Interesting article, but not original (there was another similar one). I personally think Qatar will embark on a different path to Dubai, one that suits it more and somewhat will be focused on the gas sector notably LNG.

Whatever the outcome, Qatar will be recognized as the wealthiest nation on the planet for some time to come. They are at and around $50,000 per capita and the fun has just started for them.

While Dubai is diversifing its economy away from petroleum/gas, Qatar is actually building it on natural gas and tourism is not really as important as the gas industry here. Nice article and picture, too.

Nothing at all interesting about the article. Its more of a touristy sort of article, no real journalism. It was probably intended to be like that.

Of well lets just cross our fingers that we don't take the path of Dubai.

apart from the sports venues what are some of the activities that people can do in Doha (oustide the hotel, and not 4x4 on sand dunes), It's great that there are many hotels popping up, but I dont see them doing anything really touristy...

I think Qatar should set its own identity instead of following Dubai's footsteps

Hopefully not

However I think Qatar is having a steady approach toward education and sport(more than Dubai i think) and by this they are establishing a different identity.
