Une barrière qui, se je ne m'abuse, séparait autrefois les villes de Buda et Pest. Une barrière naturelle entretenue pendant des siècles. C'est dommage qu'un projet de reconquête comme celui-ci n'ai pas vu le jour.

oui au XIXe les deux villes ont été reliées par plusieurs ponts :

le bâtiment d'origine est un très bel exemple d'architecture du début du siècle... c'est un grand magasin, "le grand magasin parisien", un des plus luxueux de Andrassy.

une autre rénovation pour un autre grand magasin ( a priori...) par le français Christian Biecher...(qui fera fasse à l'immeuble de Viguier...toujours pas construit du reste... y'a juste l'échantillon de façade)

A touch of superstar-arhitecture in Budapest

Though a few years ago, ING has attempted to connect its housing investments with the names of star-architects, but none was inclined to follow his example until the recent appearance of Orco Property Group.

While ING has achieved considerable success with its headquarters on Andrássy Street – the main façade of which was reconstructed to its eclectic glory, while the back was turned into a glass-wall slanting at a reverse angle – and its second, more radical office-building with its waving silver facade, built by Eric van Egeraat, it could not hold on for long against the strength of Hungarian architects’ lobby. The complete metamorphosis of the old socialist office building into a modern office building stuck under a glass jar, on Vörösmarty Square was announced under the name of French architect Jean Paul Viguier, but he was soon replaced by György Fazakas, the Hungarian architect responsible for the huge, stocky office-blocks next to Árpád-bridge. In the search for the designer of the latest ING-project in Buda, only Hungarian architects came into account – eventually the task went to József Finta, the designer of the original building that was to be replaced on the site.

While time after time, rumours tend to spread about star-architects about to sign a contract – Daniel Libeskind’s name was whispered in connection with the reconstruction of Kazinczy street synagogue - their actual employment did not become a practice. But this practice seems to be one of the conditions of success, as it is proved by Frank O. Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum, that managed to put an insignificant town, Bilbao on the cultural world map.

The example of Bilbao - which was successfully repeated a number of times - proves that star-culture and iconic architecture is legitimate – of course not the arbitrary signification, but a coherent concept for the city, that is served by a piece of unusual architecture. Ginger and Fred, the house by Gehry in Prague is good example for the birth of an icon – a piece of deconstructed architecture, without a tendency to destroy the coherent image of the baroque town.

With its aggressive entrée, Orco Property Group might break the barrier that kept the stars in front of the doors until now. They did not hesitate to invite Her Majesty, the Grand Lady of Decon, Zaha Hadid, whose extraordinary concrete shapes are the hottest articles in the eyes of property-investors and city-marketers. She was asked to think of a replacement for the socialist-times parking-building on Szervita Square. Though her different versions of a fragmented crystal form, did not win the hearts of those sitting in the jury, we can finally say, that Zaha Hadid made a sketch for Budapest, too. And this is not an insignificant fact. In addition, they invited Hani Rashid, the greatest composer of virtual worlds, who designed a twisted periscope for the northern-Pest Danube shore.

Raiffeisen Bank Hungary plans HUF 20-28 bln office tower, tallest in Hungary

BUDAPEST. OCTOBER 24. INTERFAX CENTRAL EUROPE - Raiffeisen Bank Hungary,

The Hungarian unit of the Austrian banking group, plans to create a new
landmark in the capital of Budapest by building an office tower that
would be the tallest building in Hungary, serving as the bank's new
headquarters, bank officials announced Tuesday.

"Raiffeisen has been present in Hungary for over 20 years, and the
continued growth of the bank has led us to seek new office space," said
Peter Felcsuti, the CEO of the Hungarian bank. "We decided that the most
efficient option was to build our own office tower."

The project, which is estimated to cost between HUF 20-28 bln, will be
carried out by the group's real estate arm Raiffeisen Ingatlan Zrt, with
construction to begin in January 2007 and completion planned for January
2009.

The building complex, which will also include a smaller tower, a guest
house, a commercial passageway and a parking garage, will contain 70,000
square meters of usable space. Raiffeisen Bank is to be the sole
inhabitant of the big tower, while the smaller building will be leased
to other companies by Raiffeisen Ingatlan.

"The number of employees at our bank is planned to rise to 3,700 by
2009, of which 1,500 would work in the new office center. Our branch
network should also reach 200 by that time, compared to the current
100," said Felcsuti.

The project would be the biggest to date for Raiffeisen Ingatlan, which,
together with its real estate fund, currently manages a property
portfolio of HUF 180 bln.

Ferenc Molnar, the CEO of Raiffeisen Ingatlan, said that the tallest
building of the complex is planned to reach 110 meters, which would make
it the tallest building in Hungary - topping the Basilica in Esztergom,
which stands at 100 meters - and would be the same height as the Citadel
in Budapest.

"We plan to open the top two levels of the 32-story building to the
public, creating an instant tourist attraction and a new landmark for
Hungary," he said.

However, the realization of these ambitious plans will need an amendment
to the current building statutes of Budapest, which limit the height of
new buildings at 55m, although the area selected by Raiffeisen has a
special permit to go as high as 76m.

The city's former chief architect was a staunch opponent of high-rises, and resisted calls for a review of the regulations, but he is no longer in position, and a new chief architect is expected to be more receptive to such plans, with reportedly several developers standing in line with similar projects planned for the capital.

However, Molnar said the construction will go ahead no matter what, with
the eventual height of the tower to be determined as it goes along.
"We will start construction in January, and we will see - if we receive
the permit, the tower will be 110 meters tall, if not, then we will stop
at 76 meters."

Felcsuti said that once the building is completed Raiffeisen will vacate
its current premises in the capital, and workers who are now spread out
across several sites will be brought on to one site in the new tower.

Le projet d'extension de l'hôtel NY comme celui du centre culturel sont sérieux.

Pour ceux que ça interesse, une reflexion semble s'ouvrir sur le devenir des terrains derrières la gare de l'ouest (Nyugati Palyaudvar) (réalisée par Eiffel du reste), la couverture des voies comme le réaménagement de la gare semblent envisagés.

Nous suivons depuis maintenant quelques années, avec beaucoup de tristesse, de stupéfaction et parfois de colère, ce qui se passe dans le quartier juif de Budapest. Ce que la guerre, le nazisme et le stalinisme n'ont pas réussi à détruire est en train de disparaître sous nos yeux. Il s'agit de pans entiers de l'architecture et de l'urbanisme du XIXe siècle et du début du XXe qui partent en poussière. Selon l'association hongroise Óvás !, à ce jour, 40 % des édifices du XIXe siècle, de style néoclassique et Art nouveau, ont été rasés ou transformés en constructions qui nuisent au caractère du quartier. C'est tout un tissu urbain, architectural, historique, social, culturel, cultuel et humain, ayant valeur de patrimoine mondial, qui est ainsi dénaturé, abattu, perdu à tout jamais. Comment admettre que le dernier vestige du mur du ghetto de Budapest ait été détruit, ses pierres vendues dans une frénésie de démolition spéculative ?

L'immeuble de Zaha serait selon le forumer Kontúr approuvé et la livraison serait prévue pour 2010.

Le Grand Magasin CORVIN pourrait être reconstruit à l'identique enfin presque. Les cocos avaient remplacés les ruines de l'ancien bâtiment par un immondice...

L'extension du musée des Beaux Arts. Tamás Karácsony a été choisi pour son projet d'aménagement des sous-sols et création d'un cube en verre et métal...
un petit grand louvre sur la place des Héros. En tout cas le projet fait débat et il n'a pas l'air d'être apprécié...

Pour les amateurs de statistiques : C'est le 43e musée du monde entre le Guggenheim de NY et le Musée Rodin. Le musée a organisé en 2007 la quatrième exposition la plus visitée au monde dans la catégorie "Impressionistes et modernité" :banana::banana::banana::banana:
