Pretty tall for a tower built in the 1800's! RafflesCity April 20th, 2003, 05:22 PM 8.5/10 Shows that a simple column can be very powerful! Chad April 20th, 2003, 06:14 PM Looks better in person. Pretty tall for a tower built in the 1800's! !!!!!!!!OMG!! I thought It's from EGYPT!!! :omg: :? :? SteelCity32 April 20th, 2003, 07:32 PM it's bland, but an american historic site. 8/10 renell April 20th, 2003, 08:29 PM it's quite tall considering it's from the 1800's.. 7 X-seed 4000 April 20th, 2003, 11:14 PM Not bad. 7.5/10 Hacksaw April 21st, 2003, 12:59 PM Never been too fond of this. But still, it was built in the 19th century and is pretty tall... a 7. pong April 22nd, 2003, 05:38 AM 7/10. Pretty tall for a monument. BGT May 3rd, 2003, 09:32 PM 9/10 I went to the top over Spring Break. I don't really care for the dirt mound type thing going on now... The tallest monument America has, for its first President. That seems fitting enough to me. 9.0/10 New Jack City May 5th, 2003, 11:06 PM 9/10..One of, if not the best monument ever. It's tall, I like the color, and interesting shape. It always seems to be peaking out above DC all the time, and looks damn good doing it. Mr. Detroit May 6th, 2003, 12:38 AM I am looking at those pictures from the top of the Washington Monument and I am thinking, "Do I even comprehend the importance if the buildings in that picture?" On the building though.....7/10 - Bland, but tall The Messiah May 22nd, 2003, 03:10 PM 8.5/10 This monument rules! ;) dcb11 May 27th, 2003, 08:30 AM The reason this monument is shaped like an Egyption obelisk is because George Washington was a freemason. Look it up for more information. Its an interesting story. There's a masonic memorial to G.W. in Viriginia, right across the Potomac. It's impressive. De Snor June 9th, 2003, 09:33 PM Strange , all pics are gone :( Fabio November 9th, 2003, 04:26 AM 8/10 nice setting james2390 December 18th, 2003, 04:47 AM i have been in it, it has an awesome view. DamienK December 25th, 2004, 10:04 PM 10/10 gothicform December 26th, 2004, 05:40 AM whats so great about this? apart from its size there is nothing to mark it out as being better than ancient needles all around the world. GuilhermeC December 26th, 2004, 06:08 AM It's not a copy, it's not original - but several cities have copied Washington after it was built. For it's height I give it a 4. It's ugly hauntedheadnc December 28th, 2004, 06:12 AM Plain, but iconic and a nice addition to the skyline. I give it an 8. Henk June 8th, 2005, 11:50 PM 6/10. Valia June 9th, 2005, 12:55 AM 6/10 seem to me a bad copy> paste of the ancient egypt momuments Ellatur June 9th, 2005, 04:06 AM 9/10 forvine December 15th, 2005, 12:01 PM 8.5/10 Phobos December 15th, 2005, 09:18 PM 7/10 SUNNY December 16th, 2005, 04:36 PM 7/10 Sinjin P. December 23rd, 2005, 12:25 PM With due respect, I'm giving it a 7.5/10 but I could have given it a 5. It's simply just a typical bland tower. ;) Mosaic June 5th, 2006, 09:22 AM 7/10 delmaule November 12th, 2006, 12:33 AM 9/10 gutooo November 17th, 2006, 08:43 PM 8/10 marpa June 7th, 2007, 06:25 PM 7,5/10 LSyd December 16th, 2007, 05:34 PM 10. built without steel support; it's freestanding masonry that was built over 60 years thanks to donations; the construction was halted by the u.s. civil war and then finished (you can see the difference in the stone colors.) i think it would've looked better with a base, like in the original designs. IMO, the simple design fits being in the middle of more elaborate structures (white house, congress, lincoln memorial, and the other nearby gothic and neo-classical buildings.) a lot of detail work is on the inside with the donative stones. the park rangers said that some nights, there are special walking tours down the inside when you can see more of the interior details. http://www.pbase.com/lsyd/image/90332182/original.jpg - MDguy December 22nd, 2007, 07:47 PM ^ lol, there's a replica of the original Washington Monument (located in Bmore) inside the Washington Monument (DC) Its sort of bland, yet pretty in a way http://farm1.static.flickr.com/61/223436682_1ab8beb538_o.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/46/149782423_561be4cc51_b.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/61/207224559_1fdd46ff0d_b.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/163/362880095_2c7f4ec475_o.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/213/484316047_506855826d_o.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/78/176127509_0e856d2c02_b.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/42/157082380_acedfaa011_b.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1255/727057932_eb06e9ff84_b.jpg TU 'cane December 28th, 2007, 11:47 AM 8/10 Audiomuse December 30th, 2007, 12:47 AM 9/10 LMCA1990 January 31st, 2008, 04:41 PM 8/10 roen February 18th, 2008, 03:22 PM 8/10 Astralis June 19th, 2008, 11:14 PM 8/10 W!CKED July 22nd, 2008, 03:34 AM 7/10 henry hill March 12th, 2009, 01:09 AM Icon, symbol, but only 8/10. tonyssa May 26th, 2009, 12:51 AM 8.5/10 Nikkodemo June 11th, 2009, 05:21 AM 8/10 Jan Del Castillo October 8th, 2009, 02:21 AM 9.
