I was surprised to see Chicago above Los Angeles. Of course if you count metro's LA's total would be much much higher but I dont have the time or the will to go through all those LA cities and add up the numbers.
No suprise Metro Miami has 5 of the top 9 (and 10 of the top 23) and 101 overall, almost as much as any other state.

Chicago just might be the most balanced population in the United States with well over a million African Americans. And the same number goes for caucasians. Chicago also has 800,000 hispanic citizens.

To put that into context, Chicago's hispanic population is double the city of Miami's entire population!

The city of Miami's population is deceptive. The Miami metro area has well over double the hispanic population of Chicago.

Los Angeles County's black population has fallen below 1 Million-however, LA's Metro still has 1.2 Million Blacks. This is as of 2004 according to The California State Department of Finance that tracks this sort of data for Governor Schwarzenagger.

lol. i remember because of a thread in the southeast forum. Somebody posted the brookings study from 2000-2004 and I seen that LA's black population fell under a million. There are alot of people from both the Bay Area and LA living in Texas. That's part of the reason Houston's and Dallas's black population is growing now.

San Diego passed 3 million? :eek2:

True the entire metro of Miami does not have a majority. Here are the numbers from 2000 (I'm guess blacks have probably gone up to 1,000,000 and hispanics are probably well above 2,000,000 by now):

White: 2,206,412 (44.1%)
Hispanic: 1,702,487 (34%)
Black: 946,255 (18.9%)

Brookings is correct if they are tracking The old PMSA, which is just LA County. But if you look at the CSA, which IMO is a more accurate gage, then LA still has 1 million+ blacks.

not to hijack this thread-and my apologies to the thread starter-but it frightens me to see the black population dwindle so much in California-its just not healthy.

And I know lots of blacks from the bay area who now living in Houston. First of all, its next to impossible to find a house in Oakland under $300,000 meanwhile Houston has several thousand homes under $200,000-that temptation is more then many can bear to resist-plus, Houston is genuinely a diverse city to begin(large hispanic and asian populations plus a large existing black population) with so its not surprising that people here feel at home there, at least in the sense of being surrounded by people of other races and ethnicities.

too bad your politics suck-no more Bushes please! LOL

lol We'll try.

But yeah. I think it goes back to cost of living. Most in Texas that relocated from the Bay Area has said that the cost of living was one of hte main reason they moved out to Houston.

Dave, yeah, Miami-FLD-Miami Beach officially passed 1 million in 04. I can find the link somewhere.

You know Latin America is not the only hispanic-population place...Spain is hispanic as well and some people consider Portugal to be as well...Because they attend the Hispanic country meetings just like Brazil...And also Hispanics are not a race...It is simply just an American invention to separate themselves from the Spanish-Speaking people...Like for example me I am white I don't think I'm black so what does that mean? That Hispanic is a color now? I want to see that color...Haven't you all realized that is the reason why in ethnicity forms it says Whites/Non-Hispanics?I mean I don't understand why a hazel eyed almost pale dark browned curly haired boy is not White but is a race called HIspanic in which I first heard of when I moved back to the US 2 years ago...And also If you all are going to talk about Black population then state wise Georgia has more blacks than any other state in the country besides NY and Atlanta has a larger black population than any other Major city in the country from what I have researched...28.7% of Georgia is black and there are 9.1 million in the state...So that makes it 2.6 million blacks...And in Atlanta there is more than half of the black population...So in black population I would say definitely that Georgia is #1...In white population not even close...Georgia is only 62.6% white and 5.6% Hispanic and 2.1% Asian so there is not that much diversity besides Black-White population...So all I know is that in terms of Black population Georgia and Atlanta beat every other state and city maybe besides NY Atlanta is 33.3% black..Makes up almost 1.8 million blacks..Only NYC beats Atlanta...But it is funny than in NY they have 3 million blacks and in Georgia they have 2.6 million and the Georgia population hasn't even reached 10 million yet when NY is about to reach 20 million...For me New York City Miami, and Los Angeles have the most diverse population in the nation...In NYC 35.9% of the population was foreign born..That shows a lot of diversity...Only Los Angeles and Miami beats NYC so I don't think Houston has a competition here....Houston people I know Houston is diverse but it is not even close ot NYC,LA and Miami....

Miami,Los Angeles are the Hispanic capital of the country....Miami Metro Area has 5.4 million people...So Chicago has 10 million Hispanics....So what is Chicago's population?25 million? Miami has 3.6 million Hispanics...65.76% of the population out of the 5.4 million are Hispanics...Miami has almost 4.5 times more Hispanic population than Chicago...Kind of funny your joke though...

I resent the term "nationality" more then I do "ethnicity"-when people ask me what nationality I am, it makes me feel as if Im not an American by virtue of me not being white. I consider myself a national of the United States because this is where I was born and raised. Once a guy I met on a plane from Anchorage to Seattle asked me if I was dating anyone and I said yes, and he said "Is he Tongan like you or American?".....totally turned me off :runaway:

Anyway, Chicagoland's diverse and prosperous Hispanic cummunity, is exploding with the 4th largest Hispanic population in the country. Some estimates put the Hispanic population in the city of Chicago alone at 1 million by 2010, and over 2 million in the metropolitan area.
