Locke May 27th, 2006, 08:09 AM KJBrissy on the first pic Curtain extended the spire in PS, it's not that long, the 7th pic is also of the old design.
Also word is Vision is now around 265m to roof, 290m to spire.
Another pic of the new design:

samsonyuen May 27th, 2006, 09:12 AM It looks really nice, but what's with the crooked antennae?
KJBrissy May 27th, 2006, 09:17 AM The crooked spire is to follow the shape of the building, a straight spire IMO would look demented.
alon123 May 27th, 2006, 09:33 AM nice building ... very similar to the dubai almas tower though
Þróndeimr May 27th, 2006, 11:07 AM Vision Tower is going to be really amazing. When will the construction work start?
south May 27th, 2006, 11:44 AM good to see Queensland finally getting the 'scrapers it deserves. Hope it's the start of a long rivalry between Brisbane, Gold Coast and Melbourne to have the tallest!
KJBrissy May 27th, 2006, 01:58 PM Vision Tower is going to be really amazing. When will the construction work start?
Very early July
Þróndeimr May 27th, 2006, 02:02 PM Very early July
O ok, then i guess its completed in 2009 or something?
KJBrissy May 27th, 2006, 02:09 PM Because of the 7 level basement I've heard construction will finish 2010
R@ptor May 27th, 2006, 02:11 PM This building just keeps getting taller and taller. :)
Phobos May 27th, 2006, 06:00 PM This building has such an elegant design :okay:
Bertez May 27th, 2006, 06:39 PM Very nice:D
CrazyCanuck May 27th, 2006, 06:53 PM Looks pretty good, but I don't like the spire. It is not needed on this building. The way it is shapped it is almost like a sharks fin.
Spearman May 27th, 2006, 08:26 PM That is my kind of tower. Nice! :okay:
Mplsuptown May 27th, 2006, 08:42 PM This is no doubt the best of the biggest 3 in Australia. Love the design.
B@dGuYoM May 27th, 2006, 10:45 PM This is no doubt the best of the biggest 3 in Australia. Love the design.
for me Q1 still my fav' :)
SoulvisionQ1 June 17th, 2006, 08:33 AM I like this pic of vision better.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i16/soulvisionQ1/visad.jpg
CULWULLA June 17th, 2006, 09:08 AM Vision looks like overweight Q1. its a great skyscraper. will be one hell of a project. unusual how observation decks will be down at 200m/61st floor, but should still give great perspective of city.
SoulvisionQ1 June 17th, 2006, 03:31 PM ^^ Yeah i can't wait to have dinner at the 5 star restaurant on level 63, then afterwards go for a little stroll down the art gallery above the 5 star restaurant... :) the next few years will be exciting!!
Erebus555 June 17th, 2006, 05:11 PM This is an excellent tower. It looks different to other curved glass towers. It has something to it I love. Brisbane has a bright future with this tower.
shaggers_jr June 18th, 2006, 05:56 AM Looks pretty good, but I don't like the spire. It is not needed on this building. The way it is shapped it is almost like a sharks fin.
Why is that a bad thing? I think a shark's fin must be one of the most beautiful designs in nature.
Rahmani June 20th, 2006, 01:26 PM Building looks beautyful
Salomon Smith Barney June 20th, 2006, 01:37 PM that is soooo nice!!!!!!
BMXican June 21st, 2006, 01:35 AM this is imo one of the sexiest towers in the world.
Bertez June 21st, 2006, 02:06 AM You know...this tower looks really tall....considering it in only 260 metres;););)
MG2 June 21st, 2006, 02:17 AM Oh look it's Q1 - only better ;)
SinCity June 21st, 2006, 04:52 AM Very, very nice  and yet here is Sydney we have to put up with buildings no greater than 235m ..... really make Sydney look pathetic IMO.
Well done Brissy! :)
brissieroy July 5th, 2006, 10:54 AM Oh look it's Q1 - only better ;)
LOL....so true...
broadie July 6th, 2006, 12:16 AM You dont know that becouse buildings dont allways look like there renders Q1 has a better design but vision has better cladding hopefully
SoulvisionQ1 July 6th, 2006, 03:47 AM ^^ I disagree! Q1's design looks more stiff and less relaxed...Vision looks like its relaxing, which is good cause I like it.
Orfeo July 6th, 2006, 04:20 AM ^
I'll agree that Q1 is more straight up-and-down, while Vision is curvy. Which I prefer is going to have to wait until I see the cladding....though hometown bias might rule anyway.
premier July 6th, 2006, 05:28 PM 10/10 when its gone be built.
Malt July 9th, 2006, 03:35 AM Now up to 265m/290m ..
for the record!
Brendan July 9th, 2006, 04:07 AM This is truly an amazing tower. Australia is very lucky to get it. And as someone said before, yes it does look a lot like a shark's fin, but that's a good thing.
We should just hope it doesn't get ruined like Q1 did IMO with the cladding.
Malt July 9th, 2006, 12:04 PM Its getting double glazing.. ie 2 layers of glass... So even if its pretty pale (even IF) then it will get canceled out due to the 2 layers
KJBrissy July 12th, 2006, 12:55 AM Now up to 265m/290m ..
for the record!
Almost...only waiting on the aviation authorities to approve the new height!
SoulvisionQ1 July 12th, 2006, 10:04 AM The aviation authorities should NOT have the power to decide whether it is approved or not! That is just stupid!
Malt July 12th, 2006, 10:12 AM well it is federal government airspace
even though it shouldnt be... Find me flight path maps from the BAC and lets see where one lines up with the CBD...
Thats not taking into account the distance the airport is from the city.
Macca-GC July 12th, 2006, 10:19 AM ^but even if there aren't any flight paths directly over the city, there is always the possibility that future flight paths from the parrallel runway will.
Colonel Cadillac August 16th, 2006, 06:25 AM Love the curved spire. Is this endanger of 'aviation cancellation'? Damn airports, how hard is it to not hit a building?
KJBrissy December 23rd, 2006, 09:51 AM Vision is APPROVED (http://www.ourbrisbane.com/psf/servlet/DAServlet/bcc/938170)

BrizzyChris December 24th, 2006, 04:13 PM The actual height is 259m to ROOF and 283m to SPIRE.
Muse December 24th, 2006, 10:25 PM Great news all-round for a great looking tower! Even if it turned out 1/2 as good as its renders, it'll still be a winner.
Brissy4me March 20th, 2007, 06:08 AM Construction is set to start in the next few weeks demolishing the carpark, then Earthmoving to be under way shortly after.
-Corey- March 20th, 2007, 06:16 AM Very Nice.
Jai March 20th, 2007, 07:18 AM Very nice! Not only is it graceful, but it fits beautifully with the skyline.

MDguy March 22nd, 2007, 12:48 AM I love this tower! amazing! It'll get a 10/10 from me at rate our talls when finished!
zerokarma March 23rd, 2007, 07:55 PM Looks good, I like it
CULWULLA March 24th, 2007, 12:20 PM in words from UAE- vision is so cute.
Ithaqua March 25th, 2007, 02:16 AM I like the sharks fin design very appropriate for Australia and very sexy. :)
Dale March 25th, 2007, 06:48 AM Back when I was in Brisbane, in 1992, Brisbane Central towered over the city. Now it looks quaint. ;)
KJBrissy March 28th, 2007, 07:46 AM The display centre has shut down and it has 'construction site - no entry' signs there. All the cars in the carpark also have leaflets on all of their windows saying that the carpark will be no longer open! Maybe start before the end of the week??
Lord_Bertrum March 28th, 2007, 11:54 PM This is certainly going to be a great project, one to watch in fact.
KJBrissy April 4th, 2007, 09:47 AM There was a digger on site today demolishing the garden beds.
Article from Austcorp:
Construction Starts on Vision - Brisbane's tallest tower (http://blueprint.austcorp.com.au/home.asp?pageid=1abe524721f42777)
Austcorp Group Limited has confirmed that a construction contract has been signed with Grocon to start work on the $900 million Vision project this month. The inital works include demolition of the Vision display suite and the carpark facility currently on site, followed by the excavation of the 7 level basement car park.
Austcorp Executive Chairman Trevor Chappell confirmed:
"We have sufficient pre-sales of apartments in place to confirm the strong acceptance of the project.
With strong interest expressed in the commercial, retail and car parking components of the building. Mr Chappell said "we are confident that this will lead to the sale of these components, in the near future".
The iconic 79-level building – Brisbane’s tallest tower – is being built by Australia’s leading privately owned construction group, Grocon who will move onto the Vision site this month. The project will be Grocon’s first in Brisbane.
To date Vision has secured 221 unconditional apartment sales of the tower’s total 401 apartments.
Rahmani April 4th, 2007, 10:05 AM This design looks amazing, specially within the area.
Ithaqua April 4th, 2007, 07:19 PM I love the interiors. Thanks.

Sentient Seas May 22nd, 2007, 10:19 PM I love this tower, one of the best projects Brisbane has to offer.
KJBrissy June 8th, 2007, 01:51 AM Article in local paper today saying that apartment sales have hit $200million with 248 of the 401 apartments now under contract. This includes buyers from Brisbane, Sydney and Hedges Avenue on the Gold Coast.

So, I guess there was nothing to the dire report of a few weeks ago which had the developer exaggerating the pre-sales.

Cristovão471 July 15th, 2007, 07:28 AM This would be considered under construction, right?
Citystyle July 15th, 2007, 08:58 AM Not really, Prep not UC. Once the Piling us underway then it's UC.
KJBrissy July 18th, 2007, 02:26 AM I would say it is U/C.
Site works are well underway and from what I have heard the digging has gotten a little deeper.
gappa August 10th, 2007, 01:08 AM This'll take a while with seven basement floors. Most exciting building under construction in Oz at the moment.

You're right. However I think Vision will take lead on its own. It has unparalleled curves and quite a unique spire. Top this with twin-layered reflective glass and I think Brisbane may have a timeless landmark.

ZZ-II April 5th, 2009, 08:16 PM still on hold, but i read some good news in the australia-section :).
skyperu34 April 6th, 2009, 06:15 PM Very nice design! Will look very nimense in its urban context ! That curve catches all attention !
Zollern April 7th, 2009, 02:22 AM still on hold, but i read some good news in the australia-section :). This tower's not going anywhere for a while. The developers had the idea that the Federal government could bail them out with money from that part of the economic stimulus package reserved for certain classes of property. Wishful thinking, but it won't happen. The government won't be propping up speculative residential (or commercial) developments. If they had enough pre-sales to make the project financially viable then a bank might lend them the money. Without confirmed pre-sales, nothing will happen.
Jesse24 August 9th, 2009, 03:00 AM You can find up to date information here in the Australian forum (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=457513&page=55) though it doesn't sound to good.
KJBrissy January 21st, 2010, 09:07 AM Thanks to MyFavco in the local forums:
Don't believe what you read in the papers......
Breaking News:
I have been told from a reliable source that Austcorp are close to finalising a deal to offload the site. They have absolutely no intention to build Vision.
KevD January 21st, 2010, 10:28 AM Cool building. It's boring though. Very typical of today's architecture. Tall however, which will improve the skyline.
