inspired by the "YOUR QUESTIONS ABOBUT ISRAEL/SPAIN" threads I thought it might be an interesting idea to create a german equivalent.

I don't want to make me look as an expert, but I will try to do my best to answer your questions! (please in English or German)

my question is:
we all know German government supports Israel in all issues,what about the german ppl?

Hm, you just asked the most difficult questions of all. ;)

I think, there is a general consent (except for extreme parties/groups) that Israel has a right to exist today.

Until recently it was some kind of tabu to criticize Israel and its policy, as the Germans are always paranoid if something seems not to be totally "political correct".

But when it comes to the conflict with Palestine and now the Lebanon I think there are many people criticizing the Israeli policy.

Funnily, mainly left-wing people criticize Israel, somtimes even polemise (I don't whether this word exists in english) against Israel, while the conservative support everything Israel does, as the Americans do.

As I also read in the Questions about Spain-thread, it's the same in Germany that the impression of Israel is reduced to the Israel-Palestine conflict and I think that, if this conflict finally comes to an end, Germany for the first time would really look at Israel and its PEOPLE without prejudices and wothout having the conflicts in mind.

If you like I can support you a little bit, cause I have many jewish friends since my early childhood and my last girlfriend was jewish, so I know "a bit" about jewish life in Germany especially in Berlin.
