errr its the arabian gulf. The persian gulf is what the americans call it but the Middle east calls it The arabian Gulf.

someone posted in the UAE forum that this is 72 floors.. but I counted 88 floors at least in that render...

I like the design of the building very much, to quote what someone said before its 'simple, but elegant'.
It looks strangely similiar to the Nanjing Centre, and even again the building's height and design could be likened to Q1 in the Gold Coast, AUS.

The design does indeed look like the building that is u/c in Nanjing. Is it from the same architect? I kinda prefer this design over the design in Nanjing. It is slicker.

I find it strange that Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects (http://www.pcparch.com/flash.cfm) (formally Cesar Pelli Associates), EC Harris International (http://www.echarris.com/), Buro Happold (http://www.burohappold.com/), and Bauer International (http://www.bauer.de/) got no information on their sites about this project whatsoever!! Not even a dinky listing or name mention!

No official website for the project either! And the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, (HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan) got no website!

Good progress! This tower is amazing

This is a Great Tower! Everything is great with the exception of the wing type things near the base. Other than that, i think this tower is pretty stunning!

I like this tower, very elegant.

yes the building is real and the main contractors were Samsung who r the main contractors in building Burj Dubai now :)

the website and emporis says office, residential, retail. the first 7 floors look large compared to rest?

if the first 7 floors are office, you devide 72 by 7= %10. so it scrapes in at pure resi. It needs atleast 90% residential use.
i think it qualifies. but is currently 20 floors. it wont beat the dubai towers which are all now 40 floors.

Good Malec! Abu Dhabi is much more calm and down with ther big projects then neightbour Dubai.


Abu Dhabi is much more refined than Dubai about the scale en quality of the projects!

^^ AD is much more comfortable and cozy than the insane Dubai. :)

Actually with Abu Dhabi sky line, this tower will look just like Taipie 101 among the sorrunding! It will look tall and alone, and it will be truly a land mark for the city!:)

It won't be that big, the tower next to it is not too small anyway.

Call me crazy but Ive always liked Abu Dhabi's skyline over Dubai's. It just seems more fitting. To me, Dubai's buildings are all empty and were built just to show jow great they were. Abu Dhabi's skyline is actually active. I know im wrong but Abu Dhabi is still #1 in the UAE for me. :)

Wow, UAE now has more thousand foot tall buildings than the United States. In only a decade... crazy.

I wonder if any of the supertalls going up in Abu Dhabi has a public observation deck.

This is the second Supertall to T/O in AD.
3 more to go, and the fourth one is yet to start! ( Adnoc head Quarter)

^^ Considering that AD in general is way more obsessed with security issues then Dubai is, I would find that hard to believe to be the case.

"obsessed with security" is truly the accurate word to describe AD construction work!
But the towers will eventually complete

The funny part is that baynona tower (the blue tower with the white ball on top) was the tallest building in AD for last couple of decades! until the AD bank building came and then everything out of control now !

^^yeah, in the old pictures the sky line seemed so much more organized, some one dropped miracle grow on the city, i hope the skyline will even out eventually

at least it definitely seems so...

will the crown also be covered with reflecting glass or does the structure remain visible? It reminds me of the crownes of many towers in Singapore

Now I'm confused--is this a project separate from the Central Market? Or is it just one of the smaller towers, in which case it ought to be listed under the same name, just with the stats along side the others.

Its not bu any means related to the central market. Its 2 blocks away actually, but these building have a huge size that make them look like they are in one location

it looks like Q1 on steriods, and the location makes the whole city takt on the look of gold coast too

errr its the arabian gulf. The persian gulf is what the americans call it but the Middle east calls it The arabian Gulf.

in middle east Iran, Afghanistan, Caucaus Countries and Kurds call it Persian Gulf. Turks call it Basra Gulf. All of the countries in the world except 7-8 arab countries south opf Persian gulf call it persian gulf.

See. Even arabs called it Ajam Gulf (Bahr-ol Ajam). Ajam was a name arabs gave to Iran (persia) and it means not Arab.
