Gatis June 5th, 2006, 08:51 AM Cool! 450 000 cars for city like Baku still is nothing - so - prepare for much more traffic jams even with all these new roads.
I notice that there is even one three level crossing.

As i know there are about 750 000 cars in Azerbaijan. Each year the amount of cars is incresing from 70-100 thounsands, so we will rise to 1 million in 2-3 years, and if we think that more than a half of them are in Baku, then Baku will have very serious problems with jams in the future. As a driver i know that it is very difficult to drive in Baku today, and a big problems with parking, i hope they will try to do anything to solve this problem.
News from auto life of Azerbaijan:
A contract for exports of 530 diesel-powered buses to Azerbaijan was signed in Baku Saturday, Iran-Khodro's public relations department reported.
According to IRNA, the contract which is valued at $25 million was signed during the visit of Iran's high-ranking industrial and trade delegation to the country.
Managing Director of Iran-Khodro Diesel Company Majid Sheykhani said the buses are designed both for short and long-hauls.
He said that following the exports of the buses, a feasibility project for construction of a bus assembly line in Azerbaijan will start.
He further expressed optimism that the project will be commissioned by the end of the year (March 21, 2006).
He said the production capacity of the plant will be about 1,000 buses annually.

Of course it is a lot for the city like Baku with population 2 mln. in city(3 mln. in metro area).
Gatis June 7th, 2006, 12:55 PM It is not that much.
We in Latvia still are comparatively poor - but Latvia in total (2,3 mio people) has got 1 mio registered cars. Riga City (0,7 mio) has got 320 000, Riga metro (1 mio people) - 470 000 cars.
Thus - prepare to have some 750 000 cars in Baku and 1,2 mio in Baku metro area in near future - if all goes well. And "all will go well". :)
Gatis June 7th, 2006, 12:56 PM What is area of Baku - how dense is city?

Baku metro area is 2130 squire km. It is a big territory. As for the city Baku, it is some 500 000 squire km.
1 mln. cars for a country like Latvia with 2,3 mln. ppopulation is a super! It is almost the level of the most developed countries where 2 cars for 1 person. I think we are far away from this level for today, but 1 mln. in 2-3 years that is for sure!
Galandar March 24th, 2008, 05:11 AM There are 5 already finished bridges, 1 already finished tonnel and 6 already finished over- and underground transitions as for the January 1-st 2008.
