data update

R1: 193.8m, 55 floors, residential
R2: 202.8m, 58 floors, residential
R3: 235.8m, 69 floors, residential
R4: Cancelled
R5: around 330m, 61 floors, hotel and offices (upwards revision under study)
R6: 460.0m, 88 floors, hotel and offices

The first plan was composed by 3 towers only.

Old plan 1:

R1: 40 floors, 200m~
R2: 40 floors, 200m~
R3: 80 floors, 300m+

Then it changed to another different concept, based on a large shopping center with 5 residential towers and 1 supertall for office use.

Old plan 2:

R1: 55 floors, 200m+
R2: 58 floors, 200m+
R3: 61 floors, 200m+
R4: 68 floors, 200m+
R5: 75 floors, 200m+
R6: 79 floors, 300m+

The plan was changed again, and it was announced that there would be 2 main towers, 86 floors each one, and above 300m.

Old plan 3:

R1: 55 floors, 200m+
R2: 58 floors, 200m+
R3: 61 floors, 200m+
R4: 68 floors, 200m+
R5: 86 floors, 330m+
R6: 86 floors, 330m+

Some news at last about the final project.

- The tallest tower will be 428m, it is confirmed.

- Since they have announced several times that the tallest towers would be twins, the second tallest might be 428m too.

- Unofficial rumour claims that the second tower will be, at least 350m+. This was said at the official meeting of the new version of Jialing Fanying project. Same source claimed that the tallest would be 428m, and we could confirm this later.

- No news about the other towers, so I keep posting the old figures for them.

Final plan, hypothesis 1:

R1: 55 f, 200m+
R2: 58 f, 200m+
R3: 62 f, 250m+
R4: 68 f, 250m+
R5: 350-400m
R6: 428m

However, rumour claims that the second supertall tower doesn't mean a revision on R6 tower, but an addition of a seventh tower. This is not confirmed.

Final plan, hypothesis 2:

R1: 55 floors, 200m+
R2: 58 floors, 200m+
R3: 61 floors, 200m+
R4: 68 floors, 200m+
R5: 75 floors, 300m~ < R5 and R6 might be the same tower
R6: 350-400m
R7: 428m

Additional rumour claims the 8 floor podium was never included in the floor count of the towers (typical in China when making early designs).

Final plan, hypothesis 3:

R1: 63 floors, 200m+
R2: 66 floors, 200m+
R3: 69 floors, 200m+
R4: 76 floors, 300m~
R5: 83 floors, 300m+ < R5 and R6 might be the same tower
R6: 350-400m
R7: 428m

The very fist design, 1x80fl, 2x40fl+. It's amazing how this project has become bigger and bigger. I hope the final design will be out soon.

CHONGQING | Century Star Plaza (Under construction): 2x330m+, 86 floors. Chongqing's largest project by far, developed by ASE and located also in Jiefangbei. This crazy development composed by two main towers (office and hotel) and four residentials has changed many times and the last design hasn't been chosen by the moment. The first version was composed by one tower around 80 floors and two around 40, called City Crown of Chongqing. Then, the project was relaunched as 6 towers, 79, 75, 68, 62, 58 and 55 floors respectively, being the tallest 300m high. In early 2007, the two main towers were announced to become 86 floor twins. Finally, in mid 2007, some renders were launched about the final proposals, which showed crazy designs, some of them as tall as 90 floors. The outcome is still an enigma. The huge podium hosting a shopping center is under construction. Thread (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=381429)

The first plan was composed by 3 towers only.

Old plan 1:

R1: 40 floors, 200m~
R2: 40 floors, 200m~
R3: 80 floors, 300m+

Then it was changed to another different concept, based on a large shopping center with 5 residential towers and 1 supertall for office use.

Old plan 2:

R1: 55 floors, 200m+
R2: 58 floors, 200m+
R3: 61 floors, 200m+
R4: 68 floors, 200m+
R5: 75 floors, 200m+
R6: 79 floors, 300m+

The plan was changed again later, and it was announced that there would be 2 main towers, 86 floors each one and above 300m.

Old plan 3:

R1: 55 floors, 200m+
R2: 58 floors, 200m+
R3: 61 floors, 200m+
R4: 68 floors, 200m+
R5: 86 floors, 330m+
R6: 86 floors, 330m+

Some news at last about the final project.

- The tallest tower will be 428m, it is confirmed.

- Since they have announced for several times that the two tallest towers would be twins, the second tallest might be 428m too.

- Unofficial rumour claims that the second tower will be above 350m. This was said at the official meeting where they released the new version of Jialing Fanying project. Same source claimed that the tallest one would be 428m, and we could confirm this later.

- No news about the other towers, so I'm keeping posting the old figures for them.

Final plan, hypothesis 1:

R1: 55 floors, 200m+
R2: 58 floors, 200m+
R3: 61 floors, 220m+
R4: 68 floors, 250m+
R5: 350-400m
R6: 428m

However, rumour claims that the second supertall tower doesn't mean a revision on R6 tower, but an addition of a seventh tower. This is not confirmed, but latest renders locate the second tallest towers on an area where none of the 5 residentials were planned.

Final plan, hypothesis 2:

R1: 55 floors, 200m+
R2: 58 floors, 200m+
R3: 61 floors, 220m+
R4: 68 floors, 250m+
R5: 75 floors, 300m~
R6: 350-400m
R7: 428m

Additional rumour claims the 8 floor podium was never included in the floor count of the towers (typical in China when making early designs). This source claims that the shortest tower would be 55+8 floors and the tallest one 88+8 floors.

Final plan, hypothesis 3:

R1: 63 floors, 220m+
R2: 66 floors, 220m+
R3: 69 floors, 250m+
R4: 76 floors, 300m~
R5: 83 floors, 300m+
R6: 350-400m
R7: 96 floors, 428m

At last we have a little of info about Century Star Plaza. The residential tower currently u/c will be 286m tall, 68 floors. Are they including shopping center in the huge podium? No idea.

I don't know which R# is this one, depending oh the number we could guess the heights of the other 5 residential towers, but I'm sure it is either R1 or R2. That would mean that R3, R4 and R5 will be all taller than 286m, all of them residentials. R6 (hotel) and R7 (offices) are supposed to be even taller. R7 is confirmed to be 428m, and R6 is supposed to be between 350 and 400m. I wonder when are they unveiling the final plan :|

^^ I can't wait to see how far does it grow. The final heights for the other 6 towers remain unknown, but this one (scheduled to be the shortest one in the general plan) will mark the minimum height for the other 6. The press said that it will be 286m, 68 floors, being the first time they release concrete figures for any of the towers within the project. But nobody believed this source. Well, we'll see, 38 floors by the moment :D

yes chongqing is the world s biggest since 1997
by some level

Wow the Chinese name isn't that good, 日月光中心。 Is 日月光 a big company, or what? Anyway, the design looks superb, the skybridges give it a good look and the cladding has a nice post industrial look to it.

Ok, final figures.

R1: 192.9m, 55 floors, residential
R2: 201.9m, 58 floors, residential
R3: 234.9m, 69 floors, residential
R4: Cancelled
R5: 293.5m, 61 floors, hotel and offices (upwards revision under study)
R6: 428.0m, 88 floors, hotel and offices (upwards revision under study)

7 floor shopping center podium included.

R6 is very likely to be 460-469m, they said. They want to make it taller than Jialing Fanying.

Huge disappointment to me. Only 5 towers now and only 1 of them is confirmed to be a supertall. However R5 is very likely to be back to 300m+ after final revision.

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c203/macpolo/Untitled.jpg

The one currently rising is R1, 11 floors left to be topped out.

Like 100 times :D

Currently 428m, 293m.
There are two aspects which might add height. 1: Slight upwards revision of the two main towers (the other 3 are final already). 2: The current official heights of the 5 towers may not include the crowns.

Not sure, some Chinese forumer should answer. Probably because works don't stop on weekends, only during the golden weeks. And they often have turns till midnight or even later. In Shanghai I could see reflections of soldering irons at 1:00 AM coming from the subway construction sites.

Then in China you don't have to deal with the typical problems that delay projects for ages in many countries: NIMBY lobbying, political games, tons of bureaucracy, etc. As long as you have the money (and manage to clear the plot, lol), everything will go very fast :D

R6 confirm to be 460m

z0rg
March 18th, 2009, 12:57 AM
how tall is it ? i cant seem to find the height. i'm not talking about the taller tower, i'm talking about the one thats in the pic

This is R1 Tower, the shortest one within the complex.

R1: 193.8m, 55 floors, residential.
R2: 202.8m, 58 floors, residential.
R3: 235.8m, 69 floors, residential.
R5: Around 330m, 61 floors, hotel and offices.
R6: 463m, 88 floors, hotel and offices.

We don't know if the heights for the two big towers include the crowns though. Very little transparency for all Chongqing's 400m+ projects because of the height race in this city.

EDIT: the pic isnt showing but I see that u didnt get me :) i meant that those ugly lowrises shown in the previous page, which are residentials are being replaced by this tower as its residential.

So if they're building better residential towers right now, its a good sign that the ugly ones that are 10 years old will be demolished. I didnt mean that parts of the ASE center will be demolished :)

not just any super tall a 463 metre supertall but i guess it is just a backalley and it must have a big road on the other side . Actually chongqing has lot of shabby zones in it . z0rg says--->
Only one of the projects (2 towers) is unlikely to be built, all others should be completed within 2015, maybe a couple of them will be delayed a few more years though. I've cut the CBD core here, the area is just around 0.8km2, shorter than Lujiazui and similar size as Manhattan's FiDi. The white line spans 1000m only.

This is a brief list of the towers there:

1) 463m: ASE Center 1. Started digging last month.
2) 431m: CQ IFC. Foundation/On hold for years as it has been revised upwards for 10+ times. May be revised even higher.
3) 430m (380m without the spire): Financial Street 1. Recently approved, demolition works on going.
4) 331m: Global Financial District. Final height unclear. Digging the hole now.
5) 330m: Lanko International Tower. Rising, around the 20th floor now.
6) 320m: Hongyadong Phase 2. Under design.
7) 318m: Yingli Tower. Foundation works.
8) 308m: Yuzhou Hotel. On hold for years, purchased by a new developer two months ago and likely to be redesigned (probably taller they say).
9) 300m+: Newport Tower 1. Only a proposal, unlikely to be built.
10) 300m: Poly Tower. Rising, around the 15th floor now.
11) 293m (likely to be revised to 320m~): ASE Center 2. Started digging last month.
12) 290m~ (240m without the spire): Financial Street 2. Recently approved, demolition works on going.
13) 283m: WTCC. Completed.
14) 250m: Financial Street 3. Recently approved, demolition works on going.
15) 244m: Xinhua International Building. Rising, around the 15th floor now.
16) 235m: ASE Center 3. Approved.
17) 228m: NYNY Tower. Completed
18) 220m: Financial Street 4. Foundation works.
19) 220m~ (200m without the spire): Financial Street 5. Recently approved, demolition works on going.
20) 210m: Financial Street 5. Recently approved, demolition works on going.
21) 202m: ASE Center 4: Rising, currently around the 5th floor.
22) 200m+: Newport Tower 2. Only a proposal, unlikely to be built.
23) 200m~: Financial Street 6. Recently approved, demolition works on going.
24) 193m: ASE Center 5: Topped out.
[...]

You can check the location here, but the map is very outdated as many heights have been revised, and I forgot including the Lanko Intl Tower (which is next to Financial Street). IMO this district is becoming world's densest skyline by far.

This is insane z0rg whoa .What about traffic and stuff have they figured that out .I know chongqing has very good wide roads surronding this entire financial peninsula .No doubt about that but what about the roads criss crossing the peninsula . You have any info on how they plan to solve this .I know they have a monorail but that is just one line and unlike guangzhou beijing and shanghai .They don't seem to have many projects going on as of now to increase substantially the length of monorails or metros
