Hindmarsh is the only true Soccer stadium because of there's no big distance behind the goals.

Yet they managed to fit it in to play an NRL game so why do they build these stadiums with such room behind the goals??

Generally when I go a sporting game I want to watch the game; and I am shocked that it doesn't bother you that you cannot see the whole field
Since nobody has said otherwise I can now only assume that is typical of the view from the top tier. I will never sit in the top tier of that stadium; and to think I thought great things of that stadium the times I have been (in the bottom tier).

That's quite the assumption, and am sorry to inform you that it's wrong. You're telling me that you have never been to a game where the people in front of you are slightly covering a tiny part of the field? I think it is YOU who has never been to watch a sporting event because to have someone sit in front and their head cover a small part of the field isn't uncommon.

I'll assume that by your name, you get to sit in the special wheelchair spots eh?

That's quite the assumption, and am sorry to inform you that it's wrong. You're telling me that you have never been to a game where the people in front of you are slightly covering a tiny part of the field? I think it is YOU who has never been to watch a sporting event because to have someone sit in front and their head cover a small part of the field isn't uncommon.
Just because it is common doesn't mean it is good and it is something that is very easily catered for. Disabled seating areas normally do have to have higher c-values but since you are such an expert in stadium design you would already know this.
Those pictures you have posted are alot more encouraging and I would Certainly assume that obstructed seats are not common at suncorp since I do not believe HOK could fuck a stadium up that badly, does anyone have a section plane for this stadium?
Well at least in AMI Stadium one can see the playing field from every seat (at least for rugby).

IHaveNoLegs, don't you have any brain either? I've been to Suncorp stadium and the sightlines are fine, it's a credit to Australian sport and is miles better than any kiwi stadium (which as cricket AND rugby stadiums fit the saying neither fish nor fowl).

As the pics show, the sightlines are fine. Most of the seats are close to the action too which helps. And it has pretty good atmosphere for games. The exterior is a little ugly IMO and I don't like the coloured seats, but for function, as a large rectangular stadium, it can't be beat.

I assume they are fine I was just asking if that one picture was typical and all I got was 'obstructed seats are alright' from those two. As for the constant comparison with NZ grounds, what exactly is the point of mentioning it?

Person from location x asks something about y, in\response person from y responds 'it’s better than anything at x’. Well thought out logic from person y isn't it?

When your views are SLIGHTLY obstructed by 1/10th of the person sitting in front of you's head, it's really is not that big of a deal. I would rather have that view, than be behind some dickhead with a enormous flag. A slight head-view happens at concerts, it happens at cinemas, it happens everywhere. I've seen stadiums FAR worse than Suncorp.

Other than yourself, no one seems to have had a problem. Probably due to the fact you're 4ft dwarf or something... Do you still need a booster seat to eat at the 'grown-ups' table?

No I don't but what does that have to do with Suncorp Stadium? And I'll ask yet again what is the constant need to bring that up?

So you are quite happy to go to a sporting game with obstructed views missing out on the most critical plays because you can't see the in goal areas or the posts but you still come out smiling. Well doesn't that make you our brightest star, gods greatest creation; better than Jesus Christ and Mohammed combined.
Most people would rather be able to see the whole field

Note that not Suncorp nor any Australian picture features in that thread, I suggest if you post suncorp you'll get people bagging you for being petty.

The point is that the views at Suncorp ARE NOT OBSTRUCTED. There are no piers holding up the roof, there's nothing like that. The views are fantastic.

The first time I went to Suncorp was in 2003 for an Australia V South Africa rugby game in the lead up to the Rugby World Cup. I've since been at least 20-30 times to international rugby union, super 14 and rugby league matches and I have sat in all three tiers, I've been in a corporate box, I've been in a corporate suite, I've been just about everywhere in this stadium and it is easily one of the best stadiums in the world.

Pillars are not the only thing that can obstruct views...
Fantastic stadium I was just asking about that one picture on the previous page and it all seemed to get out of hand with petty comments like 'yeah well your stadium sucks'.

Okay, let me answer your exact complaint.

Views from the very back of the top tier aren't great. But they never, ever will be, ever, anywhere. That said, every seat maintains a good view of the ground. And I've never had a 'bad' seat (and the furthest I've ever sat was the fourth row from the back on the top tier at the end).

I think many of the photos which have been posted since then have shown that the views there are great.

It'll probably be okay, probably just needs a few (hundred?) thousand dollars in repairs.

Same thing happened to LP Field during the Nashville floods last year:

Gloucester City suffered more than most in floods three years ago.

Due to not being able to get insurance any more (it was the third flood in a decade), they've had to abandon the ground and now play in Cheltenham (the town's rugby club refused to share their ground).
