Kuching World's Healthiest City:banana:
KUCHING, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- Kuching is the healthiest city in the world this year.
The Sarawak state capital, on the northwestern tip of Borneo Island, won two international honours -- "Good Practices of Healthy Cities 2006" and "Pioneers in Healthy Cities 2006" -- awarded by the Alliance for Healthy Cities (AFHC) in Suzhou, China, on Oct 30.
"This is the second time Kuching was voted the world's healthiest city. We won it for the first time in 2002," Deputy State Secretary Datuk Morshidi Gani said at a press conference, here Monday.
Kuching hosted the first Asean Healthy Cities Conference in June 2002 and the AFHC General Assembly in October 2004.
It adopted the healthy city concept implemented in Brighton, England.

wangweijie84 April 19th, 2011, 05:43 AM i went to Kuching about 10 years ago, Kuching City is very clean city and has good skyline for under 500.000 pop. It is so impressive. Beside that, it has good city facilities and one tower to watch Kuching Skyline.
This city is too big for 400.000 pop, it needs growing its population become 1 million at least and will improve its own skyline.
Fortunately, after 10 years gone, Kuching skyline doesn't have any bigger impact to improve it, maybe because their population.
Does Kuching has any Big Transportation projects, like MRT/ Monorail/ BRT or etc?

Kuching currently has the population to sustain a BRT system, but not a Light Rapid Transit (LRT) or train system which needs a population of more than 1 million, hence, there is no monorail/MRT project planned for Kuching. BRT is expected to construct next year.
