I thought I would pose a hypothetical question for all Northeastern forum members.

I have listed several Northeast cities below. Let's pretend that they were awarded a minor-league baseball stadium today, or some team plans on moving there. You get to pick the site of the stadium. Where would you put it? What would you have as the backdrop from the stands, that the fans can look out towards from their seats? Would it be a skyline? A body of water? A street scene? Some other scenery like a mountain? Some other urban scenery like a seaport?

You have to use real land for this. So, if the team wants to move to the city for the 2007 or 2008 season, pick a place where you could really build a stadium; don't pick a place that was recently developed, or privately owned, etc.

I've specifically picked these cities because most people live near one of these cities, or are at least familiar with it. You are free to add comments for cities outside of your area if you know a lot about those as well.

We'll disregard any other minor-league teams in the immdeiate area that could claim these cities as their own territory (like the Buffalo Bisons, New Britain Rock Cats, Bowie Bay Sox, Tri-City Valleycats, etc). I also made sure not to include cities with independent league and even college wood-bat teams, like Lancaster, Worcester, Watertown, Concord, etc.

Niagara Falls, NY
Annapolis, MD
Cumberland, MD
Dover, DE
Hartford, CT
Fall River, MA
New Bedford, MA
Vineland, NJ
Portsmouth, NH
Albany, NY
Jersey City, NJ

The question, though, is where would you put the stadium? On the waterfront, overlooking the bay? In the city, with a view of the state house or something? Across the river from the Naval Academy?

I know the perfect spot. Right across from The Academy on the Severn River looking in to downtown Annapolis.

I think the perfect location for one in Rochester would be just west of Downtown, with a great view of the skyline and the river on one side, and Kodak tower on the other. :) Hey, wait a minute...........

I would say Albany, but they have the Tri-City Valley Cats (although I don't think they are technically in the city of Albany)

Connecticut, not Hartford specifically, but CT overall has alot of nice, new minor league stadiums, all of which are 10 years old or less.

Hartford itself, well, East Hartford, has brand new Rentshler Field where UCONN football and concerts now come, here is a pic and a view of the skyline from the park

CT may have enough ballparks already, but never say no to development in Hartford!

I don't think everyone understands my hypothetical situation. We are not picking cities to get a minor-league team. What you are doing is assuming that all of these cities have received a team in one way or another; your job is to pick the site of their new stadium.

I choose Hartford. A city right in the middle of the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry.

This is where I would build a stadium in Pyong Yang...errrr Downtown Albany

Right on Empire State Plaza infront of the Corning Tower and next to "The Egg"
