Unique rin sa bauang. Baggak Festival. Baggak means morning star

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bf/MainStreetElectrical2010.jpg
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MainStreetElectrical2010.jpg

ahy hehehe thanks too! What I can say is that i'm a Canadian fetish :lol: i like any Canadian stuff except Justin Bieber errrr

Have a wonderful Christmas too! I would want to try skating at winterlude in Ottawa or try different ice sports at Whistler

My wife and I are not a big fans of Justin Bieber either, but my nieces and nephews and grand kids, they just adore him. Plus he makes a lot of music that top the chart sometimes. So there must be something magical about him. Our favourites are; Celine Dion, from Montreal, Michael Buble and Josh Groban both from Vancouver, and Bryan Adams, who lives in our neighbourhood, and Anne Murray from the maritime.

Repertoire of winter sports are available here in Canada, for every enthusiasts to take advantage of. Whistler which caters to a lot of winter sports is the mecca for all North American, Europe and other parts of the world. My favourite aside from ice hockey is the hi-jump, and the luge. I am not into those last two, because they're extreme sport.

But since you just came out with flying colour from your Board exam, perhaps, try your luck here in the West Coast or in the Prairie tar sand. I am certain that you're going to hit it big here young man.

MARILOU GUIEB

BAGUIO CITY—Rep. Ronald Co-salan, National Artist Ben Cabrera, board members of Benguet, and the Sangguniang Bayan of Aringay in La Union have filed a writ of kalikasan against Baguio City officials to stop the use of the Irisan dump.
The respondents include Mayor Mauricio Domogan, vice mayor Daniel Fariñas, the city councilors, the City Environment and Parks and Management Office, the Solid Waste Management Board and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

A trash slide killed six in August due to a heap of uncollected and sorted garbage amounting to over 15,000 tons still sitting at the dump.

The case was filed before the Supreme Court to prevent further damage to the environment by the city’s continued use of the dump, which has affected residents as well as water sources of the province.

kawawa rin ang Baguio at the first place. Walang mapagtapunan ng basura. it is really a serious problem for them

But like what you said na hindi sila nagppractice ng segregation, sana ay gawin narin ng Baguio residents NGAYON din

An easy but expensive, not immediate but lasting solution for Baguio is to build an Engineered landfill like at San Fernando landfill. It would take few years to build, but they would have to find proper areas to dispose their garbage while the landfill is under construction. :ohno:

Baguio must find a wide, empty lot, Baguio government-owned land to temporarily dispose their garbage, but must be far from residential areas para walang magkasakit

Lingsat is the best example.

Malaking tulong talaga yung Sanitary landfill roon.

MANILA, Philippines—The House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET) last week upheld the election in 2010 of Eufranio Eriguel as the duly elected representative of the second district of La Union.

“I feel very happy and more resolute because of this victory. This only proves that the votes I got in the 2010 elections truly reflect the overwhelming vote of support of the people in the second district,” said Eriguel, who was mayor of Agoo, La Union, for three terms.

The HRET dismissed the election protest filed by Thomas L. Dumpit for lack of merit. Eriguel’s victory marked a change of leadership in the district from the Dumpit clan.

Winning margin

The HRET decision said that based on the canvassed and consolidated official results, Eriguel obtained 121,236 votes while Dumpit got 63,622, for a winning margin of 57,614 votes in the May 10, 2010, elections.

The decision said that after a recount, Eriguel’s margin even increased. “…[P]rotestee’s original margin of 57,614 votes increased to 57,709, or an additional 95 votes for protestee,” the tribunal said.

“This decision should send a strong signal to my detractors who continue to question the legitimacy of my [holding] office,” Eriguel said.

hello kuya/sir Rod! Sorry talaga at di ako nakasipot last saturday

For Ilocos Sur, dahil iyon sa pagbayad ng government sa Ilocos Sur LGUs ng nakolekta nito mula sa Virginia Tobacco excise tax through RA 7171. For La Union naman, may nakura rin mula sa RA 7171 at pati rin sa pag-acquire na nito ng Bauang Power Plant Corporation na milyones ang value (pero placed under sa liabilities nito, since kailangan nitong ipatakbo ang power plant)

PUREGOLD Price Club Inc. beefed up its store network with the scheduled opening of its 100th store in Taguig City on Monday.
The new store will be located at Gen. A. Luna Street corner Col. P. Cruz Street in Barangay Tuktukan, beside the Taguig City Hall, the supermarket chain operator said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Puregold considers the newest store as a “milestone in its continuing expansion and development.”

Puregold earlier revealed plans to open 38 branches this year, raising its store network to 100 by yearend. It plans to open at least 25 stores in 2012, half of which will be opened in the affluent cities in the Visayas and Mindanao, marking its expansion beyond Luzon.

Another 25 stores should be rolled out in 2013 to bring its network to 150 stores.

In September, Puregold raised P7.5 billion from an initial public offering to pay down debt and finance its store expansion.

From 2011 to 2013, the grocery chain will expand its store network in Davao, Rizal, Cavite, Bataan, Pangasinan, Baguio City, Ilocos Norte, Caloocan, Bulacan, Camarines Sur, Laguna, Quezon City, Legaspi City, Iloilo City, Leyte, Cebu City, Tarlac City, La Union and Albay.

Pantabangan is a 4th class municipality in the province of Nueva Ecija, Philippines. According to the latest census, it has a population of 25,520 people in 4,808 households. This is the site of the Pantabangan dam.

he Municipality of Bacoor (Filipino: Bayan ng Bacoor) is a first class urban municipality in the province of Cavite, Philippines. It is a lone district congressional district of Cavite. A sub-urban area, the town is located approximately 16 kilometers away from Manila, on the southeastern shore of Manila Bay, at the northwest portion of the province with an area of 52.4 square kilometers. Bordered to the east by Las Piñas City and Muntinlupa City in Metro Manila, to the south is Dasmariñas, to the west are Kawit and Imus and to the north by Bacoor Bay an inlet of Manila Bay. Bacoor's is separated from Las Piñas by the Zapote River and from Imus and Kawit by Bacoor River.

Its location, southwest of Metro Manila, makes Bacoor an important gateway to Metro Manila. This is further reinforced by the fact it contains the south end of the Manila-Cavite Expressway. Bacoor is among the key areas and the fastest growing municipalities in Cavite together with Imus and Dasmariñas, mainly because of their location. Two SM malls are located in Bacoor. During weekdays many residents leave the district to go their places of work in the metropolitan areas such as Manila and Makati cities.

In the 2007 Census of Population conducted by the National Statistics Office, Bacoor registered a population of 441,197 making it the most populous municipality in the Philippines. It also registered the highest average family income in Cavite in 1997 and 2000[citation needed].

League of Cities head backs Nueva Ecija town's cityhood
By Manny Galvez The Philippine Star Updated December 20, 2011 12:00 AM 3 comments to this post

BALER, Aurora ,Philippines – The head of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) has expressed support for the cityhood of the municipality of Pantabangan in Nueva Ecija.

“As long as they meet the requirements, there is no problem with us,” LCP president and San Fernando City, Pampanga Mayor Oscar Rodriguez said.

However, he said that while he favors the conversion into a city of Pantabangan, the LCP is not endorsing the move.

Under the Local Government Code, a town may be converted into a component city if it meets at least two of the three requirements – average annual income of P100 million in the last two consecutive years, population of 150,000 and contiguous territory of at least 100 square kilometers.

Pantabangan Mayor Romeo Borja Sr. and second district Rep. Joseph Gilbert Violago have both expressed their support for the conversion, saying it would bring further development to the municipality.

21 New Cities in the Philippines?

Sunday, February 27, 2011

Posted by Wizzdumb

The League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) is endorsing the conversion into cities of 21 municipalities that have already met the requirements for cityhood set by Constitution and the Local Government Code. The list of municipalities from various parts of the country below have already qualified for cityhood based on the standards set by law:

Cabuyao, Laguna
San Pedro, Laguna
Cainta, Rizal
Taytay, Rizal
Binangonan, Rizal
Bacoor, Cavite
Gen. Trias, Cavite
Imus, Cavite
Carmona, Cavite
Silang, Cavite
San Pedro, Laguna
Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija
Calaca, Batangas
Sto. Tomas, Batangas
Bauan, Batangas
Nasugbu, Batangas
Mauban, Quezon
Marilao, Bulacan
Sta. Maria, Bulacan
Norzagaray, Bulacan
Limay, Bataan

Imus, Bacoor and Cabuyao have pending cityhood application in Congress, but the 18 others are still waiting for their congressmen to file cityhood bills on their behalf.

LCP President Oscar Rodriguez, mayor of San Fernando City, Pampanga, said their group would be firm in opposing the conversion into cities of 16 other municipalities recently granted cityhood status by the Supreme Court. These municipalities are:

Batac, Ilocos Norte
Tabuk, Kalinga
Tayabas, Quezon
Baybay, Leyte
Catbalogan, Samar
Borongan, Eastern Samar
Guihulngan, Negros Oriental
Bogo, Cebu
Naga, Cebu
Carcar, Cebu
Tandag, Surigao del Sur
Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte
El Salvador, Misamis Oriental
Mati, Davao Oriental
Bayugan, Agusan del Sur
Lamitan, Basilan.

How does a municipality become a city?

Under the Local Government Code, as amended by Republic Act 9009 that took effect on June 30, 2007, a municipality may be converted into a component city only if it meets two of three requirements: "locally generated average annual income of P100 million for the last two consecutive years and contiguous territory of at least 100 square kilometers or a population of not less than 150,000 inhabitants."

purchasing a bldg is way cheaper than buying a lot and constructing it. It saves time and effort.

If anyone has idle land or warehouse/building, just send them a letter of intent and they will see if the site is feasible for a Savemore branch. :)

Joey Pavia / Correspondent

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—The dealer of at least 11 vehicle brands based in Pampanga is bullish about economic growth in 2012, notably in the countryside areas of North and Central Luzon and Cagayan Valley.

Liberato “Levy” Laus of the Laus Group of Companies (LGC) said the growth is expected in the agriculture sector and business-process outsourcing that are seen to carry growth in Regions 1, 2 and 3.” He cited the government’s projected gross development product (GDP) growth “between 3 and 8 percent.”

“I am confident that it will reach the maximum of 8 percent,” added Laus, chairman and CEO of the LGC which is involved in media, car dealership, insurance and food business.

Laus said the remittances of overseas Filipinos workers (OFWs) will also be the “major factor” in the projected growth next year “only vulnerable to disasters caused by natural calamities and unforeseen incidents.”

The growth in the three areas, he added, will benefit the LGC’s 33 car dealership branches in North and Central Luzon and Quezon City. They are the dealers of Mitsubishi, Ford, Chevrolet, BMW, Kia, Hyundai, Suzuki, Haima and Nissan.

But Laus said that “Pampanga still remain as top vehicle buyer with good loan payers” in his area of business.

“Same as with Zambales and Bataan,” added Laus, whose LGC group now has 1,300 direct workers. He recently expanded operations in Pangasinan, Baguio City and La Union.

GLOBE Telecom, Inc. on Tuesday said it has completed landline interconnection with Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) in the provinces of La Union, Nueva Ecija and Benguet.
This, after the two telcos completed landline interconnection in the provinces of Quezon, Laguna, Bulacan and Zamboanga City earlier in the year.

The interconnection between the networks frees the consumers from paying long distance rates when calling other networks within the same province or city, Globe Telecom said. Prior to the interconnection, long distance rates were charged to consumers when calling other networks even if it is within the same province or city.

"The successful activation of local interconnection in La Union, Benguet and Nueva Ecija ... benefits ... subscribers in the country who deserve and quality affordable telecom services," Froilan M. Castelo, Globe Telecom's head for corporate and legal services group, said in the statement.

Mediaquest Holdings, Inc., a unit of the Beneficial Trust Fund of PLDT, has a minority stake in BusinessWorld. -- Kathleen A. Martin

For the HOLIDAY break, why not treat the family to some outdoor entertainment? A roster of luxury resorts provide not only comfort and convenience, but also ideal venues for enjoying sports and nature.
Northbound travelers can head to Thunderbird Resorts in Binangonan, Rizal and Poro Point, La Union. These establishments have other forms of recreation besides the casino. The 11-hectare Rizal branch, located on a mountain overlooking Laguna lake, is a short distance away from the Angono Petroglyphs, the oldest known work of art in the country. Visitors can bike or trek to the site for a glimpse of this rock wall with human and animal figures dating back to 3000 B.C.

The 65-hectare La Union branch, meanwhile, sits on a cliff overlooking the South China Sea. It has The Cliffs Golf & Beach Club, which offers a par 36 nine-hole course, as well as watersports like surfing and wakeboarding. Other possibilities for family fun include an infinity pool and a children's pool, a boardwalk and events area, volleyball and basketball courts, and a bicycle center.

Sana naman mag give way narin sila.

:okay: well said!
