Built in the Nineties period in the Post-Modern style

Notable architectural features :
The ANZ world HQ is a postmodern development that involved integration with historic neo-gothic buildings.

The ANZ World Headquarters building is essentially curtainwalled, however it features zig zag tracery which presents like gothic arched structural supports. These structural supports project out and add enormous depth and complexity to the ANZ building facade. The step-back massing effect effect culminates in a gable like structures intersecting on a pitched roofline which covers over the cooling tower. The effect is of a skyscraper Tudor gothic. This gives ANZ World Headquarters building a picturesque mass and landmark qualities. A subtle weather spire sits discretely atop the roof.

A podium is used to be sympathetic to the scale of surrounding heritage buildings, and contributes to the streetscape with lanterns and a brown stone like facade. The emphasis of the ANZ skyscraper is purely vertical.

Something that breaks the mould. It looks great from street level although I wish there would have been some setbacks and some better resolution towards the top.

It is actually gothic Post Modern. Neo-gothic structures were built in the latter part of the 1800s such as the building in the last pic tayser posted.

This is one of my 2 favourite talls in Australia.

Hey there everyone!!! I PERSONALLY THINK THAT THIS BUILDING IS BEAUTIFUL, I REALLY LIKE THE TOP PART OF THE BUILDING. I THOUGH IT WOULD BE TALLER BUT IT ISN'T BUT I THINK THAT IT IS A GOOD HEIGHT THAT IS WHY I GAVE IT 9/10 BECAUSE OF BEAUTI AND TALLNESS. ;)

Post-Mod pile of sh#%! Why do cities want to build such monstrosities? Gothic (if it's meant to be Gothic...) belongs in the middle ages not the 20th/21st C.

I think it's great, the style is quite unique for modern skyscrapers.

Ok, I live in and love Melb. I DON'T mind this building...it's ok.i worked in it for a short time and the funtion room at the tops is great.I do however think it's a poor modern attempt to blend the amazing gothic bank on street level that it was suposedly designed to compliment.Also I have this thing about brown bulidings...reclad everything brown in melbourne and then step back and take a look.However it 's just my opinion.some dramatic set back and a bit more hight would have made this really special.

I love this building. My personal fav in Melbourne. I'm not really a fan of Eureka, maybe i didnt get enough time bonding with the building when i was working in melbourne near the building site.

I don't like this kind of postmodern pseudo-gothic towers... 5/10

On some angles it looks great, and on other angles it doesn't look too impressive! I really like the originality of this building however, and I think it's a good addition to Melbourne's skyline. Though, I think the colours could have been a bit better.

A very good representation of PoMo. This tower will probably polarize people; you'll either love it (Muse) or hate it (TallerBetter) depending on your like/dislike of Post Modernism.

I think it works very well and is an excellent homage to to the gothic/neogothic styles of previous centuries. Hight is good but the little antenna on top is horrible. Lucky you can only see it from above.
