Reflecting King Faisal Foundation's strong commitment to learning, and building on the success of it previous academic endeavors, King Faisal Foundation established Alfaisal University in 2001. The University will accept the first students in September 2007.

The campus is situated on the beautiful grounds of the late King Faisal's palace. The serene surroundings in the centre of Riyadh make the historical location an ideal choice for academic pursuits.

The AU curriculum focuses on science, business, and technology. Programs are based on those established by the American Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET), the US's primary accrediting board for engineering. As part of the undergraduate and graduate courses, students gain valuable work experience through the school's internship programs.

Under the umbrella of AU come Abha city's Prince Sultan College for Tourism and Business and Jeddah city's Effat National College for Women

3. The Faculty of Engineering.

4. The Faculty of Medicine.

Modern buildings will be constructed in a circular form with the King Faisal Palace centered in the middle. The historical Palace will be the University's headquarters for operations that include administration and admission services. The Palace would also host the King Faisal Memorial Hall

Start of Academic Operations:

September 2007 would be the first academic year of operation of Alfaisal University. The university, which targets to have a capacity of 4,000 students, would initially accommodate around 200 students who would follow courses in science and technology.

WOW

AMAZING STUFF,

I love how they are using King Faisal's Palace as an Admin building. This campus will have quite a bit of history with the palace in the center.

Saudi needs more of this and less of money being invested in Nasdaq and NYSE.

Saudi's need to build modern Universities and they need to invest in the future of their education.

this campus is pretty modern, especially the "rocketship" mosture. Their seems to be a percieved notion that arab universities are generally of poor quality, anybody care to explain why?

This is more than amazing. It's cool the way Saudi Arabia is trying to strengthen their academics and I think this will be an amazing opportunity for foreigners (especially GCC students) to go and study over there. I also think that the university should have a sister university from USA with the requirement that the university is nothing short of elite (Harvard Univ, Stanford Univ, MIT).

On another note, the render of the mosque looks AMAZING. I like the way they encompassed Islamic values in the modern style.

One last thing, I hope the university in addition to the modernity of the campus try to mix a lot of history into it. This will reinforce the idea that the Saudi society is one in which modernity and tradition are inter-twined.

i agree....
however i don't know how successful they would be at tempting big-name american universities to link up with them..
harvard, mit, cornell, etc have great reputations all over the world and they won't risk their reputations easily..

also....i think qatar has done extremely well to lure some of these top universities to doha.......saudi should've tried to do that too...but with the place being so strict...with limited freedoms for the students and for the american universities to have things their way....i don't see the incentive...
