As you may know, we're right in the middle of the Infringement Festival. Our shows ended last weekend (I was even on the cover of Gusto!) and it's been great checking out the other offerings. Tonight was a free performance by fire dancers in Days Park. The photos are blurry (I was using a fire hydrant as a makeshift tripod) but you get the general idea of what was going on.

wow, very nice.

do these fire dancers have a regular meeting/performance place?

in portland, a large group of them would meet under a highway bridge accross the river from downtown, every sunday night. i don't know if it was sanctioned or if the city just tolerated it, but it drew a great crowd week in and week out and offered fantastic free entertainment drawing a wide variety of people from grungy kids to middle class families.
perhaps a space under the skyway, or one of downtown's many surface lots, could be set a side for them once or twice a month to meet.

I prefer the Copyright Infringement Festival myself. ;)

This group is from Montreal so they don't have regular performances here, but there might be a local group. The only thing I can think of that's even close is the juggling club that meets in Delaware Park sometimes.

I just found out they're going to do shows every night for the rest of the week, so anyone who wants to check them out still has a chance. The show starts at 9:00-ish (Sunday at 8:00) at Days Park in Allentown, weather permitting. It's free, though they pass a hat after the show. Tonight (Thursday) they're going to walk from the Nickel City Co-Op to Days Park, so the starting time might be off a bit.

Now, I don't want to sell this harder than it deserves, either. It was fun and interesting, but I wouldn't drive 45 minutes to see it either. If you're in the mood for a night out in Allentown it's perfect.

Honestly WSJ - those pictures are very good. You should consider showing it to the group and selling them as marketing pics (or donating if they're poh)

;)

Did anyone get their eyebrows singed during the show... performers or audience?

It's like the Burning Man Festival
