Let me give some background, the place is the former Kodak Elmgrove Plant. 5,000,000 sq. feet or so of Industrial/Office space located in the town of Gates about 4 miles from Downtown Rochester. It was built in the late 70's, and early 80's at a cost of $500 million dollars. When Kodak went down, they attempted to sell the property. A real estate trust bought the property in the late 90's for $30 million dollars and promptly put over $10 million into the park for improvements to the infrustructure such as roads, 10,000 new trees, and other signage improvements. What we got was one hell of an impressive office park.

The park is currently 40%-45% leased and is home to the Kodak Nexpress factory, and ITT Space Systems division. When I drove through most parking lots were about 50% filled. The most impressive thing was the clock on the side of building 13 (ITT Space Systems) It was huge, I snapped a pic but it didin't come out. Sorry for the quality of some pictures, but I was just driving through.

The place was incredibly impressive, and very easily accessible from 531 (has its own exit). Around the park is the FedEx regional headquarters (very impressive facility located at 100 Fed Ex Way (nice name eh?) and the Total Sports Experience at 880 Elmgrove Road (A former Kodak recreation facility) turned into an incredibly popular indoor soccer/lacrosse building, with something like 20 outdoor soccer/lacrosse fields. There is also an indoor go-kart track at the Rochester Tech Park, a few resteraunts, and an ESL Bank branch. Was an interesting side trip and I'll probably do it again when I have more time!

This is right by my aunt and uncle's old place. Youd think Wegmans would buy up some of that complex; the headquarters is pretty close to it.

Is impressive, but I'd rather see a 30-40 story tower on the skyline instead. ;)

Of course the same could be said for practically anywhere else as well...
