Me.

Good to see these guys getting back on track with their lives, sometimes when they decide to venture out of their surrounding they get surprised by the development around them in the bigger city's, its too fast for them, hence they go back into hiding, but now small changes like building a shopping centre could change all that for them.

I seriously don't understand why he is posting the same article twice in a language he cannot even speak. What are you trying to prove?

Economy of Orania goes from strength to strength

Its going really well with the economy of the Orania in the Northern Cape and today thsi town will open its first shopping centre.

The "Saamstaan"(stand together) Shopping Centre was originally just a thought or idea, but the success of the supermarket that opened its doors earlier, was evidence of the buying power in the surroundings. The supermarket is already experiencing revenues of R1,5 million rand.

Mr. Frans de klerk, the head of the Orania Movement says residents of Petrusville, Hope Town, Vanderkloof and the surrounding farming community supports the town.

"In the past we had to do our shopping in Bloemfontein or in Kimberley but now, with the increasing petrol price, the centre has arrives at exactly the right time"

The shopping centre of R5 million rand is the brainchild of Dr. Soon Zevenster and has an area of 1800m². It is home to the OK- sentra supermarket, a hardware shop, a butchery and a ..... that sells everything and more. The site is designed so that it can allow for further expansion.

Ms. Eleanor Lombard, spokesperson of the Orania Movement says there plans already exist to add an art gallery and tea garden. The centre has opened up 20 new job opportunities, that makes a huge difference in a community of just 600 people.

Besides the growth in the small consumables sector, Orania is also experiencing a boost in tourism, says De Klerk.

"Five years ago land of between 500 m² and 2 000 m² could be bought for between R5000 and R10 000. A month ago a office space? was sold for R70 000."

The average house price in the town is round about R250 000, but there is a house on the market for R500 00. He said if the house is sold, it will be a first for the town. The average growth in house prices since 1992 was at an annual benchmarkk of 13.9% and there are 15 developments currently under construction, amongst others a new jewellery shop.

Don't give the ANC provincial government in the Northern Cape any ideas. Let's not use call names when we need to look at the facts of what Orania is. I do not think they are all evil AWB people but just volk making a life of accommodation in the new SA without causing any problems for the rest of SA. Even Nelson Mandela went to Orania when he was president and met with leader Carrol Boshoff and the other leaders of the town who are essentially Freedom Front Plus people in 1995.
