Some area news that isn't in downtown Greenville:

-Due to large growth this year both in passenger and cargo traffic, the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport Commission has decided to move forward and approve the schematic design for the $102.3 million terminal expansion/renovation project. Wow...been a while since I have covered suburban news. Guess i'll get started with Easley Town Center which is being built just west of Greenville in the suburb of Easley. These new future tenants were revealed earlier today:

B-Marshalls (25,000 square feet)
C-Petsmart (14,033 square feet)
D-VIP Nails and Sally Beauty (4,500 and 1,500 square feet)
G-Academy Sports (61,761 square feet)
I-Rue 21 and Dots (4,500 and 4,000 square feet)
K-Shoe Carnival (8,500 square feet)
O-Sam's Club with gas station (136,086 square feet)
**-Tractor Supply Company to the right of Sam's Club and not shown on site plan below (19,097 square feet for building and 15,000 square feet for outdoor fenced area)

The letters next to the tenants correspond with letters on new site plan posted below. Construction bids slated to go out on all tenants listed above this month.

Construction equipment started arriving on site today for Easley Town Center. Construction also started on this week on a new apartment complex within Verdae and another one just across Interstate 85 that will be an expansion of the Verandas at the Point.

Home sales continue to rise while inventory continues to drop:

Existing home sales in Greater Greenville rose for the fourth consecutive month in February.

Sales were up 12.3 percent from a year ago in this region, which includes Pickens and Laurens counties, according to statistics from the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors.

The association’s monthly report also showed a 15.5 percent increase in year-to-date sales and a drop in inventory by 14.4 percent.

The year to date sales volume was up 21 percent, which reflects the average price climbing 4.8 percent, with the median price up 7.7 percent.

Buyers purchased 447 residences in February, compared to the 398 sold in February 2011, the report says.
