bangkok's ranks higher than Manila's???

crap!

I've been to bangkok but it was just another ordinary city in asia. although skyscrapers abound, they're scattered and somewhat did not create a nice landscape. Metro Manila (MM) has Makati and Pasig where skyscrapers are placed interestingly to create an awesome skyline. just my two cents worth.

I think this ranking is not in terms of how impressive the skyline is, but ranks by number of 90+m highrises.

2006 we still got number 6 in the world!!

What's a surprise..( 3 years consecutively OMG..)

But this year...the new projects will not be finished as many as next year..

So I hope next year (2007 ) Bangkok still can be in the rank 6-7 or 8 ...

But if we have those supertall projects complete...who know we may got better rank ....may be number 5 in the world..

Haha

btw...yeah Manila's skyline is very impressive to me..
but somewhat a littlebit inferior than Bangkok..

Bangkok's skyline is very spreadout..but in the sametime it has a load of buildings also..
If someone want to have a whole view of Bangkok ( or atleast ...can see as many buildings as posible ) he should be in some particular areas..

Such as the top of Baiyoke ll ...
or ...at Sirirach Hospital area...
or .... top of United Center building..
etc.

Around the northern and eastern borders of Makati City curl the serpentine length of the Pasig River, which separates the premier urbanscape from the adjacent cities of Pasig and Mandaluyong and the municipality of Pateros. Fort Bonifacio and its crowded barangays sprawl along the eastern fringes. Due west is Pasay City, joined at various points to Makati's major arteries via the South Superhighway, Gil Puyat and Taft Avenues. Across Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) from the Ayala Center are the posh villages of Forbes Park and Dasmariñas. The trend spills over Makati's boundaries all the way down the South Superhighway towards the newer subdivisions of Magallanes and Merville Park in Parañaque, and Ayala Alabang in Muntinlupa. Villamor Air Base, skirting the highway due southwest, is the headquarters of the Philippine Air Force. The city occupies a total land area of 29.9 sq. kilometers.

Makati City - Wall Street Of The Philippines

Urban lifestyle and affluence are nowhere more pronounced in the Philippines than in Makati, the country’s classiest city. Bustling and modern, it is the country’s model for city planning, rising in less than a decade from vast stretches of empty land to become the nation’s premier city.

This affluent city southwest of Manila is the country’s financial center, earning it the nickname, “Wall Street of the Philippines.” The major banks, corporations, department stores as well as embassies of the different nations are based here. Situated along Ayala Avenue is the Makati Stock Exchange, which houses the trading of stock. Fully developed, well-reputed city villages provide the perfect address for office buildings, shops, and restaurants.

Right in the heart of bustling Makati, spread along Ayala Avenue, is Ayala Center, the country’s business and financial center. Encompassing the Glorietta and Greenbelt shopping malls, among others, Ayala Center is also a commercial complex completely at par with the world’s most modern business cosmos. Within it is the Ayala Museum, among the city’s primary repositories of history, culture, and heritage, along with the Filipinas Heritage Library and Museo ng Makati.

Makati has the highest concentration of the country’s finest department stores, fashion boutiques, exclusive jewelry shops and antique stores, shoe stores, bookstores, and most other commercial establishments. In identified portions, the city contains the most exclusive residential subdivisions, including Forbes Park, where many of the country’s wealthy and powerful families make their homes. Five-star hotels and restaurants further provide the ultimate avenue for a life of comfort and relaxation.

Population

The total population was 4,176 as of the 1995 census.

Political Subdivision

The city consists of three Barangays, which are subdivided into two Congressional Districts. It has been classified as a Highly Urbanized City.

Well.. Espma, I think I get the point of what you're trying to say, although remember one thing that every other forummers from any nations are welcome here, as long as they follow the forum's rules and regulartions strictly. Of course by being nice, considerate and polite would make everyone of us here welcomed in every other threads as well. So, let him stay here for a while as he wishes. I can garantee you that no one here would hurt his feelings. He's safe here.

Btw, I can't help thinking why "capsluv" posting those Manila photos. Of course, personally i must admit that those are real nice and impressive photos. They're beautiful, probably that's the reason why he posted those, because he's proud of his city/country. This is a good thing.
Another good thing is that he is kind enough to share some of them with us without pointing or bringing it up to a compatition.
Personally, I don't want to see such VS thread again. At first, when I saw someone posted that thread of Siam Paragon VS MOA, I thought it was a very bad idea.
I agree with Khun ZOOWATCH when he suggested that the moderators of both the Thai and the Philippines forums should do something regarding this matter. Such a compatition-VS-suggestive thread should be locked at first.

truth be told, I have nothing against Bangkok its a very very beautiful city and I do plan to go there, maybe next year from Manila (coz its gonna be cheaper from Manila than from Sydney hahaha)....I also have a thing for Thai food.

It did get nasty..but thats because I always speak my mind..

Im sure everyone is welcome here, just like how everyone is welcome in the Philippines thread, I just thought it would be wise not to "provoke" any of you....since this is indeed your "turf"...one already used the word "inferior".

Its all good :D

Metro KL map

http://www.geocities.com/pedangpemusnah/klang_valley.gif

METRO KL AREA = ( KL + PETALING JAYA + SUBANG + S.ALAM + KLANG + AMPANG + SERDANG + PUCHONG + GOMBAK + KAJANG + PUTRAJAYA + DAMANSARA )

METRO POPULATION = 5 M
KL POLULATION = 1.5 M

metro area : 1000+ sq km
KL area : only 200 sq km

if cover the whole metro area, num of buildings > 90 actually over than 202, i suspect it's more than twice.Becoz KL's metro area got many highrise/town/suburn clusters.

Take it easy everyone. I know everyone love your city or country. But this is not a
place to discuss who is better , who is inferior. The skyline statistics showed in this
thread may not exactly accurate. But who cares ? Just mind your own business.
The city vs city thread was closed because some people like to use it as a place to
quarrel. So please stop this behavior. I'm not happy to see it.
P.S.As Chemon said everyone is welcome here. We not seperated any nationalities ,
Religions , Believes. But as long as you don't do anything against the rules.

I think this ranking is not in terms of how impressive the skyline is, but ranks by number of 90+m highrises.

Actually i think that would be unfair to rank a skyline..i think kuala lumpur has a nicer skyline than bangkok, no offence though. Bangkok skyline is also impressive.

Mosaic
June 24th, 2006, 07:47 AM

This contest is cleary based on the number of highrise above 90 meters..

So ..I think we cannot neither say that it is only about "quantity" nor "quality"..but relatively both of them.

Because the cities which have many highrises above 90 meters...tend to have a "wow effect" (An effect mentioned from this website..) .

And yes..You can say that Kualalumpur's skyline is better than Bangkok..
That's your judgement..
Although I still have my own.
