i live in Canada with south african ties

and on TV here have seen a lot of commercials - mainly car commercials that are shot in South Africa

currently there is one for BMW that i see a lot shot in and around Cape Town

Nissan had a bunch shot there

i swear there is one for Doritoes shot in Cape Town and one for a cereal

anyway - can anyone think of any others? and do they air in South Africa? or are they mainly foreign?

On Korean tv is a Levi Jeans ad, shot in Cape Town, mainly on the corner of Darling and Parliament streets.
Previous, a Mercedes ad shot in Cape Town- along Adderley and Strand streets, were shown.

The Toyota Fortuner advert was shot just past Park Rainy on da East cost :banana:

& yes that advert was for international use as well.

Archers Aqua ad in UK was filmed in houses in Zimbali, Suncoast Casino, and fountain infront of Gateway
There is a car insurance ad that has SA actors in it, and Chapman's peak

And how is this for bizarre... an ad for Co-Op (Swiss eqivalent of Pick & Pay) shows people having breakfast and hiking in the Ampitheatre in the berg....

The are also 2 KIA ad's that i was involved in in Durban that were shot around Gateway for the Picanto and Rio models.

Also a Heineken add for the UK market was just filmed at Joe Kool's on the beach front

loads and loads of UK ads are filmed in SA. Esp Cape Town CBD. I can spot cape town in almost every ad break when am in london

Here in Taiwan is a TV channel called "Hollywood"(how absolutetly corny).Anyway on this channel most of the movies are B-rated.About 60 % of all the movies are low budget American movies,shot on location.......in South Africa.Saw Hartbeespoort Dam,Cape Town,Lost City even Mphumalanga.

I saw the new emirates soccer world cup ad on Tv in Muscat yesterday and it was filmed in Big Bay Cape town of a glorious day with table mountain in the background

LIONS with Australian accents in the Pietermaritzburg CBD? Antipodean-sounding elephants, tigers and giraffes in the Durban CBD? KwaZulu-Natal has once again proved that it is the destination of choice when it comes to making commercials and movies.

Next Wednesday, parts of the PMB CBD will be shut off to traffic when an Australian commercial company comes to the City of Choice to film a 15-second advert that shows a lion trying, in vain, to cash a cheque in a bank, much to the concern of the other clients.

During the same week, the film crew will be in Durban to film the tiger, which will play a university student trying to do research for a William Blake essay. No one wants to help him.

The giraffe will be lost and will stick its head through the window of a third-storey building to ask directions. The elephant will be trying to get into a nightclub. In each advert, the public rush away screaming. The point? Use the Internet when you need information, and for services like Internet banking, advises the second largest Australian communications company, Optus.

For the lion advert, Optus wanted something that symbolised a classical financial institution and they found exactly what they were looking for in the architecture of the FNB branch in Church Street.

Jock, the lion, is no stranger to the limelight, having appeared in several other foreign commercials.

All the animals were trained by Lion Park trainer Jim Stockley.

“We are very excited. It is great news for Pietermaritzburg and KZN. We had a bit of publicity when they shot the NikNaks advert here many years ago. KZN has so much diversity in landscapes from the beach to the mountains and it is relatively affordable,” said PMB Tourism’s Melanie Veness.

The public have been asked not to come rubber-necking during the shoot.

Nestle chose them for its international yoplait campaign.
The ads featured actress Denise Worme, with groups running in the streets (cape town) with large tongues and smiles eating yoplait.
Also some of the photos on the yoplait products were taken in SA for it to be secret
from rivals.

yip its not far from Pretoria as well, most car companies use it for long distance testing, was just recently used in that Cherry advert as well.
