ITALIAN-THAI DEVELOPMENT
The friendship of Dr. Chaijudh Karnasuta, a Thai, and Mr.Georgio Berlingieri, an Italian, led to the foundation of the Italthai Group, a major Thai construction, trading and manufacturing group. It all started in January 1954 when Mariners Co.,Ltd., a company belonging to Dr. Chaijudh's brother-in-law, signed a contract with the Harbour Department to salvage five ships sunk in the Chao Phraya River. Relying on the technical support of a Japanese salvage company, Dr. Chaijudh counter-guaranteed all the bonds and guarantees required by the contract. When the Mariners Co.,Ltd., failed to salvage the ships, the Harbour Department threatened to cancel the contract and to enforce the bond and counter-guarantee.
At this time Mr. Berlingieri, who was employed by the Archimede Salvage Co.,Ltd., an Italian salvage company based in Rome, having successfully completed salvage operations in Vietnam was looking for work for his company's equipment. He accepted a sub-contract from Mariners Co.,Ltd. to salvage the five ships.
Mr. Berlingieri's company was able to successfully complete the contract and Dr. Chaijudh was released from his contractual obligation.
As a result of this first work together, Dr. Chaijudh and Mr. Berlingieri set up a small oxygen plant to supply oxygen to the salvage operation industry. The company was called Italthai Industrial Co.,Ltd. and is today one of the cornerstones of Italthai Group.

Thai Obayashi was established in 1974 by Obayashi Corporation of Japan and four major shareholders, Bangkok Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, the Crown Property Bureau and Metro Group under the chairmanship of Sommai Huntakul. The company actually evolved from a small Obayashi representative office that had opened in Bangkok 10 years previously and supervised the construction of the AIA headquarters.
Since our founding, Thai Obayashi, with the support of our parent company, has served as a pioneer for the Thai construction industry. Our earliest projects include the first pipeline across the Chao Phraya River and Bangkok Bank Silom Road Headquarters, where we introduced the OWS foundation building technology.

K-TECH Construction Public Company Limited was established in 1997 (as K-TECH Construction & Engineering Company Limited) converting to a public company in February, 2004 prior to listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
The company was established on the eve of the Asian financial crisis and has operated under a diverse range of market conditions. While most sectors of the Thai economy were adversely impacted by the effects of the Asian financial crisis, the construction industry was particularly hard hit and those operating within the industry were required to operate in an environment of intense competition. It is against this background that K-TECH has evolved into one of Thailand’s leading construction and engineering companies
