View Full Version : What's your favorite part of New Jersey? EdBradly August 5th, 2006, 10:11 PM What's your favorite part of Jersey (North Jersey Or South Jersey) and why? sargeantcm August 5th, 2006, 10:22 PM North, in particular northwest. North of Trenton and west of I-287. Beautiful area. Spooky873 August 5th, 2006, 11:17 PM I likem both differently, but equally. Beautiful area as well, and theyre a bit reminiscent, brings back memories. AmherstMan August 5th, 2006, 11:46 PM I like the North part. Manly because I love Belmar:) JAB323 August 6th, 2006, 12:07 AM I like both, but the north is more urban. bungalowbuck August 6th, 2006, 12:52 AM i love basking ridge and the morristown area. Promiscuous Boy August 6th, 2006, 01:16 AM I like de Lambertville/Frenchtown area BuffCity August 6th, 2006, 01:39 AM the part that borders Connecticut ROCguy August 6th, 2006, 01:42 AM New York City. Xusein August 8th, 2006, 08:36 PM North Jersey, especially in the Jersey City/Hoboken area, spent lots of time there. I would not mind to live there at all, but the prices...OUCH. the part that borders Connecticut New Jersey does not border CT, but they get really close. The part that is closest to Connecticut is Bergen County...uber rich. BuffCity August 8th, 2006, 09:22 PM I was kidding... :hahaha: jmancuso August 9th, 2006, 12:01 AM haha. i prefer southern jersey (prettier, slower paced) but there are some great towns up north too. Evergrey August 9th, 2006, 12:15 AM the part near Port Jervis, NY Xusein August 9th, 2006, 06:20 AM I was kidding... :hahaha: Oh....carry on! :) HAudidoody August 9th, 2006, 07:23 AM Sussex County. OK place to live. Skiing is close, great winters, nice landscapes, safe, etc. I also lived in Maywood in Bergen County for a while. I find south Jersey to be overall rather trashy and rundown without the little bit of natural beauty the north has. I'm not going back to either part though. Jersey is way too expensive given what it offers, which really is only proximity to Philly and NY. GasUpTheUHaul August 11th, 2006, 03:40 AM I'm quite biased on this matter. I love the North. I love the density in the northeast and the nature of the northwest. I appreciate the wide variety of ethnicities in the North and the authentic eateries that come as a result. I might get in trouble with this comment but I'll give it a shot. I think North Jersey has grown more of its own identity whereas the South, primarily the shore towns, seems more of a summertime playland for Philadelphians. I suppose the identity crisis is present in both North and South. We really don't have much of our own. The North is so dense because of NYC and the South has what it has primarily because of Philly. The south shore gets taken over by Pennsylvanians and the northern shore by New Yorkers. My friend from Rutherford once told me that NJ is a whore that is constantly getting screwed by Philly and NYC, but it pays the bills. Hope this didn't offend too many people. If anything I think it would be more offensive to New Jerseyans like myself xzmattzx August 11th, 2006, 03:55 AM South Jersey. It's close to Philly (and to Delaware), there are urban and rural areas, and there are many hidden gems that I am familiar with: Cape May, parts of the Pinelands (although the Pinelands would more appropriately be categorized as Central Jersey), and more. liat91 August 11th, 2006, 04:24 AM "The southshore gets taken over by Pennsylvanians and the northern shore by New Yorkers". So Wildwood, Ocean city and Sea isle gets mostly Philly people and Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights get New Yorkers? Can anyone verify this? or does the Jersey shore get inundated by all Northeasterners equally along the shore, north and south? Giant August 11th, 2006, 05:16 AM Cape May is an awesome getaway nice and quiet to a point. Atlantic City is a mixture between Northern and Southern Jersey but mostly Southern Jersey. South Jersey is Philadelphia everyone in South Jersey has roots in Philly. I like both but South Jersey for Tranquility. I wasn't trying to suggest that only these specific groups attend these areas but Im sure if you did a geographic head count you would see a trend similar to what I suggested. Im from Northern NJ and the places I've gone to and most of my friends go to our-Belmar, Point Pleasant, Sleazeside Heights etc. When I lived in the Philly area almost everyone I spoke to spent time in AC. Brigantine, Wildwood, Cape May etc. Lately though many from Northern New Jersey are heading for Cape May. sjerseyrez August 11th, 2006, 09:40 AM ^^ Yes, this is basically true. The Jersey shore of course will cater to anybody, regardless of where you're from, but proximity counts for something. I'm not as familiar with the North, and their beaches, other than having driven through a couple times. But, being from the Cherry Hill area I definitely can testify to the steady stream of PA plates heading down to the shore via the AC Expressway. It's not all PA of course, but the presence is very obvious to anybody paying attention. *Sweetkisses* August 13th, 2006, 05:37 AM South Jersey because it's nicer and it compliments Philly well. Andy 21 September 3rd, 2006, 04:32 AM What's your favorite part of Jersey (North Jersey Or South Jersey) and why? My favorite part of the state is South Jersey cause of its shore. Atlantic City, Ocean City, Wildwood, Cape May. Also there is less traffic than in the north part of the state. South Jersey is very nice. MuddyZehbra32 September 3rd, 2006, 05:20 PM My favorite parts of jersey are the southernmost shore towns; and the northwest. otherwise...central new jersey is only good for getting to new york city lol. Yes; i would say that is fairly accuratte; although the northern shore is also very full of people from the lehigh valley and northeast, pa. on weekend trips; although peopel around here tend to just go all the way down if they are staying for a week or so. Third of a kind September 4th, 2006, 06:06 AM I can't decide..a tough one...I love the north part of Jerz..but also the south too....there's a timeless feel to some of the beach spots they got down there in the south part Sussex county is a weird but enjoyable place..I can't put my finger on it.....they've got an ill ski/water park though (I forget what its called) |
