Glad you're impressed with our city. That's what I've been telling everyone all this time! ;)

Market Street is still under renovation, so you'll have to excuse all of those chain-link fences along the sidewalks.

You visited some areas that I haven't even photographed (yet). Although, I have about 3 or 4 Wilmington photo threads that I have photos for, but just need to organize and upload. (I have some threads on Wilmington's West Side neighborhoods coming in the next few months.)

Make sure you come back now.

Maybe this has been mentioned elsewhere, and I'm just too thickheaded to remember - but I've noticed all the buildings in Wilmington's CBD are roughly the same height - is there a height restriction, or is that just the way things have developed?

Wilmington does seem to have some incredible density and very little of the dead space (surface lots) that seems to plague so many other cities. Of course it's a smaller city, so maybe that has some effect...but still - not bad.

No restrictions, but a larger skyscraper would just stick out too much. Also, downtown (usually called Center City) is on the top of a hill, so anything tall would stick out even more; our tallest is partly down the north side of the hill, and it still sticks out above the others.

I have considered making a thread listing why people would love Wilmington, and one of the reasons is because there are almost no surface parking lots in the entire downtown area and surrounding neighborhoods. All of the newer skyscrapers built garages either below ground under the building, or an above-ground garage nearby. There are also a couple "community" garages. Another reason why everyone would like Wilmington is because of the many styles of housing, which herodotus showed off in this thread. Actually, those were two of my main points I was going to mention in the future thread; now I won't have many more new points to make. :bash: ;)

^^I agree it looks like Philly! I've been to Wilmington once and it didn't impress me much, but I do think it's one of the most beautiful cities when compared to others with the same size.

Whoa, that's some extreme contrast!

The owners of my house and the attached one always repaint at the same time and agree on the colors beforehand so it doesn't end up like that... but it's interesting, I suppose, haha.
