I see threads talking about top airlines and certian favorites and I rarely ever see my favorite airlines on those lists or people talking about them. So I wanted to see what airlines people here liked and why. It doesn't matter why you like them it can be for an reason.

1. Continental: Great service, love their aircraft and their hub in Houston. The staff was very friendly and accomodating and I like the abundance of snacks they give you.

2. American Airlines: MD80's (super 80's). I love their fleet and I just enjoy flying with them.

3. Southwest: I was suprised at how friendly the staff was when I flew them to Las Vegas for the first time. The pilots and rest of the crew seemed really excited to be flying with us. I also think the unassigned seating is cool and you gotta love the winglets on those new 737-700's.

US airlines have gotten so much worse. I cant stand American airlines anymore, though their international flights surprisingly got better. Continental is the best as far as US intl flights are concerned.

Other than that British airways business and first class, emirates, and the new Saudi Airlines are the best ive been on.

Cant wait for the new Airbus A380 though

Continental is definately leaps and bounds in front of most US airlines in terms of Domestic service... The new E terminal in Houston is a HUGE improvement over the pre-remodel C terminal, and their Newark hub isn't too shabby either.

The only time I've flown international on a US airline was from Chicago to Beijing and from Shanghai to San Francisco on United.

Either way I've never flown first class or anything but in terms of economy I'd have to rate it

1) United Economy Plus

The extra leg room works wonders. I'm a bit on the tall size, and I love it.

2) Continental

While its not the most comfortable, the service is usually good and the hub in Houston, which I always connect through, is amazing.

3) American Airlines

Er, not so great anymore. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of the extra leg room throughout coach... But its really alot better than the mess that US Airways has become... so its number three.

1) Cathay Pacific Airways

They have no equal. The world's best airlines are in Asia and CX sets the standard as far as I'm concerned. I never do anything less than jump at the chance to fly them.

2) All Nippon Airways

Japan's best airline by a mile and some of the classiest staff (and colors) around. And you'll never eat better food when airborne.

Don't really have a number 3. I've always enjoyed my experiences with Southwest and jetBlue in terms of value but since moving to Asia there's just no comparison as far as getting what you pay for. Some airlines will always have a special place in my heart as well (United, my former employer) but are certainly not my favorites as a paying customer.

Well, my favourite are:

-Air Madrid (new Airlines fom Madrid. Are very new, so are still unknown...but it will surprise a lot of people. I've flyed with the most important airlines from USA and Europe, but Air Madrid just shocked me...A lot of people will say I'm liar and a biased, but that's because they haven't flyed with Air Madrid :)

-China Eastern Airlines (well, this ir more emotional than sensible, but they are quite modern and I was treated very nice by those chinese stewardess)

-Southwest. A Nice Airlines with the most important thing: really nice stewardess.

American airlines-best breakfast i've ever had!

El-Al- well, because i'm Israeli, and because they have improved alot in the past 2 years and they have "friends" on the in-flight entertainment :)

Continental-like the colors, and they have 2 daily flights to tel aviv :)

Only done American domestics.

Continental has the best service, but they also have the smallest seats.

Jet Blue is my favorite - better room, better seats, better service, nicer planes. Just avoid JFK unless you like sitting on the runway, and they don't fly everywhere or when you want them to.

I still have a soft spot for Delta, even though their service and equipment sucks now. I really hope they can get better management back in there.

Come to think of it, I really hate the US airlines. I want to try a foreign carrier just to see what they are like.

My recent trip by CX, they served mini-magnum icecream after meal instead of Haagen dazs. :(

All VS aircraft are four-engined but there's absolutely nothing to worry about as far as two engine long haul travel. The 777 has proved that.

My favourites are Emirates ( wonderful experience, great airport in Dubai ), Virgin Atlantic ( amazing IFE, incredible planes ) and BA - for sentimental reasons as I have had some memorable flying experiences with them, even if their service is not quite what it used to be.

U.S Airline service Stinks!

There are exceptions like Continental, Jetblue, Hawaian airlines, alaskan airlines.

U.S airlines have more planes and more routes domestically than European/ and Asian airlines so operations cost are too high so they cut on everything.

But surely international flights in Brittish Airways, Iberia, Alitalia which are airlines that i have flown is simply superior to American airlines.

I'll only deal with the airlines I've flown long distances with. All to the US:

1) British Airways - Best airline I've flown
2) Virgin Atlantic - I love their interior design, draped in the union flag and the top of the range in-flight entertainment.
3) Air France - Nice food, not as good as the previous two but one of the best airlines I've flown with.

Worst long haul airlines:
1) Cubana - Pretty awful with random stops, delays of several days because they only have one long distance plane and America makes it difficult for Cuba to get oil and hardly any leg room.
2) United Airlines - Squashed with crap service and not that impressive even when we were upgraded to business class.
3) Iberia - Bad experiences with luggage getting lost

^^^ Iberia is crap (although experiences with luggage getting lost have happened in all Airlines). If you came to Spain, try Air Madrid.
