As much as I enjoy that these Upscale stores will be coming to MPTC, I really don't like the location, it give's people the wrong idea of Greenville. I wish that they would go Midtown. What I mean by the wrong idea is people will most likely think we are getting these store's because of I-85 being right there, so they will think it's just a highway town which is bad. I would like them to go to Midtown, because to me Midtown has a very bright future, It already has a couple of Upscale store's like Coach, and some others that I dont know. Woodruff Road has what? Plus it is not going to be hot forever, Lauren's Road is supposed to be the next hot thing, and Haywood Road has never really seen a major decline so if I was a major retailer, or whatever I would be locating to Midtown.

Infoman
October 4th, 2008, 08:28 AM
Also Midtown is getting a Ruth Chris if you guy's remeber, and it has it has a good concentration of office, Midtown is between Uptown, and Downtown so it has the most postive location, and it already has a good retail base.

Bowden just announced that he is changing QBs. Last week, he said that the backup offered the team no advantage over the starter, and now all of a sudden the backup offers the team more flexibility. This is simply a pathetic attempt by Bowden to save his job.

Unfortunately for Bowden, a decision has supposedly already been made. Based on what I have heard, Bowden being gone is now a decision of when, not if. It could be as early as today or this weekend, and as late as the end of the season. But the powers that be are not happy and thankfully we should see a change.

Bowden Steps Down as Head Coach at Clemson

Swinney named interim head coach.

Oct. 13, 2008

Clemson, SC-

Clemson University and Head Football Coach Tommy Bowden parted ways on Monday. After two meetings on Monday morning between Bowden and Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips, it was agreed upon that Bowden would no longer be the Clemson Head Coach. He will be replaced by Assistant Head Coach Dabo Swinney (pronounced DA-boh SWEE-nee) on an interim basis.

"Terry Don Phillips approached me this morning and we agreed that this is the best solution for the direction of the program," said Bowden. "Clemson has been very good to me and my family. Both of our children are Clemson graduates.

"I appreciate the opportunity Clemson University gave me and the support of the administration while I was here. I also want to thank all the players and coaches who worked so hard for this program the last 10 years.

"I wish Clemson University nothing but the best in the future..."

Greenville
October 14th, 2008, 04:03 AM
This is a great move by Clemson. Bowden needed to be gone, although I am somewhat surprised Clemson pulled the trigger when they did. Dabo Swinney will be excellent as interim head coach. He has a fire and passion for the game that can't be taught. It will be interesting to see how the team performs. My prediction is that they will play hard despite the obstacles.

It's still Bob Ellis' land. People were parking there during Fall for Greenville, and I assume it will stay like it is for quite some time without the city interfering. The parcel is certainly not attractive, but it's not an eyesore like the Peacock site currently is.

The best realistic outcome at this point would be for Bob to sell the land to someone else so that they can do something with it. I am not optimistic that Bob will ever pull off the Pinnacle.

October 16th, 2008, 05:37 AM
That appears to be the 8 story edition, correct? So, only half of it would originally be built, with the possibility of another 4 stories added later?

It'd be nice if Saint Francis would sell their downtown Hospital's land and rebuild in the CBD. On Academy, near Heritage Green perhaps? If all of that land that the hospital currently occupies could be redeveloped with a masterplan and the density of Verdae/Pendleton West, then I think West Greenville and the DEEP West End's rebirth would be ensured. Ahh, what a pipe dream...

I believe that's the four story version GvilleSC. Why would they show a rendering of an eight story building if it's the four story version that's going to get built first? I'll try to find out tomorrow which version rendering it is. :)

That's the four story building GvilleSC.

I'm still getting 8. Look at how small the loading area's cover is... I'm getting 2 before the building steps back and rises... Who knows, we need a better image.

Polls are typically very subjective and should not be considered critically persuasive. Votes are all that matter at the end of a campaign period. Sarah Palin has more executive leadership experience (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fgl4gtEg50) than the perpetually-campaigning, relatively inexperienced, socialistically active Obama, and I would not hesitate to trust her judgement when serious issues are at stake since she has been proven to live according to her convictions, regardless of what the liberal and intolerant mainstream media regularly says or implies.

I suppose the Ron Paul reference was for me. I'm flattered.

I voted absentee on Friday, and neither McCain nor Obama got my vote. I think both are horrible candidates, each for various reasons. It really lowers my perception of the American public to have nominated these two. I thought Bush and Kerry were bad in '04, but these two might be worse.

It will be interesting to see how the election plays out, especially since polls are such small samples in comparison to the entire country. Nobody knows who will show up to vote, and who they will vote for. It certainly looks like Obama will win, though.

Obama is certainly at an advantage because the liberal media is on his side (and has been from the start). McCain has to overcome Bush's mistakes, as well as the media bias against him because he is Republican. His campaign (nor his candidacy) are capable of doing that. If the Republicans truly wanted to win, they would've made sure Romney got the nomination. Even Huckabee would've been more appealing to the general public than McCain.

In other news, I hope everyone will vote for Bob Conley over Lindsey Graham for senator. :)

So, you voted for a candidate who has no hopes of winning. Why? Seems like a waste of a vote to me.

Two main reasons:

1. I believe in voting for the candidate I most think would be the best President. If that is a third-party candidate (and it always is), so be it.

2. It helps make a statement that there is a growing group of Americans who are tiring of the two-party system and the ineffective principles which guide those two parties. Eventually, politicians (and the media) will have to take notice.

It's not a wasted vote, because it's MY vote. Isn't that my right?

Oh come on. First of all, this guy is in no way representative of all of the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The guy said when you call the Iraq war a mistake, you disrespect the service and sacrifice of all those who died. Sarah Palin has more executive leadership experience (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fgl4gtEg50) than the perpetually-campaigning, relatively inexperienced, socialistically active Obama

Funny that you would label Obama as "perpetually campaigning" when McCain has missed more votes than Obama recently. And Palin has more executive experience than John McCain also; does that mean she's more qualified than him? Executive experience in and of itself means nothing. Look at how much Bush had when he came into office.

I would not hesitate to trust her judgement when serious issues are at stake since she has been proven to live according to her convictions, regardless of what the liberal and intolerant mainstream media regularly says or implies.

You trust a person's judgment based on how closely they adhere to their convictions, but that doesn't mean say anything about the quality of judgment. Hitler lived according to his convictions, but his judgment was dead wrong. I know that's an extreme example, but it still demonstrates my point. Don't get me wrong, I also admire her for living according to her convictions and I like Palin as a person. My mom lives according to her convictions, but I don't exactly want her a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Krazee,
You did an awful lot of assuming based on one sentence. I never said any of those things you argued, nor do I necessarily disagree with you. Just take it at face value. And actually such an add would be right on par for TV, most of them only have a sliver of "truth" anyway. :okay:

Like Bill Maher said, it's too bad that we only experience the downsides of socialism in this country and not the upsides.

Capitalism can't work without a little bit of socialism sprinkled in. Both carried to their extremes would be utterly disastrous.

Hey g-man, once you get some more voting years under your belt you will realize that the federal government is going to waste tons of money regardless of who is in office. That is what they do. It's been that way with education, the Iraq war, the war on drugs, and everything else they have undertaken. It will be the same way with health care and the financial industry. By Constitutionalists, I assume you are referring to those who strictly adhere to what the Constitution outlines as our federal government's powers and responsibilities. That would include Libertarians, many in the Constitution Party, and politicians like Ron Paul (and locally, Bob Conley running against Lindsey Graham for US Senate). They don't think that there should be any distinction made between straight marriages and gay marriages. In other words, everyone should have the same benefits regardless of whether they are in a gay or straight couple. I think their ideal would be for the government to stay out of marriage entirely. The Constitution doesn't say much about marriage.

Greenville is off the list: http://www.wyff4.com/news/17982893/detail.html

Little League Baseball obviously decided to put their headquarters in a small town, rather than a growing metropolitan area. That's their right, but I can't imagine having enough hotels and attractions in a small place like Morganton, NC or Warner Robins, GA. Perhaps they are going for the old timey baseball field when it was played in rural locations during a simpler time.

WYFF said they didn't choose Greenville because they wanted a new stadium not a renovated one. Talk about snobby. :ohno:

So evidently a new stadium in BFE trumps a renovated stadium in a great city like Greenville. Go figure!

200 new jobs coming to the area: http://www.greenvilleonline.com/article/20081118/BUSINESS/81118043&referrer=FRONTPAGECAROUSEL WYFF also reports several companies will be expanding in Anderson County adding 125 new jobs. Just imagine what it will be like here when the economy rebounds and all of these expansions go through. :uh: Talk about jobs being created left and right.

Funny how opinions are so different. I feel like this is something that finally has some charachter to it. Everything else is just starting to look the same.

This development doesn't look like any other that I've seen, true, (and thankfully so), but everything inside the development look exactly the same. A few changes in color and maybe the addition of a steep roof on a few... I still can't get over it...
