while i don't know if I would call it racism by some measture I would agree generally with your assertion. I don't think black Americas feel anymore great attachment towards Africa then whites do towards Europe. In both cases the vast majority see themselves as Americans who happen to have a distant heritage towards. But most don't consider themselves "hyphanited" and equal European/African with being American. Unlike some other groups most in both cases have been in the U.S. to long and have to complicated of family trees to really lay claim towards a binationally "homeland".

i said 'many' not 'all' and how in the world could that have anything to do with reverse racism? and just because someone considers themselves to be african doesn't preclude them from considering themselves to be american as well. also i make no assumptions, i speak for the 'africans' that i have heard refer to themselves as such. those americans who chose not to embrase any part of africa that is they're choice, those who do chose, that is their choice as well.

I do believe though that it's a shame that more African women are turning to extensions. Why not wear your natural hair with pride? That's definitely one thing that I love about Ethiopian women. Wherever in the world we are, you'll see our afros coming at you, eff the haters.
I have no problem with wearing my hair straight from time to time, we all need a style change sometimes, but wearing Indian extensions as a way of life is just sad and pathetic. We need to embrace our hair's uniqueness, we can run circles around straight hair in terms of versatility and style.

I think castro's got a point, but is going about it in an entirely inappropriate manner, which is that relatively dark skinned black Africans are extremely underrepresented in threads like these. Of the black Africans, East Africans are far more overrepresented than any other group.
