followed by the excavation of the 7 level basement car park.

Austcorp Executive Chairman Trevor Chappell confirmed:

"We have sufficient pre-sales of apartments in place to confirm the strong acceptance of the project.

With strong interest expressed in the commercial, retail and car parking components of the building. Mr Chappell said "we are confident that this will lead to the sale of these components, in the near future".

The iconic 79-level building – Brisbane’s tallest tower – is being built by Australia’s leading privately owned construction group, Grocon who will move onto the Vision site this month. The project will be Grocon’s first in Brisbane.

To date Vision has secured 221 unconditional apartment sales of the tower’s total 401 apartments.

Not really, Prep not UC. Once the Piling us underway then it's UC.

I would say it is U/C.

Site works are well underway and from what I have heard the digging has gotten a little deeper.

This'll take a while with seven basement floors. Most exciting building under construction in Oz at the moment.

You're right. However I think Vision will take lead on its own. It has unparalleled curves and quite a unique spire. Top this with twin-layered reflective glass and I think Brisbane may have a timeless landmark.

the site measures 60m/200ft x 90m/300ft. thats 5400sqm!
the whole site will be dug 24m not just part, so its a lot of soil being dug.

each carpark level will be 3m high

The developers had the idea that the Federal government could bail them out with money from that part of the economic stimulus package reserved for certain classes of property. Wishful thinking, but it won't happen. The government won't be propping up speculative residential (or commercial) developments. If they had enough pre-sales to make the project financially viable then a bank might lend them the money. Without confirmed pre-sales, nothing will happen.

You can find up to date information here in the Australian forum (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=457513&page=55) though it doesn't sound to good.

I have been told from a reliable source that Austcorp are close to finalising a deal to offload the site. They have absolutely no intention to build Vision.

Cool building. It's boring though. Very typical of today's architecture. Tall however, which will improve the skyline.
