Lancaster PA is a city of 56,000 people located 70 miles west of center city Philadelphia. Lancaster County has over 500,000 residents. Some sections of the city have been going through some what of a renessiance lately. A $30 million baseball park was built last year. Currently, the Pennsylvania Academy of Music is building a $21 million school and Franklin and Marshall College is building a $40 million dollar life sciences building as well as dormitory apartments for all of their 1800 students. A $9 Lancaster Arts hotel is being built as well. A contentious $160 million convention center and Marriot hotel are also planned and the site has seen an entire city block leveled in preparation. Armstrong World Industries has sold its former sprawling factory complex to Lancaster General Hospital and F&M College. The college plans to turn a majority of the acrage into sports fields whild the hospital is planning on creating several new city blocks with a combination of commerical and residential. These are just some of the projects going on in the city.
