Fprmer WNYer July 21st, 2006, 01:46 AM OOPS !
I wanted to put this IN THE BUFFALO NON DEVELOPMENT THREAD
Pebble Creek July 21st, 2006, 02:29 AM Yes, things are really screwed up badly in Erie County
big time. Buffalo's going to be a ghost town soon. It's really
sad to see what's happening and what those elected officials have
done to Western NY
ROCguy July 21st, 2006, 02:32 AM Fprmer.... are you that pathetic that after making a retarded thread that you knew nobody would take seriously you had to use your second account to back you up? VERY sad.

Fprmer & Susie tell you the truth!
Fprmer tells you the truth, what's really going on !
He or She even gives you the facts and provides you with the links
to the truth. ROCguy your the one that's pathetic. Just because you
use other account names to try make Buffalo & Rochester sound like
everything is great. I don't think so!
ROCguy July 21st, 2006, 03:31 AM Um... I don't have any other account names, nor do I need any to make Buffalo and Rochester look great because the ARE. But your pathetic ass obviously needs all the accounts it can get for a PATHETIC attempt to make WNY look bad.. This is my last post on this thread and probably the last post PERIOD on it because the :lock: factor is imminent.
sargeantcm July 21st, 2006, 04:47 AM OOPS !
I wanted to put this IN THE BUFFALO NON DEVELOPMENT THREAD
Yeah, the big button that says "New Thread" is so similar to the little text line saying "Buffalo Non-Development Thread". You just didn't want to post there because you got run out so bad even you knew your pathetic rebuttals (typically consisting of the same dribble that was just thrown out) were useless.
I also find it amazing how very similar Fprmer and Pebble's sentence structures are. Unnecessary line breaks galore, bad punctuation, bad capitalization. Only difference is slightly improved spelling.
Why don't you find something to do in your own pathetic life instead of lamenting what you couldn't do here.
...Awaiting your broken record recording of the same "data", rather than arguing and defending your point. I should call you Ten-Second Tom, it's like it's new every time you hear it, you just have to post it...
And am I the only one wondering what a "Brain Population Drain" is? "Brian Population Drain" I can understand, provided alot of young Brians are moving out.
I wonder how this is different than the troll that trashed the USUI forum a few weeks ago? What does it take to get banned?
AmherstMan July 21st, 2006, 05:29 AM Fprmer & Susie tell you the truth!

Sometimes he is right. Ex-The Brain Drain. But other things he has no idea what he is talking about. I get things mixed up(only happens in summer though) And no, he doesnt always give you links that tell you the truth or to back him up. He does not live in WNY so he doesnt now the real deal.
StamfordCT July 21st, 2006, 06:24 AM What are you guys talking about? Buffalo is losing population or something???
NY state as a whole ( outside of NYC) has nothing going for them it seems. Nobody really pays any attention. Now Buffalo losing population......that isn't good at all for the rest of the state. They better do something about that
BuffCity July 21st, 2006, 06:49 AM you know...being an election year this is not suprising...infact after reading the article I see now that it was simply politics anyways.
I don't live in denial, infact I know Buffalo is hurting because I have lived in more healthy and vibrant places...but this is not the same Buffalo I left in 1999 and returned to in 2003, and in 2006 it is even more moving to see the changes...if you want to see them.
While I agree that taxes and the crazy asshole politicians are ruining the ENTIRE state, I also have to wonder if...
fprmer WNYer is actually...
A retard with balloons. :cucumber:
Buffalo forum meet folks will understand this. :)
StamfordCT July 21st, 2006, 03:53 PM So buffalo is losing population??
11x July 21st, 2006, 04:01 PM I've always enjoyed Buffalo. Growing up in T O and having friends go to Canisius I spent alot of time there. City is totally run down though, crime in the core is bad.
Great people - nowhere else have i had as many conversations with absolute strangers.
I look forward to my next trip.
BuffCity July 21st, 2006, 04:13 PM listen people, nobody knows the situation as far as population loss or gain...fact is its studied once every 10 years.
since 2000 there have been many job gains but some losses...we always hear about people leaving, but it's not fun to talk about those who move here.
The city has some rough areas, but it has some wonderful areas that many cities could only dream of having.
oh well...I guess those who understand Buffalo, appreciate Buffalo and enjoy Buffalo would simply know that change has happened and is happening.
xzmattzx July 21st, 2006, 04:21 PM What I don't understand is that the thread's title refers to brain drain, but the first post is about political corruption in the city. :?
veryprotourism July 21st, 2006, 04:40 PM So buffalo is losing population??
yeah, unfortunately. the city has been showing population decreases since the fiftys(over 580,000 at peak, less than 300,000 now) and the metro, while suffering less as a whole, has still shown a loss of of around 150,000 since 1970.
there have been some very positive moves in buffalo as of late, and investment in the last few years(though slow by comparison) has been greater than anything buffalo has seen in decades. furthermore, growth in medicine/healthcare, insurance, and banking/lending have signaled a slow but steady and long overdue diversification of a long manufacturing based economy.
still, buffalo has a really long way to go in so many areas, and only time will tell if any of the positive efforts of late will slow the population exodus.
NYC007 July 21st, 2006, 05:39 PM Aren't most midsize and small cities in the North East losing population? (...with the exception of those along the I-95 corridor) I don't think this is a problem unique to Buffalo. The fact is the American population is aging overall, and they're mostly turning into snowbirds, heading for places like Florida and New Mexico to live out the remainder of their days. Buffalo's weather is probably a large contributing factor to this, because let's face it; unless you like to ski, snowmobile, or play some other winter sports, then Buffalo's weather is not that enjoyable most of the year. And the 60+ set is more inclined to sit on the porch in a rocking chair...not go down to Holiday Valley with a snowboard. Also, the economic climate (taxes) and political corruption (County Executive screwing the people) are not helping matters much. I don't see it as a problem though. The city is experiencing a construction boom, and many older buildings are being rennovated. The city is on an up swing, and I don't think it has ever looked better in my lifetime, so who cares if people have left?! I would prefer a smaller, quaint, comfortable city over one that is too big for its own good. I love that I can drive home for lunch from my office to my home in 7 to 12 minutes because of the lack of traffic. In the last few months, I have spent time in Baltimore, DC, NYC, and Philadelphia for my job. And after driving around those cities, beautiful as they are, I will tell you that people in Buffalo don't know how good they've got it.
steel July 21st, 2006, 07:20 PM The fact the Fprmer left WNY proves that there is no brain drain. I am impressed that he figured out how to make a new thread even if it was a mistake.

Fine, but I still don't see the link between corruption and brain drain.

A guess from you is about as valid as that of a mule in a cathouse.
Xusein July 21st, 2006, 11:41 PM This "brain drain" is not unique to Buffalo...
Probably except for some booming suburban cities, most cities in the Northeast (including mine) are suffering a brain drain. Slow growth of white-collar jobs and relatively high cost of living is the reason here...
sargeantcm July 21st, 2006, 11:43 PM ^^ I can attest to that happening in southern NH. I would imagine it's possibly even worse in CT?

Actually, while bad here, it isn't even the worst in the state...
Lower Fairfield County is dealing with the worst...average houses near a half a mil, NIMBYs, and most of NYC's overspill is going to NJ
