That's if we are counting fans as fans and supporters and not just as supporters. zee July 19th, 2006, 02:39 PM blackburn rovers - 45000 arsenal - unlimited mistertee July 21st, 2006, 06:56 PM A quarter of a million people turned out to see Leeds Utd parade the League Championship when they won it in '91-'92. So 250,000 I guess. Ciudad Bristol July 24th, 2006, 04:45 PM 40,000 Bristol City fans were in attendance at the League 1 playoff final at Millenium Stadium 3 years ago. If we were in the Prem with a stadium to match, we would get this every home game. Mez July 24th, 2006, 04:50 PM Hmmmm. Not really sure but I think Old Trafford would have to be reshaped slightly. Maybe to something like this http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/byorg/abbey/ap/img/infinity.gif clarky July 24th, 2006, 09:26 PM 40,000 Bristol City fans were in attendance at the League 1 playoff final at Millenium Stadium 3 years ago. If we were in the Prem with a stadium to match, we would get this every home game. I saw the Gas at wembley v Tranmere(leyland daf trophy)atleast 80% of the fans in the stadium were Rovers fans. Scarecrow July 24th, 2006, 09:31 PM And 95% of them were Toffees and Kopites at a loose end for a few hours.... Seth Gecko July 25th, 2006, 03:03 AM 14 million GNU July 25th, 2006, 03:15 PM Id like to have something like the Reliant stadium in Stuttgart http://www.soulofamerica.com/images/photostx/houston/ReliantStadium.jpg http://www.concacaf.com/competitions/goldcup/2005/downloads/RELIANT_STADIUM/Reliant.png Wednesday July 26th, 2006, 12:28 PM Its hard to say, we took 41,000 to Cardiff, a 200 mile trip for a poor division 3 final. Maybe 80,000 lewisskinner August 17th, 2006, 02:57 PM Id like to have something like the Reliant stadium in Stuttgart http://www.soulofamerica.com/images/photostx/houston/ReliantStadium.jpg http://www.concacaf.com/competitions/goldcup/2005/downloads/RELIANT_STADIUM/Reliant.png That is gorgeous! I dunno about us. There were about 60,000 came out for the parade after championship promotion, and there are very big supporters clubs in London and the South west, and also in Germany. I'd hazard at 100,000, but Wednesday would always be bigger, so I'd say Wednesday's estimate is a bit conservative. paulmat August 17th, 2006, 03:46 PM ^^ I agree about the reliant stadium. Lewisskinner, you'll probably get extra supporters from around the country now that your in the Premiership, and I think with Wednesdays poor display's lately, blades could have a larger fanbase. lewisskinner August 17th, 2006, 04:17 PM yes, but are they supporters? Manchester United probably has more supporters than any club in world football, but I'd hazard that more people have seen Liverpool at Anfield than Manchester United at Old Trafford in the last 10 years. I'd also say that Sheffield United probably has a bigger away following than Man U! johnnycakes June 21st, 2010, 09:41 PM yes, but are they supporters? Manchester United probably has more supporters than any club in world football, but I'd hazard that more people have seen Liverpool at Anfield than Manchester United at Old Trafford in the last 10 years. I'd also say that Sheffield United probably has a bigger away following than Man U! sheff u take taxi's to away games! Schmeek June 21st, 2010, 11:22 PM I saw the Gas at wembley v Tranmere(leyland daf trophy)atleast 80% of the fans in the stadium were Rovers fans. Wouldn't 100% of the fans inside Wembley that day be Rovers fans?? Luke80 June 23rd, 2010, 02:34 PM I'd also say that Sheffield United probably has a bigger away following than Man U! You're clearly not familiar with the size of the 'pot' even hardcore supporters names have to go into to stand a chance of getting away ticket then... A friend has had a season ticket at Old Trafford for over 10 consecutive years, been to virtually every away game she could get tickets for, used to go across Europe for CL games, been to 2 CL finals. Last season she still didn't get an away ticket for 3 PL games! Global fanbase for Manchester United is probably into the 10s of millions. johnnycakes June 23rd, 2010, 09:10 PM man utd get thousands applying for every away game, they've always had the best away support in England, the only other team who come close is liverpool. The Fool September 1st, 2010, 10:46 PM I think our 6,000 stadium is even too big lol alabro September 2nd, 2010, 12:02 AM We still hold the British record attendance for a league match (Rangers, circa 118,000 IIRC), and i'd love to recover that type of capacity and have a huge ground again, Nou Camp-esque in the sheer size of it, if not quite in the design of it! AndrewC September 12th, 2010, 03:01 AM My mate Dave is getting pretty pissed off that I always get to see Norwich City play while he just has to wander around the shops all afternoon. I've asked Delia to put another deck-chair up for him but she says she can't afford it at the moment. AndrewC September 12th, 2010, 03:03 AM Seriously though, Norwich could easily take in 30,000 every home match. We should have a stadium with that kind of capacity. We get more in on average than Ipswich. TonyYeboah September 12th, 2010, 09:26 PM I'd also say that Sheffield United probably has a bigger away following than Man U! That's the Sheff U who took fewer than 400 to Cardiff? On another note, Leeds have now sold out every single away league game for 3 and a half seasons straight, and tickets are only available to season ticket holders or those who paid Ken Bates' £35 members tax. 6,700 sold for Barnsley away on Tuesday TonyYeboah September 12th, 2010, 09:28 PM Seriously though, Norwich could easily take in 30,000 every home match. We should have a stadium with that kind of capacity. We get more in on average than Ipswich. That is pretty amazing. I never thought I'd see Norwich fans taunt Leeds with 'Your ground's too big for you' Then again, let's swap boards and ticket prices and see who's ground really is too big for whom! AndrewC September 19th, 2010, 08:05 PM Ken Bates is a knob. TonyYeboah September 21st, 2010, 03:48 PM I'd also say that Sheffield United probably has a bigger away following than Man U! Sheffield United have sold 1,900 of their 2,700 tickets for the derby at Leeds on Saturday matthemod September 24th, 2010, 05:33 AM Ok, 6700 is a remarkable figure for an away game don't get me wrong, but Barnsley is only 20 something miles away from Leeds...so it's hardly too much of a burden. johnnycakes September 24th, 2010, 08:47 PM Ok, 6700 is a remarkable figure for an away game don't get me wrong, but Barnsley is only 20 something miles away from Leeds...so it's hardly too much of a burden. getting allocated 6700 away tickets is a rareity these days in english football, you woudnt get that in the premiership bar blackburn. Briggsy September 25th, 2010, 12:10 AM Wednesday usually fill out the away end at Barnsley, and come close to doing it at most grounds. We took 1,294 down to Plymouth the other week so IF Sheffield United are struggling to sell 2,700 I find that laughable considering when we last played Leeds we took 5,800 TonyYeboah October 3rd, 2010, 01:21 PM I'd also say that Sheffield United probably has a bigger away following than Man U! I was just checking the Middlesbrough website and noticed that Sheffield United took a whopping 724 to the Riverside in August. It was on the TV, so I can understand a smaller following. We play Middlesbrough in a couple of weeks and it's on TV too. Sold five and a half thousand tickets LiamG October 7th, 2010, 02:39 AM Bangor City - Bout 2,000? |
