Beiruti August 8th, 2006, 12:39 AM As you can see, not much change in over a year and it appears construction has been halted. However, I'll keep my fingers crossed since the crane is still there...
I asked around among the locals, and it seems that this plot of land is actually haunted and nothing built there ever lasts long (something always goes wrong).
Beiruti June 22nd, 2007, 05:23 AM ANY updates on this building?
Has construction resumed at all? Is the crane even still there?
I emailed the developers about a year ago and they havent responded.
Beiruti August 28th, 2007, 12:57 AM On the VERY left of this picture you can see that this tower is rising (meaning construction has resumed!)

Nadini August 28th, 2007, 05:20 AM ^^ how do you know this Beirut!? It looks the same to me
Beiruti August 28th, 2007, 08:03 AM ^^ Look closely, it looks a couple floors taller than in the 2006 pics.
Hopefully I am right!

Beiruti September 5th, 2007, 04:45 PM ^^ Well dont forget it is really a triangular shape, so it only looks thin from this angle but it widens on the other side.

Beiruti September 21st, 2007, 10:58 PM ^^ Amazing pics Nareg, finally this tower has topped out it appears. These pics were taken a couple months ago right? I hope by now they have begun interior and facade works...
nareg September 21st, 2007, 11:08 PM ^^ Yes, they were taken back in June 24th. I'm not 100 per cent sure if the interior and façade works have commenced because on my way back to Lebanon, I saw the building from the aeroplane. It didn't appear to be topped out.
kheireddine September 30th, 2007, 09:00 AM ^^ Well dont forget it is really a triangular shape, so it only looks thin from this angle but it widens on the other side.
Then land is small and triangular, it use to be a gas station whith hoses from the ceiling
john2890 September 30th, 2007, 03:36 PM ...like the flatiron building in nyc! its nice.
Beiruti September 30th, 2007, 03:36 PM The land is small and triangular, it use to be a gas station with hoses from the ceiling
Is there any truth to the curse on the land? That no project succeeds there?
kheireddine September 30th, 2007, 07:37 PM Is there any truth to the curse on the land? That no project succeeds there?
Before the gaz station, there was a small house, maybe it was haunted :runaway:

Hassoun October 8th, 2007, 06:31 PM ^^So,it's going on  Gr8 !!!
Who took that pic. and when???that would help alot :)
Beiruti October 8th, 2007, 06:57 PM ^^ yes it is a stunning view, probably taken recently. It must have been taken from atop the Savoy Suites or the residential building across the street.
PLUS, you can see the works along the corniche!
I award this "Pic of the Week"
LeB.Fr October 8th, 2007, 07:05 PM This is great!!!When i was there in the summer, there wasn't any works on this part of the corniche.
Lirtain October 8th, 2007, 07:13 PM It seems they added more floors (relative to the render) with duplexes at the top
It looks like it has 16 floors now
Beiruti October 9th, 2007, 02:44 AM ^^ Yes, I was thinking the same thing, it's at least 16F now... I will edit the thread title.
Jayme October 9th, 2007, 06:29 AM it seems very tall because its so Thin ! , and the Plot of Land seems so tiny ! now that Burger King hasnt got a view any more lol
kheireddine October 9th, 2007, 06:38 AM Yes, Jayme, I know the plot & it is triangular and very small, it used to be a small gas station, and to make room for the cars, the hoses were dropping from the ceiling
Jayme October 9th, 2007, 07:19 AM and they we werw able to build a building on that land  isnt there empty land next to that Burger King
kheireddine October 9th, 2007, 09:22 AM Actually there is a large plot behind the Burger King
Jayme October 9th, 2007, 09:34 AM why couldnt they juist build it there ! insted of the one they chose
kheireddine October 9th, 2007, 09:42 AM because land cost a fortune in Rawcheh  Anyways, It would be weird to have an apartment with triangular shape
Beiruti October 10th, 2007, 02:16 AM Actually there is a large plot behind the Burger King
Burger King NEEDS that parking lot. It is packed with cars every night and they have no alternative parking. Now the land in front of the Lancaster Hotel to the left is a huge plot, but from what I hear the owner is not willing to sell.
AmeriLEB October 10th, 2007, 08:56 PM I hope he doesnt but hes probably smart to hold onto it..it will be even more valuable

Beiruti February 1st, 2008, 03:45 AM ^^ It looks like it has topped out??
Abu 3Leish February 15th, 2008, 09:50 PM am i the only person that actually hates this project?!?!?!.... it was built on a tiny plot of land making the floor space ridiculiously small....i say they shouldve made a park in its place ...simple and elegent adding a green touch to an area ravaged by concrete...plus it wouldve added open spaces which beirut lacks ........
Abu 3Leish February 15th, 2008, 09:52 PM but i have to say that is a g8 pic.
houssam February 15th, 2008, 10:42 PM no ur not the only one, i dont like it too!!

Beiruti May 4th, 2008, 08:58 PM ^^ The back side looks way too flat, will there even be windows? None of the renderings show the view of the rear.
Lirtain May 4th, 2008, 11:12 PM ^^ Post #18 clearly shows the back side which has no windows and it looks like a big wall. Maybe that's why they did not have a render from that side as there's nothing to show.

Unless someone has the right, and intends, to build right up against that back wall, the owners really might as well just plant a huge middle finger on it to reinforce the message to their neighbors!
But at least it's clad, and not covered with paint that will soon streak and get discolored and dirty...
Rabih March 28th, 2009, 05:21 PM ^^ I couldn't agree more! this bldg is so wrong, it lack creativity and plain..
not to mention that it's so not fit for an area like Raouche!!
Who gives these licenses?
lebnani March 28th, 2009, 05:33 PM They Should change the name to "Sea Wall" lol
liban81 March 28th, 2009, 07:48 PM ????,it's a nice tower.i think and realy in lebanon and in particulari beirut there are the most nicest projects in the region except dubai.check other forums and you will understand.
lebnani March 28th, 2009, 07:53 PM Its a nice building in the front I just don't understand the back, I mean its a blank wall, why not have something interesting on it at least.

bilal.b May 4th, 2009, 06:53 AM I have heard in the past that this building was built and allowed to be built due to some political reasons. I am not sure how accurate this is. This building does not follow the rules about being some distance from the road from both sides and thus politicians played a role into it.
Hanz May 4th, 2009, 08:42 PM It is actually the exact opposite Bilal. The project was held up for some 10 years due to political reasons even though the license file was completely legal in terms of building law and such.

Thanks for the updates!
Lebanese Cedar November 28th, 2009, 09:35 PM This ugly stupid building had to halt construction for a while because of some legality issues. I don't know the exact details, but I think they weren't supposed to build such a high building in this plot.
They were later allowed to continue construction.
El balad fawda....
LeB.Fr November 28th, 2009, 09:51 PM "ugly stupid building" I think it turned out pretty nice.
But it's as high as the Royal Hotel, right next to it, so how come there were height issues?
Lebanese Cedar November 28th, 2009, 09:53 PM Because of the buildings behind it (including the Burger King) which had a clear view of the sea.

New Beirut hotel vows ‘ultimate in luxury’
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9144/t037lobby.jpg (http://img208.imageshack.us/i/t037lobby.jpg/)
An Artist's impression of the Hotel Lobby
THE first hotel in the Middle East to be managed by La Reserve Hospitality Collection Switzerland, Le Dix Hotel, Beirut, will offer the ultimate in luxury and privacy when it opens this month.
The boutique property has 10 one, two and three-bedroom suites, including two duplexes with private elevators, and the luxurious interiors have been created by world-famous designer Pierre Yves Rochon.
Le Dix is located in the heart of Lebanon’s vibrant capital city and all 10 suites enjoy stunning sea views and their own fully-equipped kitchen.
Bedroom and bathroom linens are from a high-end Italian company, which has been producing fine linens for more than 100 years, and the hotel is currently in negotiations with further luxury brands to provide exclusive suite amenities.
A private 24-hour butler will be assigned to each suite and guests will have the option to use the underground parking facility, reached by a car elevator, from where, once parked, they can take the internal elevator directly to their suite ensuring extreme privacy.
General manager Tony Gergess said: “This is where comfort and style meet. The target market of our hotel is the upper-scale clientele of Beirut and travellers mainly from the GCC, Levant and Europe who care for their utmost privacy.
“We are still in the pre-opening phase and currently in the process of branding the property. We are planning to have a spa and, at this stage, we are in negotiations with a brand which we feel would be best associated with our property.
“We are also planning to have a cozy restaurant on the rooftop which will be a very exclusive venue.”
