Princess Tower is not the ugliest building in the world. But it is far from being pretty.

No, it looks like something out of Arabia. Which coincidentally is exactly where it is. Dubai has a lot of super talls planned or U/C with alot of different styles and designs. I think it's good that they at least have a couple which display the traditional styles of the region.

wow, ive always loved this tower. i think Australia's Grocon will build this with new quick slip-jump -form construction w hich will go up 2 floors every 5 days!
A worthy successor to Australia's 322m Q1 and 297m Eureka as worlds next tallest resi tower.!

^^ the tower is not going to be isolated - in fact it's going to be part of the dubai marina (over 200 towers) and is going to be placed on what is being tipped as the tallest block on the planet (4 supertalls).

I don't think is that bad, And I think most people here don't think the land of Dubai and it's awsome skyscrapers are bad,
I just have problem with a very fundamental reason - goverment subsidizing economy, a prue economy mirage. If you want to know why I think that way... most people in the world have account or credit card from the US banking, truck load of cheap stuffs made in China, TV, car and PS2 from Japan and Foods and clothings from Europe. I just can't name "ONE" thing what Dubai is well know for to support all the monsters that this, and YES! Dubai have oil but it will run out VERY soon and it have not a lot of light or heavry industry to support a hub like Dubai.
It is like she just won a 400T dollors "oil" lotto,she just want to build herself a world class city, she know she don't need it right now but "hopefully" she need it 20 years from now and "hopefully" she can support it down the road.

I only have one thing to say - Good Luck On Hopefully!

The building is okay in my opinion, and I have to admit the top is perhaps not the nicest, but it is traditional, so if you saw a photo of that building, you'd know it is is Dubai.

I don't like it, it looks spectacular with those 109 floors, but the desing it's awful, im sorry but i don't see any sense in the desing, thanks

the core or floorplates are poured as one entity which most of time happens to be a floor. Grocon in Australia have recently built a 2x 70st/90st bldgs with double floor core pours.As long as next floor is identical the pour consists of 2 whole floors not just 1.make sense?

The huge dome at the top could use better designing, but overall, IMO a cool addition for Dubai.

I think the two big towers in this image are to big. They are around 500 if you take the Emirates Marina Serviced Apartments & Spa tower.

The contract for the construction of the world's tallest residential tower 'The Princess Tower' has been awarded to Arabian Construction Company (ACC).

The 107 storey residential building will be located in Dubai Marina. The developer of this project is Sharjah-based Tameer Holdings and the value of the contract is Dhs 690 million.

'We thank Tameer for entrusting us with their signature project, which we commit to deliver to the highest standards, in line with ACC's recognized code of practice,' said Hassan Auji the General Manager of the ACC Dubai.

ACC was selected for this project due to its extensive experience in high-rise construction. The company has been associated with a number of skyscrapers in Dubai such as the 80 storey 333m tall Rose Rotana Suites Tower (the highest furnished apartment tower in the world) and DMCC's 70 storey 360m tall Almas Tower.

Sitting on a large 3,500 square meter plot in Dubai Marina, the Princess Tower will rise 414m with a total built-up area of 170,000 square meters. When complete the building will contain 750 luxury residential apartment units of two, three and four bedrooms along with duplex villas and penthouses. Once completed, the Princess Tower will replace the 323m tall Q1 Tower on the Gold Coast of Australia for the title of the world's tallest all-residential building.

Amenities at the Princess Tower will include swimming pools, a gymnasium, a children's day care nursery, a sauna club, a prayer room and a private car parking area for each resident in addition to a luxurious reception area. The completion date for this project is 2009.

all towers in dubai are rising very fast

but it is most likely they will use the Grocon double jump slipform which will make it at least as fast as Rose Rotana.

i doubt both 23 marina and Princess will be ready before 2009, actually saying it could be 2010 at least for princess.

looks very good, i think in 1 or 2 month it's at the same point as 23 Marina now

I noticed there are alot of towers in Dubai around this stage of construction. It should make for an exciting few years to come when they all poke above ground level and continue to rise.

^^ What is more interesting, is that 6 - 7 of them, from 275 - 414 meters, are within a small aerea of just 200 x 100 meters. :cheers:

this is a nice building with i scary pencil thin of a body....certainly tall like you may expect from the lego building, skyscraper masters of Dubai....but only 400meter for a building with over 100 fls....what gives on that?

This project together with Marina 23 I wish them to delay a little bit more (not too much), so the Ice Tower could at least have a few months of glory as the worlds tallest residential building. :cheers: :jk:

This tower looks like it suits a little girl who's called princess because her parents are rich. doesn't suit an ACTUAL princess, but I kinda like it none-the-less.

I'm a shiny facade guy, I'm not a big fan of this tower.

No, they are working on the foundation and underground levels.

^^ More precisely, they are putting in place the rebars, in preparation for the massive concrete pour of the raft foundation.

Culwulla, I think 23 Marina should be finished a bit before this one and enjoy a brief reign as the tallest residential. It's a few floors ahead right now and seems to be going fast.

yes, me too , they are working on Friday as well.

And ACC has always been a faster builder then DCE ... PLUS ... this will be constructed out of steel beams around a reinforced concrete central core, exactly like Rose Rotana, (build also by ACC) so not only a faster technique but mastered by them as well.

Actually the mods should change the floor count to just 101. 107 is the number of levels and that includes the 6 underground park levels as well.

oki I didn't so we need to change the title because it doesn't have 107 floors above but only 101fl :ohno:

^^ 5 of them are parkings and some 6 are service floors, so just around 90 floors actually have apartments.

so what I am trying to say here is that the title is confusing and should be changes...because it missleads people..:cry:

this is a really nice tower too, its just kinda sad how a 101 story tower is COMPLETELY forgotten alongside its 162 counterpart across town... :nuts:

The core is gigantic compared to the workers standing next to it...

This is gonna fly up once it gets going. I remember them saying a floor every 2 days or something rediculous like that.

The core is already set to go. I really hope that it will be speeding up!

I think Arabic architecture in general is very interesting and I like this tower. Glad to see it get off the ground!

Hmm only looks to be about 90-91 floors on the board there - unless some of the ground levels count as double and there are more floors in the top dome part. Still, even if 100+ is a stretch for this tower, it's still not far away and extremely tall! Nice to see the progress, thanks Imre.
