wouldn't you guys think this should be topping 400 m. I mean it would be great considering the floor count. and if they called it somethin like "Royal Sky" or anythin like that, it'll be better than al amira tower, i mean it's not bad but for such a building, you need a gripping name.

Bahraini Spirit - Why do you hate the name? Al Amira means "The Princess".. I know it doesn't suit the building but I think it sounds fine.

I will translate the full article when I'm too bored to do anything else.. which should be about 5 or 10 minutes from now :p

BulldozerGirl

Hmm.. the full report is only a three lined paragraph.

"Ta'meer properties has launched a new residential tower project in Dubai Marina, with a height of 340 m. It consists of 90 storeys and has 750 apartments which range from one bedroom apartments to five bedroom apartments, there are also duplex apartments and penthouses."

Sorry for the literal bad translation, but that's all it says.

well bulldozer girl, it's not that i hate the name "al amira", it's a nice word, but for such a huge project, which would be the world's tallest residential, I personally think that a more unique name should be used, you know what i mean. When this is completed, you want to say we have the world's tallest residential tower and its called "something interesting" and not "al amira".

SA BOY
November 25th, 2004, 08:39 AM
I see an article on the 2nd page which is longer and more involved than the one posted here and it makes refference to a total height of 380. So im assuming its 340 roof and a 40m spire???. Ill try to scan the article and send to someone can translate the longer more detailed article

BulldozerGirl

When this is completed, you want to say we have the world's tallest residential tower and its called "something interesting" and not "al amira".

You said that this huge project should have a fetching name like "Royal Sky" or something similar. I think that's a horrible suggestion. I hate these English names of a lot of the new towers that are coming up, and it's senseless to be giving them names like these and then translate them in Arabic. The same tower will have two names this way, and there is nothing worse than having the English name transliterated in Arabic (like the boarding for Mall of the Emirates which actually write the word mall in Arabic M-O-L even though such a word doesn't exist and the word should be markaz).

I mean look at the name Bright Start for God's sake. What a load of crap. I prefer Anbar and those names. It's really sad how New Dubai has addresses that sounds like "Park Place" when there is even no letter P in Arabic, or areas called Emirates Hills or whatever. It makes the city look like an English colony.

SA BOY - Scan and post the article here and we'll see what it says.

Bahraini Spirit
November 25th, 2004, 11:29 AM
that was an example, and when i wrote that, that name should've been in arabic, I never mentioned what language the name should be written in. "Royal sky" was just one example i thought of in a split second without even being creative, but just to demonstrate my point that such a tower needs a gripping name. Dubai should do what bahrain does for it's projects, take the arabic and translate it like Amwaj islands. Bulldozergirl, hope you get my point.

Yes, I agree that an Arabic name should be given and the Arabic should be transliterated in English. Like Burj Dubai which is "Dubai Tower".

I think maybe you dislike the name Al Amira because it's very feminine and it's not that suitable to be calling a monstrous project such as this "princess". But I think the paradox makes it interesting.. especially with that design that looks like something out of a horror film.

Perhaps they should change the name to Al Emir?

Bahraini Spirit
November 25th, 2004, 01:39 PM
nah, not even al emir or al amir will do, it's nothin to do with feminism. It's just that for such a huge project, you need a name that will instantly grip people to the project without even knowin how it looks like or it's specs.

Ta'meer property developer of Sharjah, invests 560 million dirhams for a tower in the marina

London - Asharq al-Awsat

Sharjah-based Ta'meer properties has launched a project to build a new residential tower in Dubai Marina, called "Amira". It has a heigh of 340 m, and has 90 storeys with 750 apartments, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to five bedroom apartments. There are also duplex apartments and penthouses. The total investment of Ta'meer in this project is abour 560 million dirhams, of which 380 million is for the tower, and 180 million for the cost of the land on which it will be built, as part of the Dubai Marina project, in which it will overly the beach and the marina as well as three main roads. Construction will start at the end of June 2005 and will be finished over the course of 4 years maximum.

The weekly report of Dubai Bank mentioned that the "Amirat Dubai" apartments will be available for freehold by monthly payments for a period of 50 months without interest. The prices start at 590 thousand dirhams up to 3 million dirhams for regular apartments, and from 1.2 million dirhams up to 12 million dirhams for duplex and penthouses.

And in Dubai, the property market has had increased activity in the first two days after a long stop. The amount of transactions in these two days was around 220 million dirhams....

Demand for residential apartments and offices has increased since the start of this year by 15-20%, because of increased trading and commercial activity in the emirate....

Well that's generally what the article says, I skipped over a lot of stuff.. in the end it just talks about increased demand and a large number of Arab expats coming to live in Dubai and setting up businesses.

BulldozerGirl
November 27th, 2004, 04:43 PM

big news today in melbourne is that Grollo have put an application in for a 53m spire atop Eureka which would bring total height to 351m, thus clearly becoming worlds tallest apartment tower. The spire will be quite large and will be an enclosed structure with an observation deck.

This clearly shows they are putting the tower right next to Al Marsa and Emirates Crown.

The penthouse is on the 83rd floor.

Today I spoke to the guy in charge of running tests on the ground to see if it can take a building this tall. He said they are having to drill to 70m! I have a feeling that the height of this could change ...

The Princess Tower at the Dubai Marina will be unveiled today by developer Tameer at the Dubai Property Investment Show in the Dubai World Trade Centre. The latest tower soars higher than surrounding projects, and is to boast easy instalments and attractive prices.

at least "sours higher than surrounding projects" sounds promising. so it has to be at least 250m. not sure if they know about the other supertall projects in the marina.

The location for Al Amira is beautiful! But how much of the grass in that area has actually been sown?

The green colour is just for demostration purpouses, almost all of the empty spaces are plots designated for costruction.

The aerea around towers and around roads and intersections will be landscaped, like it is done elswhere in Dubai, but we have to wait until towers are compleated.

I'm not saying it will be done when ALL the towers will be compleated, but every constructer will landscape the aerea around his tower, within the plot he purchased, while EMAAR or Municipality will landscape the rest.

does the tower have basement parking? i don't think so

If it's really 100 floors then a height of 340m is pathetic. Dennis you better not walk around in the tower when its done.

because somebody came up with 380m for the princess at the beginning
and i still haven't seen any evidence

i guess it will be 100 F and 90 Res. pretty sure.
but the height was already published at 340m but it seems veeery less then.
maybe there will be underground parking if the hole is 22m, and 10 floors of parking,
so 90F =340m. still not much...maybe 340 to top floor, 380 to spire?

I don't really know, but it seams that is tied up with Gulf News, becouse I see that on the door steps of people also receiving GN. Even GN has every thursday an ad for the publication.

Well the only 300m+ tower I know is definitely under construction is the Rotana hotel. Emirates crown has 64 floors too.

(Oh yeah, don't forget burj dubai :))

And what about that gold one on SZR?

Dubai-Lover
August 16th, 2005, 07:15 PM
rose rotana
almas
bd
bd lake hotel
more or less najd and ocean heights

i think this one here can't start because emirates crown has not yet come out of the ground

they simply can't dig a hole for princess right now, other wise there would be complications with pouring the concrete foundation for emirates crown

emirates crown could start when al marsa was out of the ground

hence princess will start when emirates crown's podium comes up

maybe 1 month, max 2

Mention today but at 107 floors ?

Al Ameera bids soon
Tameer Holding will soon invite contract bids for the $327m Al Ameera Village project, a senior official told Gulf News. The development will have a cluster of residential units, set for completion in 2007. The company is also building the 107-storey Princess Tower, which it says will be the world's tallest residential tower, at Dubai Marina.

Trances

if each one with the claim was complete now today it would be the tallest :)
But it kinda hard when there are like 4 of the that will be very close the title come the end of 2007

Chad
September 20th, 2005, 09:27 AM

Tameer ... is also building the 107-storey Princess Tower, the world's tallest residential tower with 771 residential units in Dubai Marina.

"Shoring works are in progress. Its tender will be out in three to six months. The project is in the detailed design stage, with projected completion in 2008," he said.

The tower, costing Dh700 million, is nearly sold out. It will cover 37,410 square feet with apartments, duplex villas, high-end penthouses, offices, sales outlets and hotel suites.
