I had a quick look around and couldn't see anything on Swindon. The wheels are in motion in the town currently, with what seems like half of the town centre being pulled to the ground.

The main people responsible have a website: http://www.newswindon.co.uk Not much in the way of photos because everything is at such an early stage.

Another Council initiative is the Granville Street redevelopment. An artists impression can be seen below along with the following newspaper article:http://www.adver.co.uk/search/display.var.758833.0.reaching_for_the_sky.php

Its pretty much characterless, its existance largely because it was most convenient for the running of Brunel's Great Western railway (its almost exactly halfway between Bristol and London Paddington apparently). I have nothing against the place but it ranks alongside Basingstoke as one of the most dull large towns in the UK (maybe coincidental but both towns have i believe the highest density of roundabouts in the world).

I thought Swindon existance was to give us something to laugh at. Anyway, it has excellent location that is 1 nice thing and Billie Piper is from there.

The old town is nice enough. The Railway Village is interesting. When i lived at Lyneham last, Toothill and Westlea were still being built- bewildering to go back a few years ago. The west Swindon Asda was a Carrefour in those days.

apart from the 75m tall john murrey building there's not much in swindon to grace SSC, however they are ripping down literally half the town center so expect a few 10 storey + buildings and the council are pretty picky about what goes up, so hopefully they'll be some good stuff.
