Construction on this building has been halted for a couple years now, yet its billboard remains on the site and it is unclear if it will ever resume.

i didnt know there were building another hilton in beirut

1st time i hear about this one.but why they stopped?it's almost done.

there is this high way i once used and its full of modern buildings and i like there desgins and they were glass n stuff similer to that one

I'm not sure, but it's really an eyesore left in this condition and its a shame it is halted because its actually NICER than the BCD Hilton!

this hilton hotel an especial the one in bcd are both looking so bad. - in my opinion it's better to have an empty plot than those craps. :(

Yes this is the one I saw in Hamra!!
Too bad the construction stopped.
But I wonder why Hilton tried to make the two separate hotels
at the same time....

^^ It wasnt the same time, this Hilton was U/C before the BCD Hilton was even announced (more or less I'm not 100% certain about the time frame, but I am positive the Hamra Hilton was halted well before the BCD Hilton started construction).

Oh yes, now I understand after Hamra Hilton was halted BCD Hilton started to be constructed.
I wonder if there was any problem with Hamra Hilton....

As of today(April 30, 2007), Hilton Hamra is still the same status...(halted)

those signs look very old ! , they prob have been there for ages, i hope they start working on it again

i duno guys, if they ever DO continue construction, dont u think they shud update the design a bit? the exterior. it looks very plain and...normal.

^^ The plot is very small for a hotel so they are limited in options - that may be the reason why they stopped construction.

It is interesting though that the billboard has remained standing so long after construction was halted...maybe it will be continues one day.

Because I forgot the location I walked around Hamra and got really tired.

this tower is still the same and no work on it is currently being done so i say ...buldoze it cuz the way it looks is just depressing ..

the government should regulate the construction process, coz the hilton hotel isnt the only building that stands deserted around beirut and the entire country. there are loads.
