Cebu is the gateway to around two thirds of the Philippines archipelago. It is the primary destination of approximately 35% of the Philippines' foreign visitors.
Superb destinations, low operating costs and excellent government administrative support favor the development of new destinations which are serviced from Cebu. Almost 3,000 new rooms are planted to open within 2 years. There are opportunities for ocean and land recreation, transportation, information marketing, and tourism related developments such as mountain resorts, hotels and golf courses. Cebu's present dive and beach destinations represent an investment value of hundreds of millions of dollars.
After their arrival, travellers retrace historic journeys, play golf, hike mountain trails, laze on pristine white sand and dive on exotic coral reefs that equal the very best anywhere.
Cebu's attraction make it the Philippines' premier tourist destination.

Magellan's Cross (Cebu City)
-Cross planted by Ferdinand Magellan in the year 1521. The original cross was encased in hollow tindalo wood in the early 19th century upon the orders of a bishop to prevent devotees, who believed it had miraculous powers, from taking it home chip by chip. At the same time, a kiosk/chapel was also built where the encased cross would be displayed. The site where the kiosk/chapel was built and where the cross now stands, is widely believed to be the very same spot where Magellan first planted the cross.

Yes of course! I've been there but it was long time ago. It was during Sinulog. I just love the Mardi-Gras style parade. It's very festive. The hotels are just wonderful. Many friendly and hospitable people. Sure, the city indeed needs alot of work but it still a beautiful and an exotic city in a unique way. I'm hoping to visit Cebu sometime in the future :)
Skyprince July 8th, 2006, 08:56 AM I love tha Philippines. The beach looks very nice. Have a lot of Filipino friends and they are very kind.
