A very nice arena, but i don't think Copenhagen shuld need a big arena like that :runaway:
But i don't know so mutch about the sports in Denmark. Is they need it for Hockey or Handball?
Hviid June 12th, 2006, 03:36 AM Hockey is growing pretty fast in Denmark, so maybe there is a need for it...
Handball? I know womens handball is especially very popular.. but i have no idea how popular in terms of audience...
Anyway, it looks cool.. we haven't heard much from it in a long time though.. who knows if it will ever get built..
Köbtke June 12th, 2006, 02:10 PM Well, Handball is the second biggest sport in Denmark (if I'm not completely mistaking) and the big matches draw large crowds.
Ice Hockey is growing, and I definatly see potential for quite large audiences for hockey games.
I really think we do need a big (Globen-sized at least) arena in Copenhagen. We are really missing facilities between the sizes of Forum, KB Hallen etc. and Parken.
An arena like this could and probably would be used for much more than just Handball or Ice Hockey. I'm thinking concerts, conferences etec. etc.

That is true. Handball is big and as you mention, it could be used for many other things. However, as I have mentioned elsewhere, this is a bad idea. Located 25-30 minutes from the citycenter, it may be ideal for sports, but not for what is likely to be the backbone of the income, concerts and congresses...They are also talking about cinemas and hotels and a indoor ski hill. All great, but in a wrong location.
I doubt very much it will be build, thay have had problems from tha start finding tennents and the project had been postponed several times. Even the chairman of Brøndby, who was to run it, has said that he doubts it will ever be build. It was origianly to be completet now i believe, and the last we heard officially was a constructionstart in august....2005....
Lets insted hope they will be a multiarena out in ørestaden, as bella centeret has plans for. They were supose to announce their plans in May, but I guess they need investors or something. That hall would be much better located...
Jarmo K June 12th, 2006, 08:22 PM what a good-looking arena!
stockholm_city June 13th, 2006, 02:01 AM Yes:) It is a nice arena. But do they realy need a arena whitch is as big as that?:S

When we are talking about rock concerts, 15.000 is little. Madonna will skip out Sweden on the coming tour because Ullevi in Göteborg is only a 55.000 capacity stadium. Too little! When it comes to indoor arenas they always tend to be pretty small in Europe, seldom over 15.000. In U.S it's different, their arenas takes almost 20.000 which makes it more interesting for artists to go on indoor tours.
cphdude October 21st, 2006, 10:55 PM The company London & Copenhagen Lesure has been declared bankrupt, and the Arena is almost deffinetly cancelled...Bothe major and Brøndby agrees that the project is dead...
Malmø has started construction on their arena, but Bella Centeret says they are still working on their plans for a multiarena...(lets hope so)

I dont really feel that it is a multiarena, more like a stadium...Im glad they are building it, since it will be good for future Euro cop or Olympics for football...But other than that its shouldnt influence the one in Ørestaden....
