The Singapore Power Building, one of the landmarks in Orchard area is undergoing reclad works.

Was built in 1975, designed by Group 2 Architects. It's a huge Brutalist building consisting of two blocks linked by a central core. Featuring external staircases and extensive sunshading, it has a high entrance lobby and an auditorium on the first level.

Some parts of it look white when i saw it today.

Brown suits it very well. Yet another building worthy of conservation.

This building looks brutal by day, but it has the potential to be transformed into a real beauty and landmark by night if suitably lighted up...hope Sg Power can consider that

Of cos, since they dun need to pay for the power. ^ ^ :P

Would be interesting to see what would become of this hulk. Hope the brutal charm would not be destroyed.

I tend not to like it... But I like this building ;-) Although worthy of conservation... I don't know ^ ^ Former Jurong Town Hall looks a little bit like it too...

Google is your friend ;-)

ALPOLICŪ is an Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) composed of a thermoplastic core and aluminum skins. After almost 30 years in the market place, ALPOLICŪ's ACM has become known as one of the most suitable materials for the external and internal cladding of buildings because of its light weight, high rigidity, excellent flatness and long lasting coating qualities.

Some regions of the world restrict the use of ACM because of its inflammable plastic core. To answer this problem, Mitsubishi Chemical devoted all of its energy to improving the core, establishing a production technology called ALPOLICŪ/fr, a fire-rated ACM. ALPOLICŪ/fr meets the fire-safety requirements in most countries and regions including North America and Japan without any restrictions. Today, ALPOLICŪ/fr is the external and internal cladding material of choice for new buildings and retrofit projects worldwide, ensuring fire safety at a competitive price.

Some of their works include Burj Al Arab and Perth Central Park Building.

Guess Spring Leaf Tower is also using the same material.

I can't imagine it in glittering metal cladding. :runaway:

The new owners of the Metz should be happy....by the way, they will probably be getting very familiar with this building for another reason: I was told that the Metz will have exactly as many parking lots as apartments. Guests: park across the road!

Alpolic is a brand name with a variety of products. Light weight composite panels like what you see are just one of them and the finish is usually powder coated.

and yes, this is a good place to park when you are in the area.

It could be powder coated and not glitter at all.

Well I don't know what you call powder-coated but it's certainly a bit shiny... Quite similar with the Singtel Building next door, actually.
